They must have an entry form for each show with all release signatures, a current Coggins & flu/rhino vaccination record, and pay noncompete fee & office fee per show, and a stall fee or grounds fee.

Dishonored checks or declined credit cards will require complete repayment prior to the show plus a service charge of $35. All outstanding fees must be paid before show packets are issued. Complete entries must include copies of owner/rider/trainer/coach current USEF card(s) or non-member fee and USDF card(s) or non-member fee; a copy of horse’s Registration/Recording card or certificate; and a copy of a Coggins taken within 12 months of the show dates showing the same horse name as on the entry. Entries missing any of these items will be considered incomplete. Incomplete/incorrect entry fee is $10. Competitor to provide flu/rhino vaccination proof – must be within 6 months of show BUT should be no closer than 7 days before the show. Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, based on postmark date and entries may be limited. Those entries postmarked after closing will be accepted at the discretion of the show secretary, based on a space available basis and charged a $50 late fee per show. If the classes are oversubscribed, a Waiting List (in the order of receipt) will be maintained. Management reserves the right to refuse any entry. Great American/USDF Qualifying Classes: For the Great American/USDF Qualifying rides, riders must have an active USEF Membership and a USDF Participating Membership. Effective for the 2018 Regional Championships, owners must have a USDF Participating or Business Membership and a USEF membership (Junior Active, Senior Active, Life, or Recorded Farm (with Active Farm Owner)). If the horse has more than one owner, at least one owner must have both active USEF membership and active USDF Participating or Business Membership. For a business or farm to be the valid owner under this requirement, it must be listed as an owner of the horse with both USEF and USDF. Horses must be Annual or Lifetime Recorded with USEF and USDF Lifetime Registered, an HID is not sufficient. Great American qualifying entries must include horse USEF and USDF registration and rider’s and owner’s USEF and USDF card(s). Official Ride Times: Stabling assignments and provisional times will be available to competitors at www.showsecretary.com. Official times will be available at noon the day before the show. All Change requests for the must be made by 11:00 AM the day prior to the class. Refund Policy: Cancellations prior to closing date will be refunded, less office fee and any processing fees. Cancellations after closing date will be refunded with a veterinary certificate stating the horse’s inability to compete, less office and processing fees. Hazardous Weather/Act OF God/Accident Policy: Management reserves the right to cancel any classes due to hazardous weather, Acts of God, accident, or emergency. Every effort will be made to reschedule with priority given to any qualifying classes being offered. No refunds for cancellations due to hazardous weather, Acts of God, accidents or emergencies. Schedule: Classes may not necessarily be run in the order listed in the class lists. It is the responsibility of the rider to inform the show secretary of any time conflicts as soon as possible after receiving the schedule. Show Office: Open noon on Saturday until 6 p.m. and one hour before first ride each show day. 5
Scores: It is the responsibility of the competitor to verify the accuracy of all scores. Scoring errors must be reported to the Show Secretary within one hour of the official posting of the scores from the last class of the show day during which the score was earned. Freestyles/Music: The minimum score required to enter a freestyle class at any level for a horse/rider combination is 60 percent. Competitors must submit a copy of a test at the highest level showing that the required 60 percent was met in order to enter the Freestyle at that level. Music for all freestyles on CD in WAV format must be given to the show office upon check in to show office. Sound checks will be conducted Saturday not before 5:30—exact time to be posted online and in show office. Competitors are responsible to picking up their music before the end of the show. Music left will not be mailed. Opportunity Classes: Opportunity classes are intended for entry level riders. Horses and riders entered only in “Opportunity” classes are exempt from USEF and USDF membership requirements, and do not have to pay non-member (show pass) or HID fees. Federation and drug fees do not apply. Horses entered only in these classes are still subject to and must comply with the Drugs and Medication rules and are subject to drug testing. Riders and/or horses entered in “opportunity” classes may not cross enter into other recognized classes at the show. Participants must abide by all USEF regulations pertaining to attire, tack and equipment for the recognized show. Reference GR821 for additional information. Pony Measurements: Any pony being ridden in a pony restricted class must possess a USEF Dressage Pony Measurement Card. A pony measurement is required for any horse under 8 years old which does not have a permanent pony measurement card. Owners must notify management of any ponies needing a measurement for an appointment to be scheduled with the veterinarian