STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs were unevenly steady and feeder lambs were steady to 5.00 higher on comparable tests.

Slaughter ewes traded mostly steady to 6.00 lower and slaughter bucks were steady to 5.00 lower. Slaughter kids traded mostly 3.00 – 5.00 higher, while nannies traded steady to sharply higher and billies traded steady to 25.00 lower. Trade activity was good and demand was moderate. In the sheep supply 30% slaughter lambs, 33% feeder lambs and 37% slaughter ewes and bucks. The goat supply consisted of 68% slaughter kids, 24% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Wednesday, August 20, 2015 A little less than 300 head of slaughter cattle sold today and the market was again fairly steady in all classes of cattle for comparable quality from previous weeks.

Holstein cows with good to excellent body condition ranged from 101.50-110.50. Those in good condition ranged 95.00-103.50. Highlights of today’s sale were some very nice red and black steers and heifers out of Ft. Lupton. See below for a representative sample of animals sold, not all animals are listed due to space limitation.

On a personal note, we are happy to introduce our new auctioneer, Brian Weitzel. Brian will also be managing the cattle and hay sales, in addition to auctioneering.

Brian comes from Brush, CO and has been in the cattle business for many years. We are excited to welcome him to the Producers family.
