A city trip to Tórshavn offers shopping, great food and a mass of experiences. Tórshavn has a homely atmosphere and is very easy to get around. You are always within walking distance to most of the attractions and cafés, where you can relax as you meet the locals after your exciting day’s activities. Already on arrival, you will find yourself in the middle of fantastic scenery. The beautiful islands are full of life and welcome you anytime of the year.

FRIDAY: Arrival with Atlantic Airways. After check in go for a walk around Tórshavn. As you wander through the old town, you will see tiny black-tarred houses with grass roofs. This old town is unique, not only in the Faroe Islands, but in the whole world. End the day with a visit to one of the cafés or bars and chat to the locals.

SATURDAY: Go exploring after a good breakfast. Down on the marina is an interesting shop called Østrøm where you can see and buy modern Faroese art and handiwork. If your interest is in Faroese music, then go to Tutl. Make sure you have a look in Staðið, Soulmade, Silvursnið, Ullvøruhúsið, Marjun Heimá and Guðrun&Guðrun who sell knitwear in the latest Faroese fashion. You will also come across the cosy old bookshop that is definitely worth a look inside. By now, you are probably feeling hungry, if so, we can recommend lunch in Kaffihúsið down on the pleasure boat harbour. Enough shopping, ready for some more culture? Then we suggest a trip up to the Nordic House or the Art Museum. Here you will be able to see how extensively the Faroese nature and landscape has influenced the Faroese artists through the years.

SUNDAY: At an agreed time, you will be picked up from your accommodation to enjoy a private sightseeing trip with a local driver/guide. This is a chance to experience the season’s light and colours. The route will be determined by the weather, but look forward to some amazing views and photo stops. Your driver will chat and entertain you with stories as he tells you about the Faroe Islands. For dinner, we suggest Restaurant Áarstova, a true gem. It is a charming place with bare beams, small door openings and crooked angles, situated in a protected building in the old town. Definitely the place to go if you want a cosy atmosphere and good food.

Incl. sightseeing with driver/guide

MONDAY: Check out of hotel. If you have time, we suggest a trip to the supermarket Miklagarður in Tórshavn’s shopping centre SMS. You will find a wide selection of Faroese specialities, including vacuum-packed salmon, salt fish etc. Faroese beer can be purchased in the Tax Free shop at the airport. Depart with Atlantic Airways.
