ACCESSIBILITY
Welcome to the Oakville Centre! We ask that you follow these simple guidelines to ensure a pleasant and memorable experience for all.
The Oakville Centre and the Town of Oakville place a high priority on accessibility to the public. We are constantly striving to meet the needs of our customers.
In consideration of those in the audience who may have allergies, please refrain from using perfume or cologne when attending a performance.
Patrons requiring wheelchair or accessible seating arrangements are asked to call the box office at 905-815-2021 or e-mail us at boxoffice@oakville.ca. Our box office staff will be happy to book accessible seating and answer any questions you may have regarding accessibility at the Oakville Centre.
Cell phones and other electronic devices should be muted and not used while in the theatre. Photography and recording devices are strictly prohibited inside the theatre.
Accessible features include curb cuts at sidewalks and a ramp to the entrance of the theatre on Navy and Church street approach. Our main entrance doors are equipped with electronic openers and the auditorium offers handrails.
Food is not permitted in the theatre. Beverages, such as water and soft drinks in clear plastic bottles are permitted and alcohol will be permitted during designated performances. Please refrain from unwrap-ping candy during the performance.
The Oakville Centre does have some accessibility challenges due to its design and age. The theatre does not have an elevator. The theatre’s seating area of 17 rows has a steep incline. There is one barrier free washroom on the main level in the lobby. Due to fire regulations and for the safety of patrons, wheelchair and walker seating is located in Row S.
Latecomers and re-entries will be seated at a suitable break determined by the production. You may be asked to wait in the lobby. Babes-in-arms and young children are welcome to the Family Series performances. Contact the box office for all other performances. Each person entering the theatre requires a ticket. Group bookings are available for 10 or more. Please contact 905-338-4161, ext. 3204. All ticket sales are final.
The Oakville Centre offers a Sennheiser assistive hearing system, free of charge. Patrons can access the headset by requesting the equipment at the lobby bar on their arrival.

One accessible parking spot is available on Navy Street and two spots in the Church Street parking lot. These spots are best suited for those attending performances in the Main Auditorium. Accessible parking spots on the lower level, at the back of the theatre would only be suitable for those attending an event in the Studio Theatre. For additional accessible parking spots, please refer to the map on page 4.

Whether you are here for the first time, or you’ve experienced performances at our venue many times over the last 38 years, I would like to welcome you. I am very pleased to announce the second half of our 2014/15 season. The line-up of performances includes some extraordinary and inspiring Canadian and internationally acclaimed musicians, famously funny comedians and artists from a variety of genres – pop, rock, jazz, world music and dance. As you know, Oakville is a culturally vibrant town. I am always impressed with the breadth of talent and creativity presented by the artists and performers that come through our doors to share their work. Beyond the shows that the Oakville Centre is presenting this season, I would like to encourage you to explore everything the Oakville Centre has to offer, including performances of theatre, dance, music, and much more; brought to us by partners from the community. Earlier this year, the Oakville Centre underwent a few enhancements to make your experience with us a more enjoyable one. First, we refreshed our lobby washrooms for your improved comfort. We also installed a new d&b audiotechnik sound system that has been designed specifically for the Oakville Centre to deliver outstanding sound quality and an improved concert experience for you. d&b is regarded as one of the leading companies in sound reinforcement systems because of their use of technological developments, system integration principles, quality of construction and standards of service. We hope these changes sound good to you! The Downtown Cultural Hub continues to make good progress as Council moves the Downtown Plan into its next phase. Town staff will continue to define the cultural facilities and outdoor programmable spaces and take them through evaluation criteria to present options to Council in 2015. After Show Artist Chats The After Show Artist Chat is your opportunity to learn more about the artist’s background, their interpretation of the work or what makes them tick. With the support of the Department of Canadian Heritage we are pleased to announce a series of complimentary After Show Artist Chats with a moderated discussion between the artist(s) and a featured guest moderator. These informal discussions around the creative process will be hosted by Paradiso Restaurant (unless noted otherwise), right across the street from the theatre. Each chat will start a few minutes after the show at Paradiso and run for no longer than 30 minutes. Tickets for the After Show Artist Chats are available on November 10, 2014, the first day of public ticket sales. There is a limit of four tickets per purchaser.

