summer inspiration guide

grasshopper summer Since we started Elsie Green ten years ago, we have worked hard like ants in the spring, fall and winter, then played like grasshoppers all summer long. We have extended our shopping trips to month long European adventures, taken long weekend road trips, and read book after book in our backyard hammocks. Our grasshopper summers serve to re-fill our well of inspiration and give us some much needed rest to prepare for another busy fall. a road trip is about the scenery, yes. but it’s also about the music, the snacks, the right low maintenance ensemble to make the journey just as much fun as the destination. Visit the blog to read more >

since we’ve been holed up in our houses, we’ve fallen back in love with a great american pastime: the road trip. Whether we’re planning one, dreaming of one, or driving one, a road trip is always an adventure in courage and flexibility. and a good road trip always yields a few surprises if you’re open to them. when we go

picque-nique

If you celebrate Christmas, then the ritual of acquiring the tree is most likely the centerpiece of your holiday tradition. Choosing the lot, choosing the tree and arranging a special day and time to decorate it are all activities that evoke memories of seasons past and excitement for the current year’s adventure.

For the shop, we prefer

a tall Charlie Brown tree buried in lights and wrapped in a vintage linen

sheet at the base.

Et c’est finis..

2020 was a challenge, but occasionally we found a silver lining among the clouds. The family picnic is one of those silver linings. Instead of cocktail hour in a bar, we’re gathering in parks and backyards, relaxed in our shorts, enjoying the company of our family and friends coming and going at their leisure. It really is the perfect dinner out. Visit the blog to read more >

summer nights

summer is a busy time for travel (or dreaming of it), entertaining (or dreaming of it), long walks in the evening, long reading lists and long naps in the afternoon. In the summer our beds are transformed from cosy nests of goose down and heated blankets into cool havens of freshly washed linen. We prefer a palette of woven stripes, handmade block prints, and light, pretty linens for summer. Visit the blog to read more >
