STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Due to a thin test of comparable sales no trend available on slaughter lambs. Feeder lambs traded mostly steady to 3.00 higher on comparable sales. Slaughter ewes and bucks traded mostly steady. In the goat trade, limited comparable sales on slaughter kids less than 60 lbs with kids over 60 lbs trading steady to 3.00 higher. Slaughter nannies traded mostly steady. Due to a very thin test no market analysis is available on slaughter billies and wethers. Trade activity was moderate on good buyer demand. In the sheep supply 9% slaughter lambs, 34% slaughter ewes and bucks and 57% feeder lambs. The goat supply consisted of 70% slaughter kids, 27% slaughter nannies and 3% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Heifers on limited comparable sales from the previous week traded unevenly steady. Trading activity was moderate on good demand. The supply included approximately 97% feeder cattle with the balance consisting of replacement stock. In the feeder supply 65% steers and 35% heifers. About 20% of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs. Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday no sale next week. The next available report will be available December 5, 2013.

Federal & State Reporting Service Compared to last week: Slaughter cows traded mostly steady.

Slaughter bulls traded 2.00 lower on a very light test. Increased buyer demand was noted for Young Feeding Cows and Heifers. As a result, feeder cows traded 8.00 to 10.00 higher. Trading activity was active on good buyer demand. The supply was comprised of approximately 61 percent slaughter cows and bulls and the balance feeding cows and bulls.

Receipts: 1804 Last Week: 1732 Year Ago: 1662 Compared to last week: Feeder steers traded mostly 7.00 to 10.00 lower with the exception of steer calves weighing between 600-650 lbs which traded near steady. Heifers calves weighing under 650 lbs traded 1.00 to 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers weighing over 650 lbs were mostly steady.

Demand was moderate with the most advances seen on reputation sets of cattle with fall shots and at least a 45 day wean. Trading activity was moderate. Slaughter cows traded mostly steady. Slaughter bulls were 2.00 higher. The supply consisted of 62 percent feeder cattle, 35 percent slaughter cows and bulls, and 3 percent replacement stock. The feeder cattle supply was comprised of approximately 51 percent steers and 49 percent heifers. Approximately 49 percent of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.

At auction: 330 head of beef cows and 35 bulls, almost 300 head of feeders, and over 300 head of holstein cows were sold today. Bulls were stronger by $2-4. Fat beef cows were steady to a dollar lower and ranged in the upper 80s to low 90’s with lean cows averaging in the low 80s, and thin beef cows in the mid 70s. Beef cows, bred 3-5 mo averaged in the low 80s. Fat holstein cows averaged in the upper 70s, lean holstein cows averaged in the low 70s. 200-300 # Feeder cattle were slightly lower as compared to last week, while 350+ feeder cattle were steady to a little bit higher.