accordingly. The fee charged by the veterinarian will be prorated among the pony owners. This fee will only be the actual charge by the veterinarian and will not exceed $100 per pony. Measurement fee will be paid directly to the veterinarian at the time of measurement. Do not prepay. Pony measurement will take place on Saturday not before 4 p.m. If additional times are needed, they will be posted in the office on Saturday evening. Measurement requests MUST be received prior to the start of the competition. A reminder of time and place for measurement will be posted in the show office on Saturday. Owners must be USEF membership at the time of measurement. Ponies must have a USEF recording or HID #. Pony must be presented in a halter. SWDC Championships Pony Classes: The only pony championship classes offered at the SWDC Championships October 4th-7th are training pony open and 1st Level pony open. Any class Training 3 class and any 1st Level 3 class can qualify for the two pony championship classes, AS LONG AS IT IS DECLARED BEFORE THE RIDE. (Exception Opportunity) Also, any pony class of a higher level can qualify for a non-pony championship class in SWDC, e.g. 3rd Level test 3 Pony can be a qualifier for SWDC 3rd Level AA if the required score is earned. Please see pg 14 for more information. Stabling: Stalls are permanent, 10 x 10’ with solid walls and doors. Two bags of shavings are provided with each stall. Additional bags may be purchased – must use facility shavings per contract – no outside shavings permitted. Stall charts will be posted online. Horses may start arriving after 9 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018. Early arrivals on Friday and late departures on Tuesday are only available by arrangement with Show Secretary at $40/night/stall. Cost applies to horse stalls or tack stalls. Stalls must be vacated by 9:00 pm Sunday or the late departure fee paid. All stallions must be stabled. There is a $65 penalty for switching horse stalls without notifying the Show Office in advance.
GSEC will charge a $100 fine for anyone bringing in shavings from outside the facility. No staples or nails are allowed to be affixed to any Great Southwest Equestrian Center Property with the exception of stall cards. Individuals wishing to tape advertisements or flyers to the walls must first obtain approval in writing from Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Such approval must be shown to Show Management prior to display or the flyers will be removed. THERE WILL BE NO SMOKING IN THE BARNS AND NEAR THE INDOOR WARM-UP ARENA. DESIGNATED SMOKING AREAS WILL BE PROVIDED. 6
Arenas: All tests and warm-up will be ridden in either the Main Arena or Tellepsen Arena with sand/clay footing. Competition arenas are 20m x 60m. No one on foot is allowed in designated warm ups. Lunging permitted in designated areas only. All horses in the warm-up arenas must wear their competition numbers. All arenas must be vacated while equipment is being used. Arenas close at 8:30 PM. Schedule for schooling will be posted at the show grounds. Two dressage arenas may be set up in Tellepsen Arena. To the extent that the measurement requirements of DR126f8 (regarding distance between arenas (less than 5 m) and distance to public (less than 1.5 m)-solid walls) are not met for Level 3, then those classes taking place in those two arenas will be run as Level 2. Level 3 classes (NAJYRC, Brentina, etc.) will be held in the Tellepsen Arena. Veterinarian: The veterinarian, Katy Equine (281) 391-8250, will be on call each show day. Phone numbers and information will be posted at the show grounds and in the show secretary’s office. Farrier: The farrier, Chris Guillory (713) 498-2428, will be on site each show day. Phone numbers and information will be posted at the show grounds and in the show secretary’s office. Schooling: Horses not entered in the show must be registered with the Horse show office and will be given a number to be worn at all times outside of the stall. Appropriate stall or ground fees and a non-compete and office fee per show must be paid. Any person(s) riding a schooling horse must have signed an official entry blank and/or release form and have provided a current Coggins and proof of flu/rhino vaccination record PRIOR TO UNLOADING HORSE. Schooling of noncompete horses are allowed in the warm-up area during competition hours if there is ample room in the arena. Noncompete horses may be requested to move to a different area or arena, as determined by Show Management or the Technical Delegate. Entry to include the correct number of stabling days. For those entrants request a weekend stall, office fees and non-compete fees must be paid for both show days. Anyone mounting, getting on, riding or trying a horse at the facility during the weekend of the show (including Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday) must sign a show release and wear a helmet. All coaches must sign a release, even if not entered in the show. Parking: Parking is allowed in designated areas only. All trailers whether connected to a truck or not must be parked either on the south side of the Main Arena or in the Trailer Parking lot under the power lines. Any trailer left for an inordinate amount of time or left in an unauthorized parking area will be booted and subject to a $100 fine or removed from the premises at owner’s expense.
