he staff of The Greeneville Sun is pleased to bring you the first of four Around The Town magazines we will publish in 2020. “Around The Town” combines three months of events and goings-on in and around our communities. The Sun staff visited friends and neighbors throughout Greene County, asking folks if we could take a picture of them doing normal everyday things they do, that make our communities such great places to live. We were overwhelmed by so many warm and welcoming people who were excited about the opportunity of sharing what they do in their everyday lives, creating smiling faces and happy places. Winner of the January 25th Appalachian Auditorium STAR SEARCH, Chris Johnson is only 23 years old and has been performing since he was 15. He plays guitar, trumpet and sings. He will be joined by Dennis Murphey, Jim Archer, Freddie Dean and Elmer Ofelt. They were FANTASTIC and won the ability to be our April 18th band! Come enjoy classics like “Tennessee Whiskey”, “Boot Scoot Boogie”, and Workin’ Man Blues”. Look out for the line dancers! Preceding The Chris Johnson Band is special guest Deanna Rose, another STAR SEARCH winner. Deanna is from Nashville and has settled in Candler, NC. Her lilting voice will uplift you with songs from the mountains.
