Britannia Farm Fall Classic “A” Horse Show - Competition #1413 This competition is operated in accordance with the current rules of the US Equestrian Federation of which it is a

Regular Member Competition And is rated “A” in High Performance Hunter, Performance Working Hunter, Green Working Hunter, Amateur-Owner Hunter, Junior Working Hunter, Pony Hunter and Green Pony Hunter. “C” rated in Adult Hunter, Children’s Hunter, Children’s Pony Hunter, Adult and Children Jumper.


RULES AND REGULATIONS This show is a regular member of USEF. “EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OFTHE CURRENT FEDERATION RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.” ENTRIES: A) Closing date is October 15, 2012 for Britannia Farm Fall Classic. B) Entries received after the closing date may be charged a late fee of $50.00. C) Management reserves the right to limit the number of entries. Entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. D) Entry blanks will not be accepted unless signed and completely filled out and accompanied by a check. Anyone under the age of 18 must have the signature of a parent or responsible adult. It is the responsibility of the person making the entry to execute properly and complete all necessary information pertaining to each entry made in accordance with USEF rules. E) NO NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT AN OPEN CHECK. F) NO FAXED ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED! EXHIBITOR NOTES: A) A $50.00 Office and Administrative fee will be charged to each horse on competition grounds. This will also include schooling the day prior to the horse show and/or other riding times in show rings as posted with EMT on duty. B) Management may refuse to give awards to horses competing without a back number. C) A processing fee of $50 or 10% of the check amount, whichever is greater, will be assessed for non-negotiable checks plus collection fees. D) Tack stalls & shavings can be divided if you notify the office the first day of show. E) A negative EIA (Coggins Test) must accompany each entry blank. F) In the interest of horse welfare; management may limit the number of classes a horse can compete in at this competition. G) All non-showing horses must pay a fee of $100 and complete an entry blank with all applicable signatures. H) Refunds will be given only with a certificate of illness or injury from an accredited veterinarian and presented to horse show secretary before the start of the show. Monies will be refunded if classes are canceled due to weather or other emergency. In either case the show will retain its office fee and any stabling fees. I) No phone-in feed orders will be taken! J) USHJA Zone Support Fee of $2.00. (In accordance with GR1210.14) STALLS & SHIP-INS: A) Permanent and temporary stabling will be available at a cost of $175. B) Ship-ins will be charged a $50.00 ground/clean up fee per horse. C) Stalls will be available for move-in on Tuesday, October 16, 2012. D) 12' x 12' and 10’X10’ permanent stalls (with doors) are available. E) Stalls must be returned to GSEC in the same condition upon move-in. All nails, hooks, etc. must be removed from stalls upon move-out. F) No sharing of stalls allowed. G) Shavings are available for purchase on show grounds. CAMPERS: A) Camper spaces are available for $35 per night for 30 amp and 50 amp. B) Camper fees will not be split on show bills.


CREDENTIALS: All exhibitors in the pony, Junior Hunter, and any Amateur section must present their measurement card and/or their amateur certifications at the show office before their numbers can be released. To speed processing please attach a Photostat of necessary paperwork with your pre-entry. All entries must be recorded pursuant to the current USHJA recording rules. DRUGS & MEDICATIONS: A) Current USEF rules relating to drugs & medications will be enforced. B) Each horse entered must pay a $16 Federation Fee. $8.00 Equine Drug & Medication Fee plus a $8.00 USEF fee. C) Sharps and medical waste must be disposed of in sharps containers placed around the barns. Anyone found dumping medical waste into manure bins and/or trash bins will be asked to leave the show grounds. D) All competitors are asked to comply with the USEF Testing Veterinarians in a courteous and efficient manner. SCHOOLING: A) Schooling will be posted or announced. A medic will be on duty during that time. B) ASTM-SEI approved headgear must be worn and fastened at all times when mounted Pursuant to USEF rule GR 801.2. FOOTING AND ARENAS: A) Outside ring 1 is approximately 150” x 300” w/ Otto Sport Footing. B) Outside ring 2 is approximately 125” x 275” w/ Otto Sport Footing. C) Hunter Ring 3 is approximately 125” x 275” w/ sandy loam footing. D) Main Indoor arena is 150' x 290'. East Indoor arena is 125' x 250'. E) Footing is a priority; rings may be closed to schooling during inclement weather and/or for maintenance at any time during the show at the manager’s discretion. PRIZE MONIES AND AWARDS: A) Prize monies due to competitors will be credited and/or paid within 30 days of conclusion of show. B) NO PRIZE MONEY WILL BE MAILED UNLESS THE OWNER’S SOCIAL SECURITY OR EIN IS LISTED ON THE ENTRY FORM. C) Arrangement for foreign funds must be pre-arranged with show management. JUMPERS: A) A rotating random jump order will be used pursuant to JP112.2 st B) Ties (other than 1 ) will be separated by time taken in the first round. Ties in Jumper classes jump off for first only. C) Champion and Reserve will be determined using the USEF bonus point system. Bonus Points will apply to the class indicated for each section. D) Championships will be awarded in jumper sections that offer 3 or more classes, except Training. COURSES: A) Courses will be posted a minimum of 30 minutes prior to each class. B) At management’s discretion, a dotted line may be put into effect to restrict the size of the courtesy circle in the hunter classes. HORSE REGISTRATIONS: A) All horses competing in Federation non-breed restricted licensed competitions with hunter, hunter breeding, jumper and hunter seat equitation classes (except those activities enumerated in GR901.9, items 1-9) must be properly identified and must obtain a Registration Number from USHJA. A registration number for each horse must be entered on all entry forms for licensed competitions. Proof of registration must be presented to the Show Secretary before numbers can be released.

