STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs traded mostly steady to 10.00 higher on comparable tests. Feeder lambs did not have enough comparable tests to compare for an accurate trend. Slaughter ewes traded steady to 10.00 higher. Slaughter kids traded unevenly steady. Trade activity and demand were moderate to good. In the sheep supply 48% slaughter lambs, 9% feeder lambs, 36% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance bottle lambs. The goat supply consisted of 60% slaughter kids, 26% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted. Over 475 head of slaughter cattle sold today. Lean, well muscled bulls sold quite well today and we had a large number out of LaSalle. The beef cow market was slightly lower than last week, although we had very nice lean cows out of Ft. Bridger WY who topped the market and averaged $123.50. The rest of the lean beef cows ranged 109.50-117.00, and fleshy beef cows ranged 110.00116.50. Beef cows on the thinner side ranged 103.00-113.00. Highlights of today’s slaughter sale included young, lean cows from Wiggins, and LaSalle. Lean Holstein cows were fairly steady as compared to last week and lean cows ranged 103.50-114.00. Fleshier Holstein cows averaged $105.00 and thinner cows with decent body condition hovered right around $100.00. We featured a complete dispersal today for a customer from Ault which showcased black hided pairs and bred cows. Cows all had nice calves at their side, but ranged in age and therefore ranged in price from $1800-3025/Pair. Bred cows varied in months bred as well as age too, and ranged $1485-1925/HD.
