STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs were 10.00 – 20.00 higher and feeder lambs were 7.00 – 10.00 higher on comparable tests.

Slaughter ewes were 8.00 – 10.00 higher and slaughter bucks were sharply higher. Slaughter kids traded unevenly steady and nannies traded sharply higher, while bucks remained steady. Trade activity was good and demand was moderate. In the sheep supply 33% slaughter lambs, 29% feeder lambs, 37% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance bottle lambs. The goat supply consisted of 69% slaughter kids, 20% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Lean Holstein cows ranged $103-111.50 and fleshier Holstein cows averaged $104.00. The lean to smooth fleshed beef cows ranged $105-118.00 with the higher end being those on the young side. A nice group of younger, smooth fleshed black hided cows out of Cheyenne topped today’s market. Another highlight of today were feeder bulls from Strasburg who averaged 768# and brought $167.10.
