Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs and feeder lambs had no test. Slaughter ewes traded 3.00 – 7.00 lower. Slaughter kids traded 2.00 – 20.00 lower. Slaughter nannies traded 10.00 lower.

Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 20% slaughter lambs, 42% feeder lambs, 38% slaughter ewes and bucks with the balance being replacement ewes. The goat supply consisted of 56% slaughter kids, 40% slaughter nannies, 4% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Over 330 head of slaughter cattle were sold today, with the market higher on all classes of slaughter cattle. A record was again broken with a fat, black slaughter bull out of Eaton who weighed 2195# bringing $149.00. Beef slaughter cows were higher today with lean beef cows ranging $119.00-134.00.

Fat beef cows ranged $127.00-139.00. Holstein slaughter cows were the star of the show today, with excellent quality throughout, especially as seen from a dairy near Wiggins.

Overall, Holstein cows averaged $5 higher as compared to last week. Lean Holstein slaughter cows were in high demand and ranged $119.50-128.00, with fat Holsteins ranging $117.00130.00. A nice set of bred cows from Montrose, ranging from 4+-7+ months bred averaged $1950/hd.
