Along with all the benefits outlined above, Big Ticket is only $55 for one full year and Big Ticket Plus is only $110 for one full year. Add to the fact that every ticket your family buys throughout that year is discounted either $7 or $11 (exceptions apply) and in no time you have paid for your family membership. We added extra value by including tax receipts, gift certificates, discounts at other merchants and other special ticket offers.
Patrons using a wheelchair, walker or who have difficulty with stairs should advise the box office at the time of ticket purchase. Due to fire regulations and for the safety of patrons, wheelchair and walker seating is located in Row S. Note that the lower level parking lot is not suitable for these patrons as there is no access to the main entrance of the theatre. The theatre does not have an elevator. Sennheiser Hearing Assistance is available in both spaces. This service is on a first come first served basis and may be signed out at the bar. Glen Woodcock & The Big Band Show Saturday, January 4th at 3:00 pm Glen Woodcock's program, The Big Band Show, Sundays from 5:00 to 10:00 pm, has been a Toronto radio fixture since it began on JAZZ.FM91 over three decades ago. He took over The Big Band Show in September, 1976, and the show has been on the air with the same host longer than any other current program on Toronto radio. With Glen, you get both the larger-than-life big band sound and the history of an
incredible era in music In his other life he is an automotive writer for the Sun group of newspapers and Autonet.ca. Glen has just begun restoration of a 1971 Manic GT, a rare Canadian-made sports car from Granby, Quebec. It will join an award-winning 1947 Frazer Manhattan in Glen’s garage in the Northumberland Hills east of Toronto, where he lives with wife Connie and daughter Kate.

A Dan Cooper Presentation • Thursday, January 23rd at 8:00pm Heart, and many others, forever infusing the radio airwaves with Tower’s musical DNA. Since the beginning, Tower of Power has never stopped touring and recording. Always in demand, the band never fails to entertain and amaze their fans. Tower is truly blessed to have a dedicated following that often travels to see the band, and in many cases fans will plan their vacation or work schedule around an appearance of Tower of Power. Throughout the past 45 years, Tower of Power has played to all kinds of audiences and have recorded with such artists as Elton John, Santana, Little Feat, Aerosmith, Heart and an array of blues players. Each year TOP tours the United States, Japan and Europe, playing to sold out crowds all over the world. Recent releases include “Great American Soulbook”, a collection of classic soul tunes, and the 40th Anniversary Concert DVD. Tower has never been busier or more in demand. New generations of fans come to see the band perform as their timeless music continues to excite fans of all ages.
Tower's musical odyssey actually began in 1968 when Emilio Castillo met Stephen "Doc" Kupka in July of that year. When Doc auditioned during a band rehearsal at Emilio's house, Emilio's father called him into the kitchen and offered the following advice: "Hire that guy, he's got something." Doc and his signature baritone sax sound were now in the band, and on August 13, 1968, Tower of Power, as we know them today, began playing gigs, and soon became very well known in the area. After playing at a Tuesday night audition at the Fillmore in 1970, Tower was signed to Bill Graham’s San Francisco records and their first album, “East Bay Grease,” was recorded. All of the compositions were original tunes written by Castillo and Kupka. Their next album, “Bump City,” was recorded on the Warner Brothers label, and this led to a string of hits and memorable albums that include many of the songs that TOP fans come out in force to hear, even to this day. Over the years, the Tower of Power Horns have recorded with hundreds of artists as diverse as Aerosmith, Elton John, Little Feat, Phish, Santana,

