As a leader in educational video distribution for more than 15 years, we offer award winning video content from some of the best producers around the world. HERE’S A SAMPLE . . . “The Lakehead Board of Education has been involved with Distribution Access for over 10 years during which time we have purchased over a thousand VHS, DVD and last year digital rights from them. Distribution Access, in my opinion, has one of the best selections of Canadian content available, with many of their titles consistently on our top requested titles and frequently on our overbooked reports. Their very popular Disney series, Bill Nye The Science Guy is the most popular series in our collection of 11,000 titles and many of their higher level, curriculum specific titles, are spot on and difficult to find anywhere else. Distribution Access has helped us give our teachers and students access to the best streaming experience and content we possibly can.” ~ TErrI PArkEr-CELMEr Supervisor of Library Services Instructional Materials Centre, Lakehead District School Board, Thunder Bay, Ontario

access learning What are people saying about Access Learning? Since we launched Access Learning in 2009, the response has been overwhelming. Access Learning is now used by more than 1.8 million students across Canada and growing. Individual school pricing and special school board pricing is available. Contact us today to include Access Learning as a valuable learning resource for your students.

HERE’S A SAMPLE . . . “What teachers appreciate about Access Learning is that it is a Canadian based company which offers a large video library with quality content. Being able to stream or download the videos and also having access to additional print related resources makes the content very classroom friendly. As an ET leader for the district, I can appreciate how Access Learning is all about the video resources that they make available to the teachers. Access Learning doesn't push the extra add-ons as they realize teachers don't really have the time to put into this. Access Learning is very intuitive and I would highly recommend it!” ~ rOCky WILSOn IT Integration Specialist, Palliser regional Schools, Alberta

“We subscribe to a number of digital media services for our student teachers, based on the types of services the schools also have. We are very excited to have added Access Learning to our list. It provides much needed access to titles related to the Alberta curriculum, and strong Canadian content. The pricing for this product is very competitive, and gives us excellent value for our money. I would strongly recommend this product as a ‘first purchase’ for any school or school jurisdiction in Canada.”

access stem real-World Concepts. Project-Based Learning. Learn More

Real-World Videos

Teachers are asked to have lessons that are engaging and relevant, cross-curricular, focus on 21st century skills, differentiate learning, incorporate non-fiction reading and writing and provide an authentic assessment of their students' understanding. We see this as the core fundamental of what STEM education is all about and Access STEM achieves this type of learning.

Access STEM’s unique real-world videos are specifically designed to promote the relevant connections between college and careers to educational concepts. We highlight various different jobs from many different industries depicting how workers are using math, language arts, science and technology in their job. By interviewing a diverse group with varying types of educational backgrounds which allows students to see a road map to a specific job and the skills sets that are needed to achieve their goal.

How do we do this? Access STEM combines a number of different content types that accentuate the educational strategies of STEM education. RealWorld Videos set the stage for each lesson by showing the practical application of educational concepts within a company/industry. Performance Tasks built around the specific job/industry ask the students to apply the knowledge learned in real world unpredictable situations. Literacy Tasks ask students to read, synthesize and write informative and/or position papers around the real world career based topic.

Performance Tasks Access STEM’s Performance Tasks are built from the “Understanding By Design” framework and presents a real-world problem within the context of a career/industry. The career based videos frame the task, which allows the students to see the task through the career lens. Each Task contains The Big Idea, Essential Questions and learning outcomes which outlines what will align with the learning in the Task.

Literacy Tasks Access STEM's literacy tasks are designed for students in grades 3-12. The tasks are developed to promote high-quality student assignments that develop reading, writing, and thinking skills in the context of learning science, history, English, social studies, and other subjects. Informational and argumentative tasks are provided aligned with a career based video and a performance task.
