Any horse entering the grounds must be accompanied by a negative Coggins, issued within the last twelve months for all Texas horses or within the last six months for out-of-state horses. A current health certificate issued within the last 30 days must also accompany all out of state entries. These must be presented at the show office before numbers will be issued for this or any other horses owned by the same owner.

Arrival/Departure Time: Stalls may be occupied for the regular fee between 8:00 AM Thursday, May 26, 2011 until 6:00 PM, Sunday May 29, 2011. Those planning to arrive early or stay late must contact show manager so that security can be arranged. The cost will be prorated among those staying late or arriving early. Early Arrival: Early arrivals (prior to 8:00 AM on Thursday) must notify Show Manager before May 23, 2011. Arena Floor dimensions: 150 ft. x 300 ft. ~ Footing: Clay base with fresh 60/40 Light Sand Mix Stabling: Stalls are of sturdy construction in good condition, safe for horses. All stalls are covered and doors are provided. STALLS ARE RESERVED UPON PAYMENT OF STALL FEES. No stall fees will be refunded. No requests for adjoining stalls from different owners will be honored unless all entries are mailed together. Feed & Bedding: Shavings in compressed bales will be provided at $12.00 per bale. The exhibitors must provide feed & hay. A listing of area feed stores will be available in the show office for your convenience. RV & Camper Hook-ups: Motor home and camper hook-ups will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis. At the rate of $35.00 per day. There are 45 available sites. A check for the total number of days must accompany requests for reservations. Warm up Arena: One covered warm up arena is available all during the show. The show arena may be used for warm-up up to 30 minutes before classes, during long breaks, and after show hours except for time needed for wetting and dragging. Dogs: All dogs must be leased on the show grounds. No dogs allowed in the stands. Vendors/Sponsors: All vendors or Show Sponsors must check in with the office before setting up. Registration Requirements: Arabians: Horses show in this division must have been issued a certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Registry of America, Inc., and/or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry, or, if under one year of age, be eligible for registry and registration applied for (Exception: Art. 1699V.1) and must be entered under their full registered name. (Only weanlings that have had registration applied for may show without registration papers.) A copy of the registration papers showing proof of ownership must be submitted with entry form at the time of making entries. Competition management is responsible for notifying exhibitors of this requirement. Half-Arabians: Horses shown in this section must have been issued a certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Association in the Half Arabian or the Anglo-Arabian Registry, or Canadian Part bred Arabian Registry, or if under one year of age, be eligible for registry and registration applied for and must be entered under their full registered name. AHA Membership Requirements: Membership in AHA is required for owners, trainers, drivers, riders, and halter handlers. All horses entered in any AHA approved show shall be owned by a member of AHA or the horse owner shall pay an additional fee of $10.00 per person to each AHA show. This provision shall not apply to any horse owner under 18 years of age. Any affiliated club of AHA provides and pays for an AHA membership for each of its members.

USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

Entry Information Entry Requirements: A horse may only be entered in the name of the legal owner and must be entered under its full registered name. No horses may be entered on more than one entry form. Horses will be entered in the owner's name as recorded on the registration papers. If a horse is being leased or purchased on a sales contract, the lessee or new owner must have his/her name listed as owner on proper documentation provided to the show secretary. No farm names will be listed unless the farm is the recorded owner of the horse. A photocopy of the registration papers must accompany each entry. Entries without these copies will not be processed. All required AHA and USEF membership numbers must be on the entry form, and photocopies of current cards must be included with each entry. Numbers will not be assigned unless entry forms are complete. Payment of Entries: Entry fees and other charges must accompany entries, or entries will not be accepted. Blank, signed checks are not acceptable. Entry Deadlines & Post Entries: Entries must be postmarked no later than May 9, 2011. Entries postmarked after this date will be considered Post entries. Entering a class at the show: This is not a "ride-through-the- gate" show. To enter a class at the show, fill out an "ADD/SCRATCH CLASS FORM" one half hour before the session you plan to show. Entries will be accepted up to class time, but a penalty of $10.00 will be assessed if done after the session starts. If a rider rides through the gate without entering the class, a fee of $10.00 will be charged. All Dressage classes must be entered in time to schedule a ride time. You may SCRATCH A CLASS at the gate, but you must fill out paper work in the office to receive a refund for the class. This MUST be done before the gate opening on the class you want to scratch. After the class commences you will not receive a refund. No Refunds for Dressage classes for any reasons. ARENA CONFLICT: Exhibitors who have scheduled classes in two different arenas during the same show session, and who are concerned about missing one of the scheduled classes because of conflict, are requested to notify the Paddock Managers of a possible conflict. It is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor to manage any conflict should a conflict occur. Show management will do its best to accommodate all exhibitors. 17


