It’s all about the beef at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse.

A long-time local favorite, Cattlemen’s uses corn-fed Premium Angus beef for its steaks. Besides using the finest quality and cuts of meat, Cattlemen’s ages the meat 21 to 26 days for flavor and tenderness before cutting it.

“Ninety-nine percent of the entrees we sell are steaks,” said owner/manager Ali Emrani. Emrani opened Cattlemen’s in Greeley in 1986. At that time, he worked in the restaurant trade in Fort Collins and he noticed many Greeley residents making the trek to Fort Collins in search of a good steak.

When Emrani looked at Greeley’s demographics – an agricultural community, full of farmers and cattlemen – he decided that Greeley would be a good location for a steak-

Cattlemen’s also serves a 20-ounce steak, which is a favorite of both farmers and oil-field workers, said Emrani. “Some customers even order two twenty-ounce steaks at once!” he said.

“Our soup and salad bar is among the best in Northern Colorado, said Emrani. We use fresh, well-kept ingredients, and our vegetable beef soup is a recipe we have been serving since we first opened. We sell gallons and gallons of our soup as takeout.”

Prime rib is available on Friday and Saturday only, because “we believe prime rib is best served right from the oven and not reheated,” Emrani said.

Besides the high quality food, customers also enjoy Cattlemen’s relaxed and elegant atmosphere according to Emrani. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with antique farm implements, “which hold a sentimental history for many of our customers,” he said.

Lucky Fins offers fresh flavors, fresh ingredients and a consistently fresh menu.

“We push the envelope on seafood,” said Ken Boyle, Market Partner at Lucky Fins. “We bring all the flavors of the word – Middle Eastern, Moroccan, Asian, South-of-the-Border – into our dishes. Nothing at Lucky Fins is traditional.

Even our fish and chips has a Lucky Fins’ flair.”

The restaurant’s sushi has been a surprise hit. “Every age group seems to be acquiring a taste for it,” said Boyle. “Sushi is an art form,” he said, “It takes a unique, special, artistic individual to do it.” Even the sushi often has a Lucky Fins’ twist.

“We allow our chefs to get creative,” said Boyle.

The restaurant offers specials – fresh Alaskan King Crab, mahi-mahi, swordfish, and mako shark – based upon seasonal availability. Photos of the weekly specials are posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page (Lucky Fins Seafood Grill – Greeley, Colorado).

Americans eat 27 billion chicken wings each year according to the National Chicken Council. But Doug Baker, Director of Marketing for Wing Shack, wants you to know that not all wings are created equal.

“There are a lot of ‘wing shacks’ throughout the country,” Baker said, “but when you eat at the Wing Shack, you get Wing Shack Wings, which are the best you can get.”

Before he became part of the company, Baker was a customer. The original Wing Shack opened in Garden City in 2004. Wing Shack founder Brian Seifried still owns all four locations – Garden City, West Greeley, Loveland and Windsor.

Seifried “raised the bar on quality for chicken wings,” said Baker.

“We use the highest quality chicken and our wings are always fresh, never frozen,” he said, “and we offer

twelve mouth-watering, homemade sauces, ranging from mild to extremely hot and featuring both tangy and spicy flavors.

“A customer favorite is our Garlic Hot Sauce, a traditional buffalo-style sauce with added crushed red pepper and garlic,” Baker said. “The fresh minced garlic really makes the other flavors pop.” Other top-selling sauces include Hot, a traditional buffalo wing sauce, and Golden Hot, a rich, butter-based sauce with a habanero kick.

Wing Shack offers traditional wings and a battered, boneless version.

Other menu items include sandwiches, wraps, salads and finger foods, “but most customers come for the wings,” he said.

Wings are best when shared. Wing Shack’s most popular deal is their Wing Monday special, which is

.50 cent wings all day with the purchase of a drink for every 25 wings ordered.

