STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: All classes of sheep traded weaker undertone on a light test from the previous week. Decreased buyer interest on all classes of sheep. All goat classes are compared to a very thin test last week. Kid goats were steady to firm on comparable trades. Nannies/Does traded 5.00 lower and slaughter bucks traded 5.00 – 10.00 lower. Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 24% slaughter lambs, 28% slaughter ewes and bucks, 24% feeder lambs, with the balance being replacement ewes. The goat supply consisted of 23% slaughter kids, 63% slaughter nannies, 14% slaughter billies and wethers and balance being replacement nannies. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

RECEIPTS: 1137 LAST WEEK: N/A YEAR AGO: N/A Compared to last week: No price trend analysis available on feeder steers and heifers due to no recent comparable sales. Trading activity was moderate on good to very good buyer demand. The supply consisted of 87 percent feeder cattle, 12 percent slaughter cows and bulls, with the balance being replacement cows. The feeder cattle supply was comprised of approximately 45 percent steers and 55 percent heifers. Approximately 85 percent of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.

Overall, the market today was slightly softer as compared to last for most slaughter cattle and numbers were light with just about 375 slaughter cattle sold. Beef cows were steady, perhaps slightly higher by $1, though quality today of the beef cows was better than last week. The majority of beef cows sold today were of excellent quality and ranged from $105-121.50. Several very nice loads of slaughter cows came in today, notable consignments from Ft. Lupton and Milliken topped the market, with fat slaughter cows averaging $97.50. Lean Holstein cows ranged in the low to mid ninties and thin cows in the eighties. Bulls continued to hold on with an impressive range of $117-131.50 for the high sellers.
