General Rules, Class Fees and Descriptions General Rules Warning: Under Texas Law (Chapter 87, Civil Practices and Remedies Code) an equine professional is not liable for any injury to or death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risk of equine activities, Indemnity and Responsibility: Submission of an entry to this show constitutes agreement to the following: Exhibitor agrees to indemnity and to hold Great Southwest Equestrian Center, LP (GSEC), the Show, the Show Committee and/or any Show Official harmless against any and all claims, demands, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees from the defense thereof, arising from the conduct or management of Exhibitor’s business or its use of the premises or from any breach on the part of Exhibitors of any conditions of the Agreement, or from any act or negligence of the Exhibitor, its agents, contractors, employees, guests or invitees in or about the premises. In case of any action or proceeding brought against GSEC, the Show, the Show Committee, or any Show Official, by reason of such claim, Exhibitor, upon notice from GSEC, the Show, the Show Committee, or any Show Official is not responsible for accidents, fire or theft. Property of Exhibitor left at GSEC is at Exhibitor’s risk.

All horses on the grounds must present a current (within 12 months), negative Coggins test. Show is governed by AQHA and USEF rules where applicable except where decisions of GSEC Show management take precedence. Horses do not have to be owned by exhibitor. Management reserves the right to cancel or combine classes, change class schedule or officials. All entry blanks must be filled out completely and method of payment left with show secretary for numbers to be issued. Each horse must have a number, even if it is not showing. Failure to acquire a number will result in eviction from show grounds and future participation at GSEC or non-GSEC sponsored events. Although this is a schooling show we ask that participants wear proper attire. Chaps for western and hunt coats for English are not required but we ask that exhibitors wear collared shirts and appropriate head and footwear. Reining classes will be run strictly as paid warm-ups there will be no scores. There are two patterns offered, a maximum of 8 minutes per pattern in the arena will be allowed.

Class Descriptions Schooling Horse walk/trot-jog: open to all horses and riders, training devices allowed Beginner Rider walk/trot-jog: open to riders who have not won six blue ribbons in riding classes except lead line and have never cantered or loped in any show. May not cross enter into classes that require a canter or lope at this show Youth: Open to riders 18 years and under. Birthday is as of January 1, 2012. At the discretion of management, Youth may be divided into ages 13 and under and 14 -18 Amateur: Open to adult riders over the age of 18. Birthday is as of January 1, 2012 Youth and Amateur may be combined at the discretion of management Open: Open to all riders and horses except those entered in beginner rider classes


Academy Classes Specifications The Lesson Horse Open only to horses or ponies used regularly in a professionally operated Lesson Program. Academy Performance classes shall be judged on the rider’s horsemanship and the overall picture of the rider and horse English tack is to be used. Full, snaffle or Pelham bridles may be used The Academy Rider Open to students enrolled in a professionally operated lesson program Academy Equitation classes shall be judged on Basic Equitation skills Headers are allowed in Academy classes if needed for safety Once a rider has shown in a canter class—at any show—they may not return to the Walk/Trot Division Acceptable Attire—dark slacks or jods, boots or footwear with heels, collared shirt with vest or sweater, man’s tie, derbies or other traditional head wear is optional. No riding suits or day coasts are allowed. Neatness of attire and cleanliness of tack will be judged Awards Ribbons first through sixth place for each class Prize for first place in all classes Halter and Academy Championships will receive a Champion Ribbon and award. Reserve champion will receive a ribbon. High point award will be given to the one horse/rider combination accruing the most points in the following divisions/classes..