Refunds: Requests for refunds of class fees must be made in writing and accompanied by a veterinarian's certificate. Tack stall, horse stall, and office fees will not be refunded Championships: All entries placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, in qualifying class must enter the corresponding championship class or forfeit the prize money for the qualifying class. Horses will be excused with veterinarian certificate or if one handler qualifies more than one horse (please notify the show office in ADVANCE of the championship class if this is the case.) Championship classes must be entered at least 30 minutes before the session containing championship classes. The Show Office does not automatically enter horses qualified for Championship classes! Prizes: Trophy and six ribbons in regular halter, performance classes, sport horse under saddle classes and performance championship classes. Eight ribbons in equitation and ALL junior exhibitor classes, regular and championships. Trophy and Two ribbons in halter and sport horse in-hand championship classes. Premiums: There will no prize money paid for Buy-a-Classes, Halter, Equitation, Lead Line, Showmanship, Dressage, Sport Horse In-Hand or classes with fewer than six entries. Prize Money distribution for other classes is as follows: Regular Performance $12 $ 8 $ 5 Championship $20 $ 15 $ 10 JTR Championship $25 $ 20 $ 15 Prize money will be credited at the show and any checks will be mailed within 30 days after the show. All accounts must be paid before leaving the show grounds or a delinquent checkout charge will be assessed.

Exhibitor Rights and Responsibilities Indemnity and Responsibility: All entries are accepted with the understanding that neither Spindletop Arabian Horse Club, The Great Southwest Equestrian Center, the Show, The Show Committee, nor any Show Official will be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to any person, animal or property occasioned by him and the exhibitor shall indemnify the above mentioned parties against any and all loss, damages and liability thus occasioned, including but not limited to any and all legal costs, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the show shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the provisions herein set forth. USEF Accordance: The SAHC Spring Horse Show is a recognized by USEF Class "A" Arabian, Half-Arabian, Junior Exhibitor, and Half-Arabian Junior Exhibitor, USDF and approved by Arabian Horse Association for points toward Achievement awards and qualifying for Regional and National Championship shows. AHA ACCORDANCE: This show is conducted in accordance with the rules of the United States Equestrian Federation. The official book of the USEF will prevail for this show. This prize list is based on the rules of the current rulebook and the handbook of the Arabian Horse Association, where they apply respectively. Any changes or correction of rules will automatically become a part of the prize list. Each participant in this show is responsible for knowledge of and is subject the USEF rules. Every class offered which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rules book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. The show committee shall decide questions not covered by USEF rules and its decision will be final.

Class Specifications & Definitions EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.

Effective March 1, 2011, for dressage: Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St. Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test). Helmet requirements for adults are determined by the horse. If the horse is entered in any dressage test at Fourth Level or below then anyone riding that horse anywhere on the show grounds, including when schooling for/competing in other classes such as sport horse under saddle, show hack, and FEI dressage, must wear protective headgear (with an SEI tag, helmet and harness properly fitted and secured). Juniors entered in dressage at any level must wear protective headgear whenever mounted on their dressage horse, including when schooling for/competing in other classes. When cross entry by rider or horse/rider combination is permitted between Dressage and other Arabian classes at a competition, DR120 and DR121 apply only to the designated Dressage warm-up and competition areas, or when exhibitor is actually warming-up for Dressage class. EC 2/22/11 Effective 3/1/11 ATTENTION COMPETITORS Each competitor is responsible for supplying management with the correct association numbers (AHA, USDF, USEF) for the horse, owner, rider, and trainer, before the day(s) of the competition. The scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted toward nation awards. Amateur to Ride: Every rider 18 years old or older who enters in an Amateur to Ride class must have in his/her possession an Amateur Certification Card issued yearly by the USEF or make application for such certification at least one hour prior to riding in Amateur To Ride classes. Amateur Owner Member of Family: For horse show purposes the term "family" shall include the following: husband, wife, parent, step-parent, child, step-child, brother, sister, half-brother and sister, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandmother, grandfather, in-laws of the same relation as stated above. Junior Exhibitor: Limited to riders who have not yet reached their 18th birthday. For horse show purposes, the age of an individual on December 1st of the previous year shall be maintained throughout the entire year. Maiden, Novice and Limit Rider/Driver/Horse: Maiden Novice and Limit rider/driver/horse classes may be held using specifications from any of the performance sections in the Arabian Division. Maiden, novice and limit rider/driver/horse classes are open to those who have not won one (1), three (3) or six (6) first place ribbons respectively at Regular Member Arabian Competition in that particular performance section/division in which they are shown.