“Reinventing the Genesis Experience” Lead guitarist of Genesis and Phil Collins Band • Thursday, January 22 at 8 p.m. Bursting onto the international music scene in 1975, Daryl Stuermer toured Europe with critically acclaimed jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and went on to record three innovative albums with him. Since becoming lead guitarist and a touring member of the super-group Genesis in 1978, Daryl has toured the world to sold-out crowds with both Genesis and as an original member of Phil Collins band. Stuermer has created the signature lead guitar sound of many Phil Collins mega hits including In the Air Tonight and Easy Lover. Today, he performs with his five piece group, The Daryl Stuermer Band, which truly showcases his unique blend of rock and jazz guitar and continues to expand on over 30 years of musical accomplishments. Between world tours and hit recordings, Daryl has released eight solo albums of original music and covers his favorite Genesis tunes along the way on 2002’s Another Side of Genesis. Keyboardist Kostia Efimov was recognized as a prodigy from age four, and studied classical piano in Soviet Russia during his entire childhood. He continued his passionate interest in music and ultimately graduated from the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory. By 1989, he had developed a keen obsession with jazz and pop music and decided to travel from St. Petersburg to Milwaukee, WI to take part in a cultural exchange program. Within two weeks of his first concert at the Milwaukee Art Museum he was offered a recording contract with Narada Records and went on to perform with icons of the American pop music scene. Kostia also composes soundtracks for film and theatre productions and has recorded solo albums including Suite St. Petersburg and 10 Pebbles. He has been performing with Daryl since 1990. His keyboard and synthesizer skills provide the perfect backbone and atmosphere for The Daryl Stuermer Band.
Bassist Eric Hervey has been an integral part of the band since 1995. A professional musician since the age of 16, he’s played in nightclubs and traveled the world with countless bands. Through the years he has recorded and performed with artists such as Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits), Stacey Hayden (Sherriff) and Ansley Dunbar (Journey). He’s made his mark on every genre of music as a musician, songwriter, arranger, recording engineer and producer. Drummer Alan Arber is well known throughout the Midwest for his live shows with Daryl Stuermer, Mary Karlzen, and many other bands in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas. His talent extends to commercial jingles, recorded CD projects for Hal Leonard Publishing and recording sessions for a number of artists including Willy Porter and Janet Planet. He performed on a “Best Independent Original” Grammy award-winning song in 1990. Alan holds a Masters Degree in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Nevada Las Vegas Forrest “Woody” Mankowski has been performing professionally since age 12. Besides singing, he also plays tenor, alto and soprano saxophones, as well as clarinet and flute. Woody’s voice has been recorded on over 500 commercials. You may have heard him on television or radio singing or playing on jingles for clients such as Turner Classic Movies, Simplicity Lawn Mowers and Miller Lite. He has been a featured soloist with The Boston Pops, The Detroit Symphony, and The Seattle Symphony, among several other major U.S. symphonies, as the male lead in The Baseball Music Project. As a freelance instrumentalist, Woody has backed up popular artists such as Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, James Ingram, and Cheap Trick. He has worked in pit orchestras for touring Broadway shows including The Producers, Chicago and Hairspray.

The Oakville Infiniti Classical & World Artists Series
Johannes Linstead Saturday, January 24 at 8 p.m. named the # 1 jazz festival in the US. Johannes’ legendary concerts have brought the group as far as the Middle-East, performing for royalty in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Together, Johannes and his group set the stage on fire as they let loose a fiesta of Afro-Cuban percussion and Spanish guitar magic. When creating new music, Johannes derives his inspiration from his many travels, from Spain to the Caribbean, from India to the Middle East. Each new land bringing him a wealth of exotic sounds and rhythms to colour his musical pallet. Having developed a love for the tropics, Johannes now calls the Dominican Republic his home away from home. A deeply spiritual person, Johannes is a certified yoga instructor and conducts yoga and music retreats when his touring schedule allows. In 2006, he founded Divine Earth (divineearth.org), a humanitarian organization promoting meditation, yoga, holistic living, and the healing power of music. Johannes states, “I use music as a way to express what words cannot say. Every note contains a part of me and all the love, joy, hope and compassion in my heart. I believe that music has the power to uplift humanity – I see it all the time at every one of my concerts. To be able to bring happiness to so many people is a true blessing.”