CHRIS GIBBS “LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON? SORRY.” Saturday, February 15th at 8:00pm • In The Studio Theatre In 2005 Chris premiered Antoine Feval, bringing his quick wit, stand-up and improv skills, as well as a charming irreverence for the ‘rules’ of theatre to a one-man play about a kindhearted man who believes he’s the sidekick to a famous Victorian detective. The show won “Best of the Fest” at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and was held over at the Edmonton Fringe. The following year the show had a sell-out run at the Toronto Fringe. In 2009 The show won the Best Comedy award at the Montreal Fringe and was invited to take part in the Just For Laughs Festival. The show’s sequel, The Further Adventures of Antoine Feval, premiered at the 2008 Toronto Fringe. Also in 2009 Chris brought out Like Father, Like Son? Sorry. – a stand-up show about the terrors of being a new father. The show won Patron’s Pick in the Toronto Fringe, was a sell-out hit at the Winnipeg Fringe and went on to be invited to Toronto’s Next Stage Festival. Chris has played with improv groups all over the world, and can now be regularly seen at The Carnegie Hall Show, as well as appearing as a guest in many of Toronto’s regular improv nights. He’s also shared the stage with other performers in The Macbeth Show, the Canadian Comedy Award-winning Plan “Live” From Outer Space, and The Rumoli Bros’ An Inconvenient Musical. Chris has even found time to branch out into other media, with regular appearances on NBC’s comedy show Howie Do It. He had the lead role in the Canadian Indie feature Run Robot Run, and has written for CBC’s Definitely Not The Opera.
British-born Chris Gibbs has been a professional comedian since 1991, when he began performing comedy shows on the street in London’s Covent Garden. For the next 11 years he toured fulltime, performing at comedy, theatre and streettheatre festivals throughout Europe, as well as New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Chris was also using his quick wit, sense of the absurd and ability to think on his feet to become a regular in London’s comedy scene as a stand-up and improviser. He appeared in two comedy series on British TV, Net.Comedy and the improvbased Consequently. Chris moved to Canada permanently in 2002, and he immediately toured with his first oneman stand-up show, Gibberish. Audiences and critics loved his charming, self-deprecating and occasionally very physical style and the show was a huge success, playing to sell-out crowds at the Fringe Festivals in Edmonton and Winnipeg, where it won Best of the Fest. It won even more rave reviews when remounted at the Toronto Fringe in 2007. Chris has since developed two more stand-up shows at the Winnipeg Fringe, performing to sellout houses with Chris Gibbs From The Neck Up in 2004 and Who The Devil Are You? in 2007. In 2003 he toured the hit show The Power of Ignorance, a mock motivational seminar cowritten with TJ Dawe. The script and The Power of Ignorance: 14 Steps To Using Your Ignorance, a spoof self-help book, were both published in 2006.

Pink Floyd • CLASSIC ALBUMS LIVE • Friday, February 21st at 8:00pm The best-selling record that Pink Floyd ever made, The Wall is often regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all time and, for many people, is the centrepiece of the Floyd collection. It’s an impressive list of songs like “Another Brick in the Wall”, “Mother”, “Hey You” and “Comfortably Numb” that certifies Pink Floyd as the quintessential prog rock band. The Wall is primarily a triumph of production: its seamless surface, sound effects and blending of melodic fragments into stadium sized anthems separates this album from most. The ambitious concept record has achieved legendary status for its imagination and richness. The Wall is a concept album and deals largely with themes of abandonment and personal isolation. It was first conceived during their 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when bassist and lyricist Roger Waters’ frustration with the spectators’ perceived boorishness became so acute that he imagined building a wall between the performers and audience. Rolling Stone magazine placed The Wall at number 87 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Founded by Craig Martin in 2003, Toronto-based Classic Albums Live recreates famous rock albums without the gimmickry, relying solely on the music. It has become the ultimate destination for music lovers wanting to hear the greatest albums performed live.

For being all instrumental, Pavlo’s Mediterranean music speaks for itself. When Pavlo was 10, he spent hours hidden away practicing his guitar. Pavlo’s parents soon realized his skill was undeniable. Instead of discouraging him, Pavlo’s father told him, “Have the courage to do what you love, and the drive to do it well.” After years of guitar lessons, from classical to flamenco, Pavlo spent his early years playing in rock groups and wedding bands. Soon, Pavlo discovered his own distinct sound that he termed, “Mediterranean”. It was the first time he felt as though his guitar was speaking from his soul. Pavlo was inspired to write his first self-titled album. Although there were many people that told him it was a “fantasy” to think he would find success, he followed his heart and sent the album to music executives all over the country. When they responded with “It is too ethnic” and denied Pavlo a record deal because “there was no market for this type of music,” Pavlo became driven to create his own record label and market himself.

