Colton Robbins — North Greene

Colton is dedicated to his sport as well as his educationand is currently ranked second in his class. He is active in hiscommunity and is involved with Future Farmers of America, Experimental Aircraft Association, Boy Scouts of America and several others. He played in the First Team All-District Baseball Tournament and was selected Defensive Football player of The Year twice. Congratulations Colton!

The Greeneville Sun Football Student-Athlete Of The Year

Zander Thompson — South Greene

Zander was selected as an All-County Football Player, First Team All-Conference Player and Player of The Week.

He participated in The Greene County Youth Leadership Program. Zander received Honors and was in dual enrollment.

He volunteered with Susan Buss for Save The Children at Mosheim Elementary School laying fence and fence posts as well as digging footers for concrete.

Ethan Grindstaff — Chuckey-Doak

Ethan is a leader on and off the court. While participating in multiple sports and winning awards his basketball recognition began in the seventh grade when he was named AAA MVP and seventh grade Boys’ Basketball Tournament MVP. He played AAU basketball last year with The Wolfpack and was active off the court in concessions as well as with Parent – Teacher Organization function.

Hayley Susong – South Greene

Hayley was captain of the SGHS girls’ team this year. She is a ready graduate and currently ranked eighth in her class.

In addition, she received the distinction of an A Honor Roll all four years of high school and is currently enrolled in South Greene High School’s CAN program.

She has completed six dual enrollment classes at Walters Sate Community college all while being named to the All-Tournament and All Conference teams.

The Greeneville Sun Girls Wrestling Student-Athlete Of The Year

Jenna Baines — Greeneville

Jenna earned the title of State Champion in 2021, finished second in 2022 and placed third in 2023.she has twice been a member of the Tennessee USA Wrestling Girls National Team as well as Southeast Regional Champion.

Jenna is tough and perseveres through tough times. She lost a match at this year’s state tournament, but rather than giving up she fought back and earned a thirdplace finish.

In addition to her wrestling career, she volunteers backstage at GHS chorus events.

C.J. Parham — West Greene

C.J. is an Eagle Scout, a two-time member of the All Greene County Cross Country team as well as the 2022 Cross Country team MVP. Since 2018 he has been an associate at Food City. C.J.is a member of The National Honor Society, a member of The Greene County Youth Council and Youth Leadership.

Darla Kammerdiener — Greeneville

Darla’s awards are numerous including Best Newcomer, All County and All Conference Cross Country Teams, Cross Country MVP and contested in the 2021 State meet. She is active at First Baptist Church, Arrowhead Church as well as The Powerful Runners Ministry.

London Morelock — Greeneville

In addition to being nominated to Cheerleading London is also a member of the tennis team. She has been selected as a Citizento the highly regarded American Legion Volunteer Girls State Program.

While being recognized by Belmont University she was named a Duke Tip Scholar by Duke University.

Marlee Gross — Greeneville

Marlee is a talented young lady that has been involved in Honors Chorus, Honors Choir, Gospel Choir Alto Section Leader and the Dance Team.

She served on the Youth Council as Internal Communications member and was a major contributor to the school production, Edgar, A Ghost Story. She has been an active volunteer in many community events and is currently employed as a dance instructor at Absolute Arts.

Aidan Collier — North Greene

Aidan has qualified for the State Tournament four times with three top five finishes. He claimed the District Championship four times as well as the Regional Championship three times and 1 runner up.

Aidan is ranked #1 in the state and 170 th nationwide for all grade levels. His volunteer activities include raising funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Brandt Snedecker Foundation.

Aidan is active at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church as wells as Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Younglife.

Lindy competes in several sports winning multiple awards.

Andrew has been selected as team captain for two years by his teammates. He has competed in the TSSAA All State, TN SportsWriters Association

All State, was named an MVP, TSSAA Offensive Player of The Year, Grassroots Media Offensive Player of The Year as well, as an All-5 Star Preps First Team.

Andrew has participated in Greene County Youth Leadership, Greene County Youth Council accumulating more than 200 hours of community service. He is a Senior leader with Younglife and an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Anne Marie Konieczny — Greeneville

Anne Marie has played on two State Championship teams as well as the East-West All Star game. She is an MVP, All Conference, All Region, All District player, and Offensive Player of The Year.

Anne Marie is a member of the Greene County Youth Leadership, Greene County Youth Council and Greeneville High School Student Council. She has volunteered with Keep Greene Beautiful, Main Street Greeneville, Monty’s Merry Christmas Drive and the Greeneville/ Greene County Animal Shelter.

Cambell Gaby — North Greene

Cambell has won numerous awards including All Tournament, All Conference and All Region honors and was nominated as Softball Player of The Year by Grassroots Media.

She is an active member of the Future Farmers of America earning the Outstanding Agri-Science Award while achieving the highest Future Farmers of America highest scholastic average in 10th and 11th grades.

