STATE AND federal reporting Compared to two weeks ago: Slaughter lambs traded mostly 3.00 – 4.00 higher. Feeder lambs traded mostly 10.00 – 13.00 higher following increased demand in regional markets. Slaughter ewes traded mostly steady with the exception of Good Yield grade 2-3 which traded 10.00 lower. No trend available on slaughter bucks due to limited comparable sales from two weeks ago, however, a lower undertone was noted. Slaughter kids traded unevenly steady.

Slaughter nannies traded mostly steady. No market analysis on slaughter billies due to limited comparable sales, however, a lower undertone was noted. Slaughter wethers traded mostly weak to steady. Increased buyer presence was noted this week as this was the annual Lamb BBQ special. Trade activity was moderate to active on good buyer demand. In the sheep supply 22% slaughter lambs, 40% feeder lambs, 31% slaughter ewes and bucks and 7% replacement ewes. The goat supply consisted of 58% slaughter kids, 21% slaughter nannies and 21% slaughter billies and wethers.

Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Receipts: 505 Two Weeks Ago: 998 Year Ago: 1373 Compared to two weeks ago: there was not enough feeder steers and heifers to establish an adequate market trend. A firmer undertone was noted. Buyer demand was good to very good. Slaughter cows traded 4.00 to 5.00 lower and bulls traded mostly 1.00 to 2.00 lower. Trading activity was moderate. The supply consisted of 76 percent feeder cattle and the balance percent slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder cattle supply was comprised of approximately 63 percent steers and 37 percent heifers.

Approximately 65 percent of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.
