STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs and bucks were too thinly traded for an adequate market test. Slaughter ewes traded 3.00 5.00 higher. Feeder lambs traded mostly steady on a thin test. Slaughter kids traded 5.00 10.00 lower on a light test. Slaughter nannies, billies and wethers were too thinly traded for an adequate market test.

Winter showed up on the front range of Colorado this week bringing lows around zero and the highs in the single digits. Limited snow accumulation came with this cold snap. Consigners opted to sit this week out giving buyers limited offerings to fill orders. The majority of the sheep today consisted of a set of ewes that had been in a feedlot.

Trade activity was light on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 10% slaughter lambs and 19% feeder lambs, 71% slaughter ewes and bucks. The goat supply consisted of 90% slaughter kids, 5% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers.

Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Feeder steers traded 2.00-4.00 higher and feeder heifers traded 9.00 -10.00 higher. Trading activity was moderate on very good buyer demand. There was a good crowd for the bred cow part. Demand for cattle over 800 lbs is in high demand with cattle inventories at record lows during this fall calf run. The supply included approximately 50% feeder cattle with the balance consisting of replacement stock. In the feeder supply 72%steers and 28% heifers. In the feeder supply approximately 44% weighed over 600 lbs.

The bull market WED. NOV 26TH, 10:30 AM was slightly lower and averaged $129.50. Fleshy beef cows Advanced Consignments ranged $114.50-127.00, lean beef cows ranged 106.50119.50, and thin beef cows averaged 99.00. Lean and smooth November 19, 2014 Holstein cows had a lot of overlap and ranged 105.50-115.00. TOWN HD# KIND WEIGHT COMMENTS Highlights of today’s beef cow sale included lean and fleshy AULT, CO 25 MOSTLY BLK BRED COWS 74 BLK STRS 500-600# PRE-COND cows with excellent body condition from Pierce, Cheyenne, WALDON, CO WALDON, CO 8 BLK HFRS 475# PRE-COND Kremmling and various locations in Utah.
