2016 - 2017 Annual Report to the Community

Jonie L. Paye, Board Chair

to upgrade our technology to meet the growing needs of our members, donors and visitors; and with improved guest tracking, we can show that we are adding an additional $6 million to our local economy.

From our Board Chair

Our extraordinary and growing garden has experienced a wonderful year.

On behalf of our entire Garden family, I want to thank our staff, volunteers, members, donors and our Board of Directors for your contribution of time, talent and resources, making our Garden rich with amazing beauty. I am grateful to everyone who helps to provide a Garden for all seasons and one that continues to inspire and refresh all who come.

Last year, we announced our goal to launch the Perennial Performance Campaign for a Grand Garden & Amphitheater. This year, I am pleased to report that we are close to our financial goal and will be celebrating the grand opening September 7-9 with a series of events for our Garden family to enjoy. The Garden’s finances are in solid shape as we strive to be faithful stewards of every dollar that is received. With the success of the recent Capital Campaign, we will be adding an additional $1 million plus to our endowment fund, ensuring a sustainable future. Our educational outreach program continues to expand to more area grade schools and after-care programs, teaching hundreds of youth about the world of horticulture.

Nominations Due for Board Term starting November 1

Our participation in plant trials continues to expand and our contribution to the research and introduction of new annuals and perennials is significant, even on an international scale.

The Garden has a few open seats for three-year terms to the Board of Directors, starting November 1. The Governance Committee, chaired by Julia Johnson, is seeking candidates with experience in promotions management, entertainment, fund development and marketing. If you are interested, applications are due by August 26.

Visitation and membership remain strong with over 125,000 visitors in our fiscal year 2017 and nearly 3,000 members. We’ve continued

For a copy of the nomination form, contact Executive Director, Susan Garot, at 920.491.3691 ext. 102 or sgarot@gbbg.org.