From being named Canada’s Guitarist of the Year, to winning six “Best Album” awards, to four top-ten Billboard charting albums, and a JUNO nomination, Johannes Linstead has become recognized internationally as one of the best selling guitarists in the Instrumental and World Music genres. Chances are even if you don’t know the name you’ve heard his music. Johannes’ music has been used in some of the most popular TV shows, such as Californication with David Duchovny, The Following with Kevin Bacon, and Burn Notice. His music was heard around the world a few years ago during the Winter Olympics as part of world champion figure skater Stephane Lambiel’s choreography and recently featured in the hugely popular video game Tropical 4. In 2009, Johannes signed an endorsement deal with the largest musical instrument manufacturer in world, earning him the prestigious title of “Influential Artist” with Yamaha Guitars USA. His group consists of congas, bongos, accordion, bass and Spanish guitars, with each band member lending his own unique charisma, creating a rare on-stage chemistry that moves audiences to their feet, clapping along with the music and occasionally shouting out “ole!”. They perform at many of the top music festival in the US and Canada, including the Catalina Island JazzTrax festival in California, which was

In 1977, Robben Ford assembled a group of veteran session musicians to record his album The Inside Story. The trio of musicians, which included keyboardist Russell Ferrante, bassist Jimmy Haslip and drummer Ricky Lawson, soon discovered a certain chemistry and musical affinity that led to the formation of The Yellowjackets. ROB SCHNEIDER The Hot Chick and The Animal. His other film credits include Big Stan, Shark Bait, The Waterboy and Big Daddy. Schneider began writing jokes as a teenager, appearing at local venues. After opening for comedians such as Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, he made his major network television debut in 1987 on The David Letterman Show. In 1990, Lorne Michaels saw Schneider’s appearance on HBO’s 13th Annual Young Comedians Special and hired him to be a regular on Saturday Night Live. During his four seasons at SNL, Schneider was nominated for three Emmys and a Peabody Award. Schneider is an active supporter of several charities. He founded The Rob Schneider Music Foundation, which helps provide music education for middle school and high school students.
Emmy-nominated actor Rob Schneider, well known for his trademark blend of character and comedic acting, has broadened his focus to include directing, producing and writing. After a nearly 20 year break, Schneider recently made a return to standup. He released his first comedy album Registered Offender to coincide with the tour. Schneider is well known for his longtime relationship with Adam Sandler and Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison. Schneider has starred in several Happy Madison projects, including Bedtime Stories, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, The Benchwarmers, 50 First Dates, The Longest Yard, Eight Crazy Nights, Little Nicky and Mr. Deeds. Also for Happy Madison, Schneider co-wrote and starred in Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,
TIM MEADOWS Lorne Michaels asked him to join SNL as a featured player. Nominated for an Emmy as part of the show’s writing team that same month, he made the transition to cast member status two years later. Several years after appearing in a string of films based on Saturday Night Live sketches, including Coneheads and Wayne’s World 2, Meadows was offered his own chance at features. The 2000 release of The Ladies Man gave the eponymous hero Leon Phelps the opportunity to bring his Courvoisier-drinking romantic adviser to the big screen. In 2002, he joined the cast of the sitcom Leap of Faith. Meadows continues to appear in feature films, last seen reprising his role of Malcom in the SNL alumni ensemble Grown Ups 2. Meadows also co-starred in the comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story with John C. Reilly. Other films include Jack and Jill, Benchwarmers, Semi-Pro with Will Farrell and Aliens in the Attic with Kevin Nealon and Ashley Tisdale. He is a regular correspondent on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The Colbert Report. Some of his other television credits include The Office, The New Adventures of The Old Christine and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
