Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs traded mostly 8.00 – 10.00 lower. Feeder lambs traded steady. Slaughter ewes were 2.00 – 5.00 lower. In the goat supply slaughter kids traded steady to sharply lower, while slaughter nannies were 5.00 – 10.00 lower. Trade activity and demand was good. In the sheep supply 33% slaughter lambs, 17% feeder lambs, 42% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance ewes returning to the country and bottle lambs weighing between 5-15 lbs selling for 37.50 – 42.50 per head. The goat supply consisted of 72% slaughter kids, 14% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Wednesday, March 16, 2016 The market was higher by an average of $5 on all classes of cattle. Fleshy beef cows ranged in the mid to upper $80s with their leaner counterparts slightly lower and ranging in the mid $70s to mid $80s. A group of fleshy beef cows out of Gill averaged over $83. Two fleshy young cows brought $96-97 out of Windsor. Holstein slaughter cows- both lean and their fleshier counterparts in very good body condition ranged right around $74-85.00, those with good body condition ranged $70-75.