Soon, through craft shows, café gigs and festival performances all over the country playing his Mediterranean music, Pavlo did, in fact, find his audience. They were equally as passionate about his music and they wanted more of it. Investing all that he had at that time, Pavlo released his second album, Fantasia. Fantasia climbed the charts and made it to the Billboard Top 10 and earned Pavlo his first Juno nomination. Pavlo started to tour across the country, and when critics said this trend would die out, Pavlo received a call to perform for His Royal Highness, Prince Charles. Pavlo went on to release several albums and performed in soft seat theatres across Canada. When he was told that he was not ready to perform in Canada’s most prestigious theatre, the legendary Massey Hall, Pavlo booked the 2700-seat theatre anyway. Pavlo sold it out…twice! Canadian Folk legend Gordon Lightfoot was in the audience. Pavlo was told that the US would not be as accepting of his Mediterranean music. In 2008, Pavlo completed an 80
city tour across the US over the course of three months. Pavlo ventured into television after receiving a call from 15-time Emmy award-winning director George Veras (famous for Yanni’s Live at the Acropolis). George loved Pavlo’s Mediterranean style, and he directed Pavlo: Mediterranean Nights, a one-hour, made for TV concert special. After originally airing on PBS, it was also picked up by Bravo and CBC Bold. It is still being aired nationally today. Wanting to create a Canadian guitar trio, Pavlo called on legendary guitarists Oscar Lopez, and Hall of Famer, Rik Emmett (of the band, Triumph). The trio released their album, Trifecta and executed a national sold out tour. They made headlines and the album earned Pavlo a second Juno nomination. Pavlo has come full circle with the release of his 9th album, Six String Blvd. as it is once again, an allinstrumental offering. Six String Blvd. celebrates Pavlo’s ongoing ability to pave his own way, and he feels it is some of the best music he has ever written.

IME
Presented by Dan Cooper of Royal LePage Saturday, March 8th at 7:00pm In November 2003, I Mother Earth performed their last show; a nearly four hour performance that saw the band play in the round at a sold out venue and off they went. There was no big announcement, no final tour or “Best of “CD just a simple note on the IME nation website that said “thanks to the fans”. In the summer of 2011 three members found themselves geographically tied together in Peterborough, the Tanna brothers’ old stompin’ grounds. So after an eight year hiatus, Jag Tanna and Christian Tanna hooked up with vocalist Brian Byrne, and it was inevitable that the discussion turned to music. The jamming started once a week, then twice a week and eventually Jag came in with new ideas that were undeniably IME. They decided a “Whaduyathink?” phone call was in order to bassist Bruce Gordon (now a member of the Blue Man Group Production in Orlando, Florida) to get his take on actually tracking some new IME. With Bruce in and some new material taking shape the band accepted an offer to perform at Sound Academy as a part of a 102.1 the Edge event at Canadian Music Week. The show sold out quickly and a second Sound Academy show was added. The two shows were off the hook and the 5000+ fans agreed, clearly this couldn’t be a one off...or two off. The band had released a new tune We Got the Love as a listen only Sound Cloud file on their website, and received over 10,000 listens in the first 72 hours, not bad considering there was nothing traditional about this release. The band then began confirming more shows from Newfoundland to BC and most stops in between to get out and thank IME Nation personally for their support and devotion. One of those stops saw them take over the Oakville Centre on February 22, 2013 with a performance that was unforgettable for those in attendance. While the future is unwritten, it has some direction that will develop new ideas to enhance the concept of I Mother Earth. All of this is an open book, their decisions, process, and updates are all being played out for the fans to see and interact via their Open Mouth Blog at imotherearth.ca. The concept of I Mother Earth has never been more exciting, and the process has never been more personal.