Select - AOTR, AAOTR, ATR, AATR, JOTR, JTR - - Riders in the Arabian, Half-Arabian, or Anglo-Arabian Divisions shall not be considered separately when competing in the same performance section. If a rider is eligible to compete as a Select rider in a performance section on December 1, said eligibility remains throughout the current competition year. (Said eligibility is determined beginning with Regional and National competitions of 1997). (Limited classes beginning in 2001.) Classes are open to rider/driver/handler who has not won any of the following: (1) One (1) AHA Regional Top Five or higher in that particular performance section in which they are shown. As an example, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Country English Pleasure and English Pleasure are each separate performance sections. (2) One (1) AHA National Top Ten or higher in that particular performance section in which they are shown. (3) Two (2) AHA Regional Champion Awards in a Select class in that particular performance section in which they are shown. (4) Two (2) AHA National Top Ten or higher awards in a Select class in that particular performance section in which they are shown. BOD 1/17/10 Effective 12/1/10 All Medal Classes: Open to juniors who have not yet reached their 18 th birthday prior to December 1. AHA medal classes with pattern must be held regardless of number of competitors. An AHA Medal class must have a minimum of three (3) competitors with proper appointments in order to have an AHA Medal awarded. For AHA Medal Classes with fewer than three (3) competitors Medal points will be earned. (Refer to Article 1709. (Res. 34-97) (Res. 1-97) (Res. 30-98) The official number of entries shall be the number of riders that are properly entered and appear in the arena at the time the gate is closed. A rider that is excused or eliminated during the class will not reduce this number. AHA Medal Classes - If a medal class does not fill it must be held as a regular equitation class with pattern. No medal will be awarded. To fill a class, THREE competitors with proper appointments must compete. AHA Saddle Seat Medal class - In addition to the rail work, all contestants are required to perform two or more individual tests from USEF Tests (EQ 120) 1-15 or EC equivalent. Markers shall not be used. AHA Reining Seat Medal class - All contestants are required to perform a Reining pattern as outlined in USEF Reining, or EC equivalent. (Res. 25-06).Order go will be done by draw. Bits must be dropped and inspected by the Judge or designated official, and all riders must dismount for this inspection. If called for in the ring, assistance, if necessary, may be had from one of the ring officials. Reins shall not be removed from the horse's neck while inspecting bits. In the event the total score is tied, the tie will first be broken by the exhibitor with the highest equitation score. Should a tie still exist, the tie shall be broken by reining rules found in COMP 812. In an AHA Reining Seat Medal class an off pattern rider is eliminated and is not eligible to win a medal or ribbon. The prescribed AHA Reining Seat Equitation Score Sheet must be used and posted in accordance with the USEF Arabian, Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Division, Subchapter Working Western rule regarding score sheets. (Res.25-06) See the USEF Equitation Division rule regarding “Numbers� under Conduct. (Res. 8/07) AHA Hunter Seat Not to Jump Medal class - In addition to the rail work, all contestants are required to perform two or more individual tests from USEF, Equitation Division, Tests From Which Judges Must Choose. All juniors riding in Hunt Seat Equitation section must wear protective headgear passing applicable ASTM standards (must be stamped inside the helmet) while riding in designated schooling & exercise areas, the show ring and while jumping anywhere on the show grounds

AHA Western Horsemanship Medal class - Following the rail work, all contestants are required to perform a minimum of four tests from the USEF Arabian, Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Division, Subchapter Western Horsemanship. (BOD 5/06) Walk-Trot/Jog: (See USEF rule XVI). Open to riders 10 years old & under, who has never been judged in a class at a recognized competition that requires a canter or lope. No cross entries into any other classes except halter or showmanship. NO STALLIONS ALLOWED (USEF Rule XVI, Chapter XXIV. Art. 1699). Lead line: Open to riders 2 through 6 years of age. No cross-entry is allowed into any other class in the show NO STALLIONS ALLOWED! BUY-A-CLASS: Request any class or any championship class, which has a qualifying class. All Buy-a-Classes must be chosen and paid for by entry closing date, May 9, 2011, so that other exhibitors may be notified. Buy-a-Class fee is $60.00 plus class entry fee. No one individual, trainer, or barn may buy more than two classes, unless all classes are not sold within two days of entry closing. Show committee must approve all. The following age breaks will be permitted: 10 & under; walk-trot, 13 & under; 14-17; 18-39; 40 & over. The following classes will be permitted with show committee approval: Contact Sherri Re at 281-513-5745 Arabian or HA English Pleasure, Country Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Park, Costume, Side Saddle, Pleasure Driving, Country Pleasure Driving, Reining, Trail, Dressage Intro, Training, First, Second Levels in the following classifications: AOTR, AAOTR, AATR, ATR JTR, JOTR Ladies, Gentlemen, Novice, Maiden, Limit, Select Rider Junior Horse, Limit Horse, Novice Horse, Maiden Horse Mares, Geldings, Stallions. Also included are: Walk-Trot Pleasure 10 & under or ATR; Walk-Trot/Jog Equitation 10 & under or ATR; – Open, ATR, JTR, AAOTR, JOTR, AATR, Junior Horse. UPHA CHALLENGE CUP: Open to all saddle seat equitation riders. Riding a mare or gelding of any breed. This class is an "open" UPHA class, enabling the top four (4) riders to qualify (see UPHA rules). The winner is eligible for chapter, National, or Junior UPHA Championships and is eliminated from future qualifying classes for the remaining season. A Challenge Cup and 8 ribbons are awarded. Must be purchased 30 days prior to show in order to get approval from UPHA. The following classes may NOT be purchased at this show: Cutting, working cow horse, hunter over fences, Jumper. Dressage – Dressage classes 300-331 are open to Purebred Arabians, Half-Arabians, and Anglo-Arabians, classes 400-431 are open to all breeds of horses. All classes must be pre-entered. Times will be published. Dressage entries close May 9, 2011. Entries accepted by post-marked dates, first-come first scheduled. If show is over subscribed a waiting list will be maintained Official ride times will be posted by Friday Afternoon May 28, 2011. 2011 USEF and USDF Tests will be used. Spindletop exhibitors showing on Sunday May 29, cannot cross entered the same horse into the Diamond Classic Show I.

