STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: No price trend available on slaughter lambs due to limited comparable sales. Feeder lambs traded mostly 3.00 – 9.00 higher. Slaughter ewes and bucks traded mostly steady. In the goat trade, slaughter kids traded mostly steady. Slaughter nannies traded mostly steady to 10.00 higher.

Due to a very thin test no market analysis is available on slaughter billies and wethers. Trade activity was moderate on good buyer demand. In the sheep supply 13% slaughter lambs, 38% slaughter ewes and bucks and 49% feeder lambs. The goat supply consisted of 80% slaughter kids, 16% slaughter nannies and 4% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold

State and federal reporting Compared to last week: Steers traded mostly 2.00 – 3.00 higher on comparable sales. Due to limited comparable sales from the previous week no price trend available on heifers, however a higher undertone was noted. Many groups of preconditioned,

reputation cattle on supply this week. Trading activity was active on good buyer demand. The supply included approximately 97% feeder cattle with the balance consisting of replacement stock.

In the feeder supply 51% steers and 49% heifers. About 31% of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.

Heifer calves weighing under 500 lbs were mostly 2.00 to 6.00 lower where comparable sales were noted. Buyer demand was very good for feeder heifers weighing over 500 lbs with heifers trading 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Demand was very good, with the most advances seen on reputation sets of cattle with fall shots and at least a 30 day wean. Trading activity was active. Slaughter cows traded mostly 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady to firm. The supply consisted of 92 percent feeder cattle and the balance percent slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder cattle supply was comprised of approximately 58 percent steers and 42 percent heifers. Approximately 55 percent of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.

At auction: over 500 head of beef cows and heiferettes, 400 head of feeders, 400 head of holstein cows and 40 bulls were sold today. Bulls were up in comparison to last week, averaging $89.50.

Beef cows were higher this week by $3-4 with fat cows from wyoming topping the market in the mid 90’s to $107.00. Holstein cows were higher lower this week by $2, with lean cows averaging in the high 70’s and, and fat holstein cows averaging in the low 80’s. Feeder cattle sold strong today.