Cambell earned her State Future Farmers of America degree in 2023. She is an active member in her church, Mountain Valley Covenant Brethren volunteering for Samaritan’s Purse, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the National Honor Society.

Morgan Mysinger — South Greene

Morgan has earned numerous awards during her playing career including Large Division District Doubles Champion, All District, Lady Devil Award and South Greene High School MVP.

Morgan is a member of the National Honor Society and has maintained an A or A/B honor roll listing for four consecutive years.

She has volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse, served as President of Best Buddies at South Greene organizing events for students with complex needs as well as a special needs peer tutor.

Hunter Burkey — South Greene

Hunter won the TSSAA All State Track High Jump in 2022and was 2023 Tennessee Indoor State Champion in the High Jump.

He holds school records at South Greene High School in the 4X1 Triple Jump, High Jump, 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles.

He has volunteered as mascot for Save The Children Reading event, spoke at the eighth grade summit, coached middle school athletes and is involved with Future Farmers of America.

Macy competed in 2022 at the All-State High Jump. She is a 3-time qualifier in The Times News Relay, No. 2 all time best at West Greene High School High Jump and 2022 Track and Field MVP.

Macy is active with many school and community organizations including FCCLA member, Fellowship of Christiaan Athletes, Fellowship of Christian Women, Midway Youth Ministry, the Hinkle Trio and Isaiah House.

Heidi loves to volunteer and has accumulated more than 500 volunteer hours with the Special Needs CDC classroom at Chuckey–Doak.

Grant Litchfield — Greeneville

Grant works hard on the lanes as well as off.

He is active in his community being a Boy Scout Senior Patrol leader, Sunday School teacher, GHS Robotics team member and GHS Band. He serves as Youth Representative on the Notre Dame Catholic Church Parish Council. Grant earned a berth on the 2022 and2023 All Conference Bowling teams.

While managing several sports including golf as well as bowling.

Bethany earned the Most Valuable Bowler Award in 2023 and All Conference Bowling team in 2022 and 2023.

She is a member of the Greeneville Youth Commission, GHS Student Council, UT Virtual Science Club and GHS Chorus.

Chloe Marsh — Greeneville

Chloe has been a member of Greene County Youth Leadership, participated on the Youth Council for Community Service, a Lady Devil Basketball Camp instructor and served Team Community Service with basketball and volleyball.

Chloe’s sophomore year she was recognized as Outstanding GHS JV player, as First Team District Server of The Year and District JV and Varsity MVP.

In her junior year she earned the title of GHS defensive player of the year as well as GHS MVP and selected as District regular season Player of The Year and All State player.

In her final season at GHS she has been recognized as Conference and District Player of The Year, a District All-Tournament and All State player.

Gavin Wilhoit — West Greene

Gavin is Co-valedictorian of his class, high school representative to the county school board, recipient of the Presidential Scholarship and placed 3 rd in the state FBLA Computer Game and Simulation Programming competition. He accumulated more than 300 hours of community service volunteering at Isaiah House, Hope Center and Crossroads Church just to mention of the many he has been active in.

Due to COVID Gavin’s tennis career was cut short as they did not field a team his Freshman and Sophomore years.

In spite of the challenges, he worked hard to earn the recognition as one of his team’s top seeded players. He has excelled in honors and AP classes while balancing his responsibilities to his family and friends.

Heidi is a four-year varsity player and team captain her junior and senior years.

She has earned all-district, all tournament and MVP honors in volleyball as well as tennis.

The Greeneville Sun Academic Achievement Winner

Lana Click — Greeneville

Lana set a school record in the co-ed 4x100 relay and was selected for the Captain’s Award in Volleyball as well as Outstanding JV Volleyball player and received the Student-Athlete Award.

She taught Vacation Bible School and acted in Judgement House at First Baptist Church. An active volunteer, Lana assisted with GHS Kid’s volleyball camp and served at the FCA banquet.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and participated in a mission trip to assist and serve a church in Talladega, Ala.

Taliah Johnson — Chuckey-Doak

Taliah is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. She earned a berth in the State Track and Field tournament two years in a row.

She has been an A/B honor roll scholar attaining perfect attendance and will graduate with honors.

In spite of the loss of her eyesight in one eye she continues to play and challenge herself as well as being chosen as team of the girls basketball team.

Taliah is a leader in her church’s youth program, provided childcare at the FCC Appreciation Night event and for three years served as a Kid’s camp counselor.

James Buchanan — North Greene

This award honors the coach of the year that has exceeded the expectations of coaching.

The 2023 Best of Preps Coach of the Year Award goes to Coach James Buchanan of North Greene High School.

Coach Buchanan was unable to attend the ceremony due to a previous commitment.

Sonya Wagner a student at North Greene High School and a member of the North Greene High School Girls Basketball team accepted the award for coach Buchanan.