One of the longest-running cast members in the 37-year history of Saturday Night Live, versatile comedian Tim Meadows crafted some of the series’ most memorable characters during his 10 years on the popular late night show. Such characters included Leon Phelps, The Ladies’ Man and Lionel Osbourne, host of the fictional public affairs show, Perspectives, as well as uncanny impressions of OJ Simpson, Ike Turner and Sammy Davis Jr. Meadows also played school principal in the hit comedy Mean Girls and co-starred with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in the blockbuster comedy Grown Ups. Meadows studied television and radio broadcasting at Wayne State University before performing improvisational comedy at the Soup Kitchen Saloon. In 1985, Meadows relocated to Chicago, where he joined the legendary comedy troupe Second City. During his three-years at Second City, he wrote and starred in productions of The Gods Must Be Lazy, with Chris Farley; It Was Thirty Years Ago Today; and Flag Smoking Permitted in Lobby Only, gaining a loyal following with his sharp comedic talent. In 1991, Meadows achieved the dreams of comics nationwide when producer
CHRIS KATTAN Head and even filmed the pilot episode in Hollywood. However, he was replaced with Joe Rogan for the series. Kattan appeared in a Diet Pepsi MAX commercial during Super Bowl XLII that featured What Is Love and had many actors in the commercial performing the Butabi head bob. In 2009, Kattan starred in the miniseries Bollywood Hero, where he portrays himself and the difficulties he faces after a career as a comic actor, trying to attain leading man status. Kattan appeared in an episode of How I Met Your Mother as a star in a fictional movie within the show. He played himself acting as Jed Mosely, a character based on the main character Ted with an arrogant personality.
Kattan was a member of several improv/sketch comedy troupes, one of them being The Groundlings in Los Angeles. His father was an original member of the troupe. He moved to New York City to work on Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2003. His recurring characters included Mr. Peepers, Mango, Azrael Abyss, Kyle DeMarco from The DeMarco Brothers, Gay Hitler, Suel Forrester (known for the term “dagitybo”) and, most notably, one half of the Butabi Brothers with fellow SNL cast member Will Ferrell, known for their trademark head-bobbing. Kattan and Ferrell continued the characters in 1998’s A Night at the Roxbury. Kattan was set to host the game show Gameshow In My

Don’s desire to take a serious shot at music was ignited with the unexpected success of his debut album – fittingly called Change Your Life. Released in the fall of 2006, it garnered the #1 spot on the National Aboriginal Countdown and received a total of seven nominations for the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMAs). In February of 2009, Don released his second album Deepening, which saw two more singles climb to #1 on the National Aboriginal Countdown. Deepening also earned him Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, Male Artist of the Year at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, and two more nominations at the APCMAs. His professionalism and perseverance caught the attention of a local radio host, who bestowed Don with the James Brown Hardest Working Musician Award. While this one was meant to be a joke, in reality, it rings pretty true! His third album, The Long Way Home was released in the fall of 2010. With impeccable production and presentation, The Long Way Home has received great reviews from media and is generating excitement among fans. The countryflavoured first single Right Where I Wanna Be has been featured on radio stations across Canada, and continues to climb the charts. Grateful for his success so far, and eager to see what the future brings, Don’s decision to make music for a living is proving to be a good one. Don is deeply inspired by his life, his family, and his surroundings. That’s why he makes a point of spending as much time as possible at the cabin, canoeing in the wilderness, or traveling with his wife. Because no matter what else is going on, it’s the little things that matter most to him.
