STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs traded steady to 10.00 lower on comparable tests. Feeder lambs traded 10.00 – 20.00 lower on comparable test from last week. Slaughter ewes traded steady to 5.00 lower. Slaughter kids traded unevenly steady. Trade activity was moderate to good and buyer demand was good to very good.

In the sheep supply 28% slaughter lambs, 27% feeder lambs, 40% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance replacement ewes and bottle lambs. The goat supply consisted of 68% slaughter kids, 15% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Over 350 head of slaughter cattle sold today. We had some very nice lean beef cows who ranged from $110-132.00. Fleshy beef cows averaged right between $110-113.00. Demand for both beef cows and Holstein slaughter cows averaged $2-3 higher today as compared to last week. There were a lot of lean, gant Holstein cows today with loads coming from Carpenter, WY and Ft. Lupton, Loveland and Pierce and the market responded positively. The nice lean cows ranged from $15.00-119.00 while the smooth and fleshy Holsteins brought 103.00110.50. The feeder sale highlighted some good looking black hided heifers from Parker, steers out of Ault, and bull calves out of Ft. Lupton. Today’s bull sale was pretty exciting to watch as a double muscled, black hided bull weighing 1875# brought $162.00!