JON BATISTE & THE STAY HUMAN BAND Friday, April 4th at 8:00pm “I’m always about trying to fill a need with what I do in my artistry,” says Jon Batiste. “There is definitely a need in the performing arts world for a movement to come along that seriously connects with a next generation audience while still maintaining the timeless artistic objectives present throughout the history of the American music tradition.” It’s a goal Batiste is steadily achieving with every performance, every song, every album. Now 26, Batiste has defined a vision based on the most profound aspects of what has already been a rich artistic journey. He was born in New Orleans into a family whose deep musical heritage is part of the inspiration for the HBO series Treme, in which Batiste has appeared. Over the last decade he has forged his own artistic path by indelibly fusing himself within the fabric of New York City culture. After attending the prestigious New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) Batiste moved to New York and graduated from the Juilliard School earning a Master’s Degree in jazz and classical piano. He has collaborated with the likes of Prince, Lauryn Hill, Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Buffet, Eve, Lenny Kravitz, ?uestlove, and Asher Roth and has recorded extensively with Stay Human. On the rough-and-tumble streets of New Orleans and New York, Batiste absorbed a musical language that disregards genre distinctions as long as all the musicians are locked in and feeling the inspiration of the moment. At Julliard, he was solidly grounded in the importance of standards and tradition, the conviction that the best of what has come before us must be kept living and taught to future generations. To further that lofty aim, Batiste often lectures and gives master classes and also serves as Artistic Director At Large of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Using Twitter and Facebook to announce their plans, Batiste and Stay Human would ride the New York subways with their instruments playing music from many different music traditions and playing at the top of their talent all the while. It was a way to have some fun and to startle people out of their preconceived notions – about jazz, about where it’s appropriate to listen to music, about what it might mean to hear top-notch players blasting away purely for the purpose of entertaining and connecting with you as you go about your day. Once people receive and accept that positive energy – and cracking the stoicism of New York subway riders is no mean feat – there’s no telling what further transformations it might effect in their lives and in all of our lives. Batiste believes that live performance is where his vision can most truly be set in motion and realized. “For me, what we’re doing is a calling, bringing people to an understanding that treating others how you would want to be treated is how we are called to be,” he says. “I want to inspire people with the live show. I can give you a picture. When you go to a show to hear us, the venue is one way when you get there, but when you leave it’s totally transformed. It’s become a communal experience. People leave crying and laughing – there’s a buzz. People stand around when it’s done because they just don’t want to go home. At the least, we aim to take the audience on an uplifting musical journey. Hopefully we show them something beautiful and profound through the music that will enrich their lives.”

Saturday, April 19th at 8:00pm Jon Anderson is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable voices in progressive rock as the lead vocalist and creative force behind YES. Jon was born John Roy Anderson in Accrington, Lancashire, England, on October 25, 1944. Anderson dropped the ‘h’ from his first name in 1970. In 1962, Anderson joined The Warriors, where he and his brother Tony shared the role of lead vocalist. He quit this band in 1967, released two solo singles in 1968 under the pseudonym Hans Christian Anderson, and then briefly sang for the band The Gun. In March 1968, Anderson met bassist Chris Squire and joined him in a group called Mabel Greer’s Toyshop, which included guitarist Peter Banks. Anderson, Squire, and Banks went on to form YES, with drummer Bill Bruford and keyboardist Tony Kaye. Jon stayed with the group until 1980, and this period is now known as the classic period of YES. Jon was a major creative force and band leader throughout the period (describing himself as the ‘team captain’ and ‘catalyst’; nicknamed by his band mates Napoleon for his diminutive stature and leadership of the band) and is recognized as the main instigator of the series of epics produced by YES at the time. He was the author and a major creative influence behind the series of epics produced by YES and his role in creating such complex pieces as Close to the Edge, Awaken, and especially The Gates of Delirium was central to the band’s success. Additionally, Anderson coauthored the group’s biggest hits, including I’ve Seen All Good People, Roundabout, and Owner of a Lonely Heart. Jon is also responsible for most of the mystically-themed lyrics and concepts which are part of many YES releases. These elements are crucial components of the classic YES sound. The lyrics are frequently inspired by various books Anderson has enjoyed, from Tolstoy’s War and Peace to Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha. Jon rejoined a reformed YES in 1983, which produced their most commercially successful album 90125 with newcomer Trevor Rabin. After a second album Big Generator and several world tours, Jon departed again in 1988 over the band’s continued pursuit of major commercial success and mainstream radio play. In 1989, Anderson and other former YES members formed the group Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe (ABWH), augmented by bassist Tony Levin who had played with drummer Bill Bruford in King Crimson. After the successful first ABWH album, a series of business deals caused ABWH to reunite with the then-current members of YES (Squire, Rabin, White, Kaye), who had been out of the public eye while searching for a new lead singer. Anderson would remain with the band until 2004. In his post-YES days, Anderson has been busy embarking on a series of successful solo tours throughout North America and Europe.

