Introduction to The UK 5K Road Championships
The UK 5k Road Championships will take place before the AJ Bell Great North 5k. Some of the UK’s best athletes will battle it out to be crowned national champion.
Join us from 16:45 and cheer on the elite athletes as they race their way around the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside, before we set the AJ Bell Great North 5k runners on their way at 18:00.
Live on the Red Button
This spot on the 5K, just up from the start line, will guarantee you a great view of the runners when they set off as well as the chance to see the runners give it their all as they head into the final lap.
Itʼs all to play for on the final stretch. Base yourself here to see the finale of the battle to be crowned UK champion. Who will claim the title?
Coming into the final few hundred meters of the race, the action will heat up along up along Hillgate and South Shore Road (the road just below Sage – Gateshead) on the last lap. BALTIC SQUARE
Give our runners that final boost by cheering from Baltic Square (just beside the Baltic Art Gallery) as they head towards their sprint finish across the iconic Swing Bridge