Sport Horse In-Hand – To be shown on the triangle. As per USEF AR 161.1. Marker will be used to define the triangle. Horses are walked and trotted on the perimeter of the triangle, then stop and show in an “open position” for conformation judging. The horse is stood with the neck in a natural position and the handler stands away from horse with a loose lead. Halter championships will be determined by the two highest scores from the preceding classes of that division. Sport Horse Under Saddle - Sport Horse Performance will follow the performance classes’ provisions & regulations. If you place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the preliminary class, you must show back in the corresponding performance championship. Also you must scratch IN THE OFFICE on an official scratch form prior to the gate opening on that class to receive a refund. Class is to enter the ring counterclockwise at the trot. To be shown at the walk, trot, and canter both directions of the ring. Judge may request lengthening so stride at any gait and may request horse to back, either on the rail or in the line-up

General Information Cancellation or Combination of Classes: The Show committee reserves the right to cancel, combine, or divide any class to accommodate for an insufficient or excessive number of entries. Admission to the Arena: No person will be permitted to enter the arena except participants in the class, judges, and their assistants, show photographer and assistant, and show official and staff. Attendants: Attendants in charge of horses or assisting with preparation and showing of horses will be subject to order of the show Manager, Show Committee, or authorized agent. Attendants should be suitable and neatly dressed. Attendants will not be permitted in the arena until summoned by the judge. Calls For Classes - As a courtesy to our exhibitors, the public address system will be used to make barn calls if possible. However, exhibitors are responsible for seeing that entries reach the gate on time and should not rely solely on the P.A. system. Classes will be called promptly. The paddock manager should be notified of any special requirements and he/she may delay opening the gate for the next class for very brief accommodations. Please check your class schedule and make arrangements for fast change. Tack holds will only be granted for Back to Back classes and will be for 3 minutes per USEF rules. Request Tack Holds to the Paddock Master before the start of the session in which the tack change is necessary. The two-minute gate rule will be strictly enforced. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to be on time for his/her class regardless of difficulties with P.A. system. Discipline: Any act of dishonesty, discourtesy, or disobedience to horse show officials on the part of the owner, trainer, groom, or rider will disqualify the horse and exhibitor from adjudication. The management reserves the right to remove a groom, owner, trainer, horse, or rider from the show without being liable for compensation or damages. Protests - See USEF Chapter 6. Medical wastes: Needles and other sharp medical waste should be disposed of in the Sharps Containers, which are located at various sites in the alleyways of the barn area. 22


Judges: In the event of illness or failure of a judge or any other official to attend this show or to perform his duties, the Show Committee, reserves the right to substitute an official for the one who was officially designated in the prize list according to USEF rules. Cruelty or Abuse: Cruelty or abuse is forbidden on the show grounds. Such action(s) will be penalized by the show Committee According to USEF Rule III, Article 302. Excessive harm by any person including but not limited to the use of a whip or other object on any horse in a stall, runway, schooling area, show ring or elsewhere on the grounds before, during or after the show renders the offender subject to penalty. Judges shall enforce this rule in the ring. Submitting a signed entry constitutes acceptance of these provisions. USEF Drug Fees: To provide funds for research, inspection, and enforcement of rules regarding use of medication and drugs, each exhibitor must pay $15.00 per horse entered including halter and equitation horses. Identification Numbers: rider, driver, or handler shall prominently display the assigned number of each entry when the entry is exhibited. Motorized Vehicle Statement In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. Map to the Great Southwest Equestrian Center
