Wednesday, March 9, 2016 Nearly 450 head of slaughter cattle and over 500 feeders sold today. Bulls showed a correction from last week’s sharp rise and averaged in the upper $90’s. Beef cows were slightly higher than last week, ranging $73-80 for lean and $76-85 for younger or fleshier cattle. Holstein cows were just a bit lower without much difference in prices between lean and fleshy cattle. Younger Holstein cows in very good body condition ranged $70.5076. Older Holsteins also in good body condition ranged $64.50-71.50. Today’s feeders were a highlight with long time customers from Grover, known for raising excellent feeding cattle, returning with over 275 head. Other feeder highlights today were out of Eaton, Ft. Morgan and Mt. Home, UT.
