Charles Archibeque City of Greeley Memories ::: December, 2016
Charlie Archibeque began his long and strong career at the City as a Building Inspector. But, public service to his community remained in his heart so, after retirement, he offered his service again as Ward I Councilmember, a position he was easily and repeatedly elected to.
He found out there was a lot of swearing in this City position.
Charlie's tenure of service spanned many different City Councils over the years ...
A reunion of former Council members reflects the fact that Charlie was an important member of a special and impressive collection of community leaders
After years of important Ward I representation, Charlie "trained" his last set of colleagues, all who still serve on Council as of today
Charlie developed many important friendships and partnerships in his time on Council.
He also served as the City Council representative and Chair of the Greeley-Weld Airport Authority, a position for which he was especially respected and appreciated.
In his Council position he and his colleagues were often invited to learn more about new industry to assist in making thoughtful and informed decisions.
Charlie is a strong family man (with a LOT of family) who always stood behind him in obvious pride.
Charlie's special leadership was evident and appreciated on the local level ....
..... and as a spokesperson for national elected offices as well.
City duties would see Charlie helping to lead the Cinco de Mayo parade with fellow Councilmembers....
....and celebrating the annual (and sometimes frigid) Arbor Day dedication in his neighborhood.
Community Celebrations are of special value to Charlie
Above all, Charlie's history and love for his Sunrise Neighborhood stands out as evidence of how one person can make a difference
Charlie was the Master of Ceremonies at a special Sunrise Neighborhood Celebration which focused on the history and development of area.
So many wonderful stories and obvious affection for Charlie, their adopted "East Side Mayor".
Whether in the neighborhood or sitting at a formal Council dais, Charlie has always been....well....Charlie. Who would want anything but?