Concessions are available at show grounds. No cooking is allowed on the premises. Dogs: Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwise
contained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs’ behaviors. Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under Chapters 6 and 7 of the USEF General Rules, as well as issuance of warning cards. Loose dogs will be impounded and the owner may be assessed a fine up to $200.00.

Awards: Award to 1st place winner and ribbons awarded to sixth place for Intro through FEI-GP. Qualifying classes will be run concurrently and not be pinned separately. Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons will be awarded for overall high point for Open, Amateur and Junior (excludes Freestyles, Equitation, Opportunity, Pas de Deux, Young Horse and Materiale classes.) Special Award Sponsored by Olva Pharo: Calvaveras County Diamond & Platinum Adult Amateur AwardBronze medal to be awarded to the highest averaged scores over the GSEC Diamond Classics I & II and GSEC Platinum Classics I & II in two sections. 1. Training through Third must compete at least 3 rides on same horse over two days (two classes one day and one class the other.) Highest score will count and be averaged with September show highest score (of three rides—see above) to determine winner. 2.) Fourth through Grand Prix must compete at least two rides on same horse over two days. Highest score will count and be averaged with October show highest score (of two rides—see above) to determine winner. Horse & rider must be the same and enter both SDEC Diamond Classics I & II and SGEC Platinum Classic I & II. Tests that will count are TrainingFourth, Tests 1, 2, & 3 and PSG, I-1, I-2, and GP. Equitation, opportunity classes, freestyles, and other classes not specifically listed are not eligible.

EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.
GR845 Equine Vaccination Rule At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers’ or veterinarian’s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. 5. Competition Management may not amend or enhance vaccination requirements without prior approval of the Veterinary Committee. BOD 1/17/15 Effective 12/1/15. Helmet Policy: Current USEF helmet policy will be strictly enforced. Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear. Sharps Containers: Competition management shall place a minimum of one sharps container per each competition, whether or not stabling is provided. Additionally, at least one sharps container per fifty occupied stalls for the disposal of needles and other disposable sharp instruments in convenient locations in barns housing competition horses. It is competition management’s responsibility to replace such containers when full and dispose of them properly. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. If local law has different requirements, local law will prevail. Motorized Vehicle Statement in accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4‐H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

Management reserves the right to change officials, limit entries, combine or cancel classes, and modify the schedule, and to modify or cancel awards and/or make whatever changes are required by circumstances to the competition specifications listed herein. Show Management reserves the right to cancel classes insufficiently filled and to refuse or require withdrawal of an entry for cause deemed sufficient by Show Management. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the show management whose decision shall be final. Every horse entered for competition will comply with the rules of the horse show management, but management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold this horse show and the officials and employees of the show blameless for any loss or accident to his horse, employees, equipment, which may occur from sickness, fire or otherwise. The management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors, prohibit entries and cancel award prizes without claims for damages; to cancel or combine unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges. Exhibitors are notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judges or officials, on the part of the owner, manager, rider, or groom shall disqualify the horse, and the owner shall forfeit his entry fee and other fees. Show management reserves to itself the power to prohibit any person from attending or showing a horse in the ring and to remove any groom or horse from the show without being liable for compensation. No person will be allowed in the show ring during the time of judging except the exhibitor and those having official or requested duties to perform. It is the tradition of the show that riders be correctly attired for the class in question, that attendants be neatly dressed and the horses properly presented. Management may in its discretion bar any person from entering the ring if not suitable presented to appear before an audience. 10