TROPHIES / CHAMPIONSHIPS 1. Hunter classes receive a trophy and eight ribbons & Equitation classes receive a trophy and six ribbons unless otherwise noted. 2. Hunter sections will receive a champion & reserve award based on points unless otherwise noted. USEF rule HU-7 3. Full Championship points will be given in all classes in each hunter section except Green Conformation Hunter Model which will count as half points. In all hunter sections, Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to two of the top four horses acquiring the most points over fences. In addition, only these four horses will receive full points for ribbons won under saddle and half points for ribbons won in the model (full points for Reg. Conf. WARNING: Under Texas Law (Chapter 87, Civil, Practice and Remedies Code), an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities.


MOTORIZED VEHICLE POLICY: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to

operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

ADDITIONAL RULES AND REGULATIONS A) Every Competitor will comply with the rules of the show management, but management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be the condition of entry that each competitor shall hold this horse show, the Great Southwest Equestrian Center LP, Britannia Farm Show Mgmt., it’s Directors and employees, and the officials and employees of the show blameless for any loss or accident to his horse, employees, equipment, which may occur from sickness, fire, accident, or otherwise. The competitor also acknowledges that equine activity carries an inherent risk of accident and/or death, and that the sole responsibility for choosing to participate rest with the competitor and their trainer. B) Competitors, guests, and vendors are responsible for their own property. C) The Great Southwest Equestrian Center LP, and Britannia Farm is not responsible for theft, fire, or loss. D) All questions and protests not covered by association rules will be decided upon and interpreted by competition management. E) Management reserves the right to cancel, combine, add, delay, and reschedule classes in the best interests of the horse show and its operations. RESPONSIBILITY: Submission of entry to these shows constitutes an agreement to the following: Exhibitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Great Southwest Equestrian Center LP, Pauline Cook dba Britannia Farm, Horse Show Management against any claims, demands, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees for the defense thereof, arising from the conduct or management of Exhibitor’s business or its use of the premises or from any breach on the part of Exhibitors of any conditions of this Agreement, or contractors, agents, employees, guests, or invitees in or about the premises. In case of any action or proceeding brought against Great Southwest Equestrian Center LP, Pauline Cook dba Britannia Farm, Horse Show Management by reason of any such claim. Exhibitor, upon notice, covenants to defend such action or proceeding by council acceptable to owner. Exhibitor is responsible for his/her own property and the GSEC is not responsible for accidents, fire or theft. SAFETY AND WELFARE: A) Pursuant to USEF rule GR 301: Dogs are to be leashed & under the owner control. In addition, pursuant to facility regulations, loose dogs will be removed by animal control, from the show grounds at the owner’s expense. B) Pursuant to USEF rule GR 801.2: It is compulsory for all persons at Federation licensed hunter, jumper or hunter/jumper competitions when MOUNTED anywhere on the competition grounds, to wear properly fastened protective headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM/SEI standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured. C) Management may excuse any competitor from the grounds who does not maintain a horses feed, water, or minimum standards of care and custody.


