STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: All classes of sheep traded sharply lower on a light test from the previous week. Decreased buyer interest on all classes of sheep. All goat classes are compared to a very thin test last week. Kid goats were steady to weak on comparable trades. Nannies/Does traded steady and slaughter bucks traded 20.00 – 25.00 lower. Traded activity was moderate on light buyer demand. In the sheep supply 34% slaughter lambs, 23% slaughter ewes and bucks, 37% feeder lambs, with the balance being replacement ewes. The goat supply consisted of 53% slaughter kids, 39% slaughter nannies, 8% slaughter billies and wethers and balance being replacement nannies. Overall, the market today averaged $5 softer as compared to last week. Numbers were down as well, with approximately 320 head of slaughter cows and bulls represented today. Bulls were again strong, however topped the market at $3 lower than last week. Holstein slaughter cows averaged in the upper nineties for smooth fleshed cows, and low to mid nineties for lean. Fat beef cows from Platteville and Briggsdale topped the market, averaging $105, lean beef cows averaged in the high nineties.
