Great Southwest Equestrian Center 2014 Summer/Fall Vesicular Stomatitis Policy Due to the recent outbreak of Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) in central Texas, Great Southwest Equestrian Center will be implementing the following policy regarding admission of horses to the facility. All showing and non showing horses that originate from counties that have confirmed cases of VS will require a health certificate before entering the grounds. There will be no exceptions to this policy. The health certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian and have a VS declaration that states the horse has not been exposed to animals with VS and that the horse exhibits no symptoms of VS on the date of examination. This certificate must be generated no more than five days from the horse’s arrival date at Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Current information on which counties have confirmed cases of VS can be found at the Texas Animal Health Commission website http://www.tahc.state.tx.us/ If you have any questions or concerns please contact Amy Uniss at 281-978-0767. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding regarding this issue.