D) Riders must take full responsibility upon entry that they are fit and qualified to compete at this level of competition, and that they understand the inherent risk of equine activities. THJA MEMBER STATEMENT: THJA MEMBERS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL CLASSES AT

COMPETITIONS RECOGNIZED BY THJA. A NON-MEMBER MAY PARTICIPATE AS A RIDER, OWNER, LESSEE, AGENT, OR TRAINER IN THJA RECOGNIZED SHOWS UPON PAYMENT OF A $10.00 NON-MEMBER FEE. PARTICIPANTS IN THE FOLLOWING CLASSES ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS RULE: (1) LEADLINE, (2) EXHIBITIONS, (3) GAMES AND RACES, (4) BEGINNER, (5) SHORTSTIRRUP, (6) PRE-BEGINNER, AND (7) BABY GREEN. (See also THJA Bylaws, Section 1F). NON-RESIDENTS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS ARE EXEMPT FROM THE PAYMENT OF NON-MEMBER FEES. IF A MEMBER DOES NOT HAVE A MEMBERSHIP CARD WITH HIM/HER, OR IS NOT ON THE CURRENT THJA ROSTER, A $10.00 NON-MEMBER FEE MUST BE PAID. A CHECK FOR THE NON-MEMBER FEE AND/OR A MEMBERSHIP AFFIDAVIT FORM MUST BE FILED WITH THE HORSE SHOW OFFICE. THE NON-MEMBER FEE WILL BE REFUNDED UPON PROOF OF THJA MEMBERSHIP. A PERSON/HORSE MAY REGISTER WITH THE THJA AT A RECOGNIZED HORSE SHOW AS LONG AS THE APPLICATION(S) AND PAYMENT ACCOMPANIES THE OFFICIAL HORSE SHOW RESULTS. REGISTRATIONS MAY ALSO BE COMPLETED ONLINE WITH A CREDIT CARD AT THE THJA WEBSITE BEFORE THE END OF THE SHOW.

USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT

Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. FEDERATION ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of GSEC Winter Series I, II, and III (Competition). I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of Federation rules are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any action instituted against the Federation must be filed in New York State. See GR908.4.

Specifications: ~ Open to all eligible horses with fences 3’0” – 3’5” ~ Each horse/rider combination must complete a separate USHJA Exhibitor Declaration Form no later than one hour prior to the start of the class. ~ The order of go will be posted minimum of one (1) hour prior to the start of the class. ~ Horses entered in this class will NOT be required to jog for soundness. Any unsoundness during the competition will be reflected in the scores from the judges (GR 1031.7). ~ The same horse may not compete in the USHJA National Hunter Derby and the USHJA International Hunter Derby at the same competition. ~ During the 2 phases of the National Hunter Derby, all horses entered must be ridden only in the designated National Hunter Classic warm-up area(s) wearing their Classic competition number. This includes horses entered simultaneously in another class, if any. ~ Two round classic with Fence heights 3’0” with four option fences set at 3’3” to 3’5”. ~ Formal/dress attire required (per HU126). Judging: ~ Horse/Rider combinations will receive one (1) bonus point for every high option jumped without major fault up to a maximum of four (4) in both rounds. ~ Each class must have a minimum of two judges. ~ A maximum of 10 bonus points may be awarded by the judges to each horse/rider combination for handiness of round in Round 2. ~ Numeric round scores and bonus points will be announced separately and will be combined for the total round 2 score. ~ Round 1 and 2 scores will be combined to determine final placings. ~ In the case of ties occurring in the overall placings, the handy round scores will be used to break any ties. There will NOT be a jump off for tied horses. Round 1 Hunter Classic Course: To be shown over a hunter classic type course consisting of a minimum of 10 fences/obstacles that simulate those reminiscent of the hunt field and a variety of derby jumps will be used. Fence heights set at 3’0”. There must be four 3’3” to 3’5” fences set as option jumps. To be judged on performance, hunter pace and style, quality and substance, movement and brilliance. A minimum of (12) entries, including horses tied for 12th place, must return for Round Two, if available. Round 2 Handy Hunter Course: Course will consist of a minimum of 8 obstacles and will include a minimum of two required “handy options”. Fence height 3’0”. Four option jumps set at 3’3” to 3’5” will be included. To be judged on style, brilliance and handiness. Zone bonus points will be awarded.