Don Amero’s musical style has been likened to John Mayer meets Keith Urban. His four albums (Heart On My Sleeve, The Long Way Home, Deepening, Change Your Life) have generated nine national/international awards, and more than two dozen nominations, including the 2013 JUNOs. Bettye LaVette Saturday, February 21 at 8 p.m. with special guests THE WALKERVILLES Growing up, Betty Jo Haskins parents sold corn liquor and her living room was oft-times visited by The Soul Stirrers, The Blind Boys of Mississippi, and many other traveling gospel groups of the day. By 16, she decided to change her name to something more dramatic and thus, Betty LaVette was born. At the heart of the Bettye LaVette story, is the notion of creative survival. It is her voice that both announces and ensures that survival; it is her voice that, no matter how dire the circumstances, lets you know that she will not be denied. It is her voice that compels you to listen to every word she says, sings or writes. That voice – rough, tender, sensuous and soaring – is an instrument of inspiration. Known for her covers of popular songs, Lloyd Bradley from BBC Music praised Bettye for her unique approach: “When most other artists do them, they’re cover versions. But when Bettye LaVette does them, they’re interpretations, such is her talent for getting inside a song and extracting a depth of soul and meaning that might even surprise the original artist.” On her second album, the Grammy Award nominated The Scene of the Crime, she transformed country and rock songs written by Willie Nelson, Elton John, and Don Henley, among others, into devastating mini-dramas. In 2008, she performed a critically acclaimed version of Love Reign O’er Me at The Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to The Who. GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS Friday, February 27 at 8 p.m. • Dan Cooper Concert Series The Great Exhale was recorded in an abandoned Toronto subway station, down three long flights of stairs where Magoffin and the band had to wait until the wee hours of the morning for the trains to stop overhead before they could hit the record button. “We set up a studio from scratch on the moist florescent-lit oil-coated subway platform of the unused Lower Bay Station. It was bleak. I could not tell if the recording was any good, because our playback system was nearly useless in the echoing, cavernous tunnel. When we finally listened to the results, we were amazed to hear how beautifully the song fit with the other album tracks,” says Magoffin. “Somehow, Great Lake Swimmers sound just like they should no matter what tools they’re using or how far they get from civilization.” Dekker has spent the last decade entrancing listeners with his unforgettable voice and compelling songwriting. Great Lake Swimmers have long been a word-of-mouth favorite in their home country of Canada for whom critical mass was inevitable. They’ve been regarded as a national treasure by the CBC, with Lost Channels (2009) topping the charts at CBC Radio 3 and on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart. In the U.S., Lost Channels debuted at #10 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and was a favorite among influential bloggers and NPR staff. The band has received public endorsements by the likes of Feist, Robert Plant, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams and cyclist Lance Armstrong. The latter two have both raved about the band on their personal websites; the former have handpicked the band to open shows and whole tours. Josh Groban has been known to open his show with a Great Lake Swimmers cover, and the band has shared the stage with such varied artists as Calexico, Sarah Harmer, Bela Fleck & The Sparrow Quartet, Hayden, Sloan, Goldfrapp, and Bill Callahan of Smog. With timeless melodies telling undiscovered stories, Great Lake Swimmers’ New Wild Everywhere maintains an acute respect for the folk tradition, while at the same time transforming it for new listeners everywhere.
New Wild Everywhere is the follow-up to Great Lake Swimmers’ critically acclaimed, Polaris Music Prize shortlisted and Juno nominated 2009 album Lost Channels. Their fifth album in just under a decade, this new collection of 12 tracks reveals a depth and maturity previously only hinted at by lead singer and songwriter Tony Dekker. Featuring the touring band from Lost Channels, New Wild Everywhere thematically picks up where the previous album left off, exploring transcendence in the natural world to describe the universal themes of love, mortality and escape. For a band whose storied location recordings in increasingly out-of-the-way places have brought their output to an almost mythical status, longtime Great Lake Swimmers producer Andy Magoffin was thrilled to be asked to capture the new album in a real studio. Magoffin recalls, “I finally got what I always wanted: Tony Dekker asked me to help his band make a record in a real studio. No extension cords, boat rides, generators, buzzing flies, squirrel noise, missing connectors, furnace cycles, motorcycles, faulty rentals, bad weather or bad headphone mixes to mess things up. We chose to work in Toronto at Revolution Recording, a brand new studio with brand new everything, except for the old stuff which is also brand new. We had access to a great many microphones, instruments, processors and people we would not normally have had the privilege of working with.” “We wanted to try something new, expand our horizons, and flex a bit of the creative muscle we’ve built up through years of touring,” says Dekker. “It came as a bit of a surprise how well we functioned as a band in that environment. We were able to focus completely on the songs, rather than the logistical obstacles of waiting for the boat to dock, or the rain to stop. The folks at Revolution felt like extended family and the studio itself is a real Toronto gem.” However, no Great Lake Swimmers album would be complete without at least one field recording. The song