Baker quipped: “I defy you to find a better deal on wings in town; It’s perfect for families, roommates, or a game day get together.”

Dedicated wing fans might consider booking the Wing Shack’s mobile food truck.

The food truck has worked weddings and corporate events as well as participating in the Greeley Stampede and the Windsor Harvest Festival. “We also have brewery friends that allow us to park the food truck near the brewery for a day,” Baker said.

Whether you stop by a Wing Shack location; order take-out; or happen upon the food truck, Baker says, “Once those wings hit your lips, you will be immediately converted to a Wing Shack Wings fan.”

Alberto’s has been serving fine Mexican food in Greeley for more than 20 years.

When owner/manager Ali Emrani took over the restaurant in 2013, he kept the menu items created by restaurant founder Alberto Morales but redesigned the recipes to incorporate fresh, healthy ingredients.

“We use pure vegetable oil for everything, including the chips and fried beans,” he said. “We do not use lard whatsoever. Our ground beef is cooked in water so that the fat is cooked out of it, and for the steak we use premium Angus beef. All of the dishes are fixed with the freshest ingredients on the market.”

Different varieties are available every day of the week, from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Most customers take their breakfast burrito orders out, but a few customers come in and sit in the dining area. Emrani said that the Steak and Potato breakfast burrito, offered on Friday mornings, is among the restaurant’s most popular.

Entrees include burritos, enchiladas, tostadas, chimichangas and combination plates. Popular dinner choices include Carne Asada, the Fajita Dinner, and the Steak and Potato

burrito, all of which feature premium Angus beef.

“Of course Alberto’s is also known for our hot green chili,” said Emrani, “It is an original recipe and it is the best hot green chili in the area.”

One way to wash down that hot chili is with one of Alberto’s fourteen different flavors of Margaritas, served either frozen or on the rocks. Alberto’s frozen Top-shelf Margarita, made with Grand Mariner, tequila and strawberries, is a customer favorite.

Heather Bean, Founder/ Manager of Syntax Spirits Distillery, wants you to know Syntax is an authentic craft distiller. “We truly are grain-to-glass,” she said.

“We make everything from scratch, using local ingredients, and we do everything right here on site.”

Bean and co-founder Jeff Copeland established Syntax Spirits Distillery in Greeley in 2010. Class V™ Vodka was their first product. “It is made from 100 percent local wheat,” Bean said. “It’s very smooth. It’s actually my favorite of our spirits just to sip. I usually don’t mix it with anything, but it mixes well with all the classic vodka drinks. It makes a great vodka martini.”

“turned out to be one of our most versatile products,” Bean said. “It’s great in Bloody Marys, but also in grapefruit juice, apple cider and hot cocoa.” Syntax also makes Devious Vanilla™ Vanilla-Flavored Vodka, socalled “because it finds its way into breakfast beverages like coffee and orange juice,” she said.

Despite the flagship vodka products, Syntax is more than a vodka distillery. Syntax makes Powder™ White Rum with a “nice, smooth, molasses taste that mixes well in mojitos, daiquiris, and hot buttered rum” and Big Cat™ White Whisky, “which is fantastic in drinks like margaritas that would usually take tequila.” Syntax also makes a Bourbon Whisky from 100% local corn, wheat, and barely and pure Colorado whitewater, then barrel-aged for two years.

For those who prefer their spirits in mixed drinks, Syntax has a tasting room/ cocktail bar featuring signature and classic cocktails, seasonal infused spirits, and locally-produced munchies including a MouCo cheese plate; chips and salsa; hummus; and (of course) pretzels.

Syntax’ cocktail bar attracts “a ridiculously diverse crowd,” said Bean. “We have people from every background imaginable – from college students to 85-yearolds, and from college professors to oil rig roughnecks. The conversation is always interesting!”

If you time your visit right, you can participate in one of the distillery’s free tours.

“The tours are fun,” said Bean, “because we can show you the whole process, truly from grain-to-glass.”