Conditions and Specifications

Nominating Fee. Nomination fee of $150 is required for those divisions listed in the Nominated Jumper Section. Late nominating fee of $175 if not paid before noon Monday. Horses will only pay one nominating fee regardless of cross entry into money divisions and classics. Numbers must be worn on riders back or on the saddle pad so that it is visible to the paddock master. Exhibitors are responsible with familiarizing themselves with all pertinent current USEF rules and regulations for the jumper division and jumper schooling areas. Poling or offsets will not be permitted on the grounds. Ties for placing other than first place will be separated by time. Management may institute random boot checks and inspections of horses at their discretion. Children & Adult Jumpers will be combined if there are less than eight entries in either section. Jumpers must be recorded with the Federation in order to receive points towards any USEF or USHJA Zone or Horse of the Year awards. 2012 Zone 7 Specifications (AR, KS, LA, MO, OK, TX) In accordance with GR1111.4: All members may compete for Zone Awards or money in any state contiguous to Zone 7: MS, TN, KY, IA, IL, NE, CO & NM Adult Amateur Hunter: To be ridden by Amateurs no longer eligible to compete as Junior exhibitors. Open to horses and ponies. State rules may prohibit entry of ponies (see exception paragraph below). Cross Entry: The same rider/horse (pony) combination may not compete at the same show in any class (equitation and USHJA National Hunter Derby excepted) in which fence heights exceed 3'3. The rider may compete on a different horse or pony at the same show in any other division or section for which the rider/mount are eligible. The horse or pony may be shown by a different rider in any other division or section at the same show except Amateur Owner Hunter or a different age group in Adult Amateur Hunter. Exception: A state association may adopt more (but not less) restrictive cross entry rules (see below). Course and Judging Specifications: Fence height: 3’ spread not to exceed fence height. Courses will not be adjusted for ponies. To be judged on performance, soundness, manners, way of going, and suitability of mount to rider. Entries are not required to jog for soundness. The Adult Amateur and Children’s Hunter sections may be combined if there are less than four in either section. Children's Hunter: To be ridden, and handled in all phases of competition, by Junior exhibitors. Open to horses and ponies. State rules may prohibit entry of ponies (see exception paragraph below). The pony may be shown by a different rider in any other division or section at the same show except USEF Rated Hunter Pony classes. To be judged on performance, soundness, manners, way of going, suitability of size of rider to mount, and suitability as a Children's Hunter. Ponies not required to be jogged for soundness. Small ponies to be shown at 2', Medium Ponies at 2'3", and Large Ponies at 2'6"; spreads not to exceed height of fence. Children’s Hunter Pony sections cannot be combined with either or both of the Children’s Hunter Horse or Adult Amateur divisions. No minimum prize money is required. Adult Amateur Jumper: To be ridden by Amateurs who are no longer eligible to compete as Junior Exhibitors. Cash winnings do not influence this classification. Children's Jumper: To be ridden by Junior Exhibitors. Cash winnings do not influence this classification. Class Conditions for Adult Amateur and Children’s Jumper: Classes in the Low Adult Amateur and/or Children’s Jumper section will be conducted at 1.0m to 1.05m. Classes in the High Adult Amateur and/or Children’s Jumper section will be conducted at 1.10m to 1.15m. If only one section is offered, the classes will be conducted at 1.10m for all classes offered in the section. Competition Management may restrict cross entries between High and Low sections at the same show if stated in the prize list. Classes to be scored under Table I; Table II, Section 1, Sections 2(a), 2(b), 2(c), or 3; or Table IV (Optimum Time). Cross entry into Junior or Amateur Owner Jumper or any class at 1.25 m and above is not permitted for the same horse/rider combination at the same show. A combined Adult Amateur/Children's Jumper section may be offered, and if entries warrant, may thereafter be split into separate sections. Exceptions: An exception is permitted to any or all of the sections described above only under the following conditions: The rule-making organization must be a statewide USEF Affiliated Association. State exceptions can apply only


in shows held within that state. State specifications must have been published and sent to each member of the state association, each member of the Zone 7 Committee, USEF and the manager of every show that applies for State Association recognition or sanction. State rules that are valid exceptions to the general Zone 7 specifications can be more restrictive, but cannot reduce or eliminate any of the Zone 7 stated criteria spelled out above and must be printed in their entirety under the applicable section heading in the prize list. 2012 Pony Jumper Championships Zone Criteria Zone 7: Criteria: Pony Jumper classes held at 1.00m (3’3”) or higher and Children’s Jumper classes held at USEF Licensed regular competitions on or between December 1st 2011 and June 1st 2012. The qualifying time period will be July 1, 2011 through June 6, 2012. Standings for the Junior Team The Junior (CH-N.AM-JS) standings will be based on money won in USEF Junior, Young Rider, and Open Jumper classes held at 1.40m or above as well as Grand Prix classes offering at least $25,000 in prize money. The qualifying time period will be July 1, 2011 through June 6, 2012. Ties: Any ties will be decided by determining which horse/rider combination won the most money in the classes specified above at “AA” rated competitions.