Presented by OAKVILLE INFINITI Traces is poetic and explosive, humorous and thoughtful. Combining traditional acrobatic forms with street elements such as skateboarding and basketball, mixed in with some theatre and contemporary dance, it surprises, awes and delights at every turn. Traces takes place in a make-shift shelter, an unknown catastrophe waiting outside the doors of tarp and gaffer tape. The seven characters constructed this clubhouse to live to the fullest what they believe could be their last moments, hoping to leave nothing unsaid or undone. In the face of this impending disaster they have determined that creation is the only antidote to destruction, and their brand of creation is the fleeting impulses and desires that extend through their bodies and unfurl onto stage – the story is told through music, song, dance, speech, illustration, and high-risk acrobatics. The characters use every mode of expression available to them, hoping to leave a lasting mark...to leave their traces as best they can. As they tell the stories of their past and share their various personal strengths and weaknesses, the audience gets to know these seven performers from every possible angle. The familiarity grows, and the acrobatics – a seemingly “inhuman” element – takes on a startlingly human nature. At its heart, Traces celebrates seven individuals, their particular bond and their particular talents; their risk-taking; the ultimate affirmation of life; and their unbridled energy, proof of a collective pounding pulse. Founded in Montreal in 2002, the 7 Fingers’ initial goal was to bring circus to a human scale. They began as artists on stage, creating collectively, and soon branched out, expanding their creative talents as directors, choreographers, writers and coaches, passing on their collaborative and unique 7 Fingers process to a new generation of circus artists. As a result, they have been able to grow to international prominence, participating in ceremonies for both the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics and appearing on the hit reality show, America’s Got Talent.

With more than thirty years of experience and an alumnus of Saturday Night Live and Chicago’s famed Second City, Jim Belushi is now bringing to the stage an improvised comedy sketch show featuring members of the Chicago Board of Comedy. Belushi starred on the ABC hit comedy According to Jim, on which he also served as executive producer, music composer and director. After wrapping 182 episodes for its eighth and final season, the family favorite series also hit a milestone when it launched into off-net syndication in 2007. Accompanying Belushi are Robert Belushi, Larry Joe Campbell, Jon Barinholtz, and Brad Morris, all of whom are classically trained professional improvisers who tour regularly nationwide. JIM BELUSHI was born June 15, 1954 in Chicago but grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. He is the third of four children of Adam Belushi, an Albanian immigrant who left his native Qytezë village in 1934 at the age of 15, and Agnes, who was born in the U.S. of Albanian immigrants. He attended the College of Dupage and graduated from Southern Illinois Univer-
sity with a degree in Speech and Theater Arts. From 1976-80 he became a resident member of Chicago’s famed Second City. In 1979, write-producer Garry Marshall saw Jim performing for Second City and arranged for him to come to Hollywood and co-star in the TV Pilot Who’s Watching the Kids for Paramount, and then for a role in the television show Working Stiffs (co-starring Michael Keaton). Later, in 1983, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for two years. Jim came to national attention through his role in Edward Zwick’s film About Last Night with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore, playing the role he originated in the Chicago Apollo Theatre’s production of David Mamet’s Obie-award winning play Sexual Perversity in Chicago. He has come a long way from Second City, SNL, and his early role in the TV series Working Stiffs. His feature credits since then show an extraordinary range: He was James Woods’ spacey DJ buddy, Dr. Rock, in Oliver Stone’s Salvador; the mentally handicapped dishwasher befriended by Whoopi Goldberg in the Andrei Konchalovsky film, Homer and

