STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs traded mostly steady to 10.00 lower on comparable tests. Feeder lambs did not have enough comparable tests to compare for an accurate test. Slaughter ewes traded steady to unevenly steady. Slaughter kids traded unevenly steady. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. In the sheep supply 54% slaughter lambs, 3% feeder lambs, 40% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance bottle lambs. The goat supply consisted of 85% slaughter kids, 11% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted. Wednesday, May 20 2015 Around 300 head of slaughter cattle sold today. Lean and muscled cattle are beating out fleshier cattle in all categories and have for some time now. Lean beef cows continue to sell well, especially those who are on the younger side. Loads out of Evanston, WY and Panaca NV topped the market ranging 112.50-120.00. Fleshy beef cows ranged 107.00-118.00. Highlights of today’s slaughter sale included cows from Wiggins, Milliken and Corinne, UT. Lean Holstein cows ranged 104.00-112.50. Really nice sets of black bulls from Gill and Panaca NV topped the bull market.

Next Week: May 28th - Special Sheep & Goat Sale - Early consignment of 13 Boer goats, 10 head of full blood Boer Billies, all colors with papers, 8 kids, 6 nannies, 10 lambs, 15 mised goats. Along with our usual cattle sale, 8 mixed feeders, 6 pairs, 9 butcher cows, 2 butcher bulls. Along with our usual dock run 300-400.
Please have butcher cattle in by 9:30 or bring them in the day before. Most of the time they will be sold by 12:30 on Thursday. Sheep must be unloaded into our yard by 10:00 OR bring them in the day before. Please have bred cows in by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday for our vet to preg check.
