This paper described the application of a novel slow release fertilizer and its effects on banana growth and production. The paper studied banana foliar nutrients, photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll content, and yield performance. The results indicated that foliar content of macro-elements nitrogen, phosphate, potassium in Greenfeed® group were 12.5%, 10% and 34.8%, respectively, higher than the conventional compound fertilizers. Photosynthesis rate was found 10.5-32% higher and chlorophyll content was measured 9.5-10% higher than compound fertilizer treatment. Most importantly, the yield on weight of banana was concluded to be 14-20% higher than conventional treatment. Quality analysis on the harvested banana did not displayed much difference on the performance on total soluble solid, total sugar, and noticeably, soluble protein and edible percentage were found higher in Greenfeed® treatment group. This novel slow release fertilizer is labor-saving and cost saving, its performances on banana quality also found better than conventional fertilizer. This novel fertilizer is powered by zeolite, a component with beneficial effects on soil improvement, bringing up the cations exchange capacity (CEC) and utility rate of fertilizers. Abstract Paddy rice is one of the three most important staple food in the world, as a biggest producer and consumer of paddy, China should further increase the efficacy of paddy field management. In this study, a novel silica-containing fertilizer were used to study the yield and quality of paddy in Malaysia and Taiwan. Compared to conventional chemical fertilizers, the recommendation usage of this fertilizer is greatly reduced from 810kg conventional to 150kg, the yield was found increased from 6,100kg/ha to 8000kg/ha, with 33% increment. In the trial in Taiwan, the yields from two site in Pingtung areas also reported to be 16.7% and 15.7% increment. Performance on thousand-grain weight, water content, ash and total starch, thousand-grain weight increased 5.2-7.8%, total starch content has 6.5% higher than conventional fertilizer group. The rest parameters did not showed significant difference. This further explained that qualities of grains did not affected by the reduction of fertilizer. This novel silica-containing fertilizer were especially suitable for tropical and sub-tropical areas and very promising to be further promoted in China.