Eddie; and the defiant high school principal standing up to drug dealers in The Principal. In 2000 Belushi co-starred in MGM’s Return to Me, directed by Bonnie Hunt and starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver, and he received rave reviews for his work with Gregory Hines in Showtime’s Who Killed Atlanta’s Children? As his popularity grew over the years, so did his roles in film, theatre, and television. Belushi has performed on Broadway in Herb Gardner’s acclaimed Conversations with My Father at the Royal Theatre, offBroadway in True West, at the Cherry Lane Theatre in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of John Guare’s Moon Over Miami, and for Joseph Papp as the Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance. He was mostly recently on Broadway (2011) in Garson Kanin’s Born Yesterday at the Cort Theater. In addition he does numerous voiceovers for film, television and for commercials. ROBERT BELUSHI Robert Belushi split his formative years between Chicago and Los Angeles, returning to Chicago to work in theater after graduating from Wesleyan University. After performing at Chicago’s Steppenwolf and Second City, Rob returned to Los Angeles. Most recently you may have seen him as a cast member on The Joe Schmo Show on Spike or as Keith, the town cop on the upcoming Fox comedy, The Goodwin Games. Rob enjoys most working with his father on stage, but has been lucky to appear with him on According to Jim, The Defenders and as a high school basketball coaching tandem in Thunderstruck. LARRY JOE CAMPBELL Larry Joe Campbell is excited to be onstage with this super talented cast! And he is ecstatic to be back with Jim again having worked together for 8 seasons on According to Jim. In 2008, Ruf Records won the rush for Joanne’s signature, and soon she was working with veteran producer Jim Gaines (Carlos Santana, Johnny Lang, Stevie Ray Vaughan), bassist Dave Smith and drummer Steve Potts on the songs that became her debut album White Sugar. Soon enough, the buzz was building, with Joanne both raising her profile supporting behemoths like Black Country Communion, and honing her craft on 2010’s Diamonds In The Dirt. Having received a nomination for ‘Best New Artist Debut’ at the auspicious British Blues Awards for White Sugar, Joanne scooped consecutive wins in the ‘Best British Female Vocalist’ category at both the 2010 and 2011 events: a haul that cements her position, as Blues Matters magazine once put it, as ‘the new face of the blues’. Since then, she’s broken into the notoriously hard-to-crack US market, beaten the stereotypes of her age and gender, and won the respect of the giants. “There are a lot of great guitarists and singers in the blues today,” says Joe Bonamassa. “What I see in Joanne Shaw Taylor that sets her apart from the rest is the ability to write a great song. Not only is she a killer guitarist and singer, but you find yourself walking away from her shows singing her songs as well.”
When Annie Lennox paused her Diamond Jubilee Concert performance to let a white-suited, angelwinged blonde fire a soaring Les Paul solo into the sky above Buckingham Palace, uninitiated viewers all asked the same question. Who’s that girl? Needless to say, the music fans and blues-heads in the crowd already knew the answer. It was Joanne Shaw Taylor. It’s astonishing to note that this prolific musician is still only in her mid-twenties. It’s been quite a ride. Four albums. Countless shows across the planet. Support slots with everyone from B.B. King to Eric Sardinas. And of course, that performance with Lennox in June of 2012 – watched on television by 17 million viewers. Joanne never imagined any of that at the start. Back then, she was just an ordinary schoolgirl, bored with the music she heard on late-’90s pop radio, rifling through her father’s record collection and falling for albums by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and Jimi Hendrix. Guitars were “lying around the house”, she recalls, and at 13, she’d picked up her first electric and was practicing “every minute”. Joanne left school at 16 and ran straight into her big break, as a twist of fate directed her demo tape into the hands of Eurythmics icon Dave Stewart after a charity gig. Reflecting on his first impressions, Stewart recalls that “she made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end” and his phone call the following day proved the start
