Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs and feeder lambs were 1.00 -4.00 higher on a very thin test. Slaughter ewes were 4.00 higher. Kid goats traded 3.00- 5.00 lower on a thin test. Nannies/does traded 3.00 -10.00 higher and bucks/ billies traded 8.00 higher. Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 15% slaughter lambs and 35% feeder lambs, 45% slaughter ewes and bucks. The goat supply consisted of 45% slaughter kids, 50% slaughter nannies, 5% slaughter billies and wethers and the balance being replacement nannies. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Just under 400 head of slaughter cattle were sold today with the market about $2-4 lower for bulls and beef cows, the slaughter cow market was slightly softer, by $1. Demand for lean slaughter cows and fat slaughter cows had a lot of overlap with strong demand for lean and weak demand for fat. Lean beef cows ranged from $101.50 -108.00/cwt. Fat beef cows ranging from $104.00-110.00. Holstein slaughter cows were $1 lower overall, but like beef cows, demand for lean cows was strong. Lean Holstein cows ranged $89.00-98.00, and fat Holstein cows ranging from $91.00-$98.00. On both the beef and Holstein sides, there were a lot of nice smooth cows, but they were full, which likely contributed to lower prices overall. Highlights include two loads of lean beef cows out of UT and ID and feeder bulls from SD who sold quite well.