Jann Arden is a Canadian born, singer, songwriter, broadcaster and author. Jake ShimabukUro Thursday, March 5 at 8 p.m. • Dan Cooper Concert Series In his young career, ukulele wizard Jake Shimabukuro has already redefined a heretofore under-the-radar instrument, been declared a musical “hero” by Rolling Stone, won accolades from the disparate likes of Eddie Vedder, Perez Hilton and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, wowed audiences on TV (Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O’Brien), earned comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, and even played in front of the Queen of England. With his new record Grand Ukulele, Shimabukuro’s star may burn even brighter. An ambitious follow-up to 2011’s Peace, Love, Ukulele (which debuted at #1 on the Billboard World Charts), the Hawaiian musician’s new record finds him collaborating with legendary producer/ engineer Alan Parsons, best known for his work on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, The Beatles’ Abbey Road and his own highly successful solo project. “It was very organic how it happened,” says Shimabukuro (she-ma-boo-koo-row). “He attended a couple of my shows near
where he lives in Santa Barbara and the concert promoter put us in touch. I was stunned. I mean, THE Alan Parsons? We ended up having dinner before the show and he casually mentioned the idea of possibly working together on a project. It was a priceless opportunity I didn’t want to pass up – he’s a genius.” Parsons ended up helping Shimabukuro expand his sound, bringing in a 29-piece orchestra and a big-name rhythm section, including drummer Simon Phillips (The Who, Toto), session superstar bassist Randy Tico and Kip Winger (Winger, Alice Cooper), who helped with the orchestration. “The best thing was that, even with all those people, we recorded everything live with no overdubs,” says Shimabukuro. “It was great, tracking live with an orchestra and a rhythm section. We picked up on each other’s subtle emotional cues – you could feel everyone breathing together. It was like the old days of recording – when everyone tracked together – there’s a certain magic that happens.”

Directed by Soulpepper Founding Artist, Joseph Ziegler, six members of the celebrated Soulpepper ensemble seamlessly portray over 50 memorable characters in a virtuoso theatrical experience, filled with compassionate humour and abundant humanity. orchestral arranger Andrew Powell, Alan dropped the “Project” identity for Alan Parsons - Try Anything Once in 1994. The partnership continued for On Air in 1996 and The Time Machine in 1999. During this time the first incarnation of “Alan Parsons Live Project” toured to sell-out audiences throughout the globe. Following Alan’s relocation to California, a new Live Project band was formed in 2003. Another band reshuffle happened in 2010. The current live band consists of Alan on acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals, P.J. Olsson on vocals, Manny Foccarazzo on keyboards, Guy Erez on bass, Alastair Greene on guitar, Danny Thompson on Drums, and Todd Cooper on sax, percussion and vocals.
With over 50 million albums sold around the world Alan Parsons quickly established himself as a performing artist alongside his outstanding reputation as a producer and arranger. With hit albums that include Tales of Mystery and Imagination (1976), I Robot (1977), Pyramid (1978), Eve (1979), The Turn of a Friendly Card (1980), Eye in the Sky (1982) and many more, their focus was on very high quality studio sound production. Alan was fortunate enough to work as assistant engineer on the last two albums by The Beatles and after he qualified as a fully-fledged recording engineer, he went on to work with Paul McCartney and The Hollies among many others. But it was his contribution as engineer on Pink Floyd’s classic Dark Side Of The Moon that really got him world attention. That soon led to striking successes as a producer - notably with Pilot’s Magic, John Miles’ Highfly and Music and Steve Harley’s Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me). He also produced the hugely successful Year Of The Cat album with Al Stewart and two albums with American progressive rock band Ambrosia.
The album A Valid Path, Alan’s foray into electronica was released in 2004 and featured Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, The Crystal Method, Shpongle, Uberzone, PJ Olsson and Alan’s son, Jeremy. 2008 saw the reissue of all the Alan Parsons Project albums in expanded form, containing never-before-heard bonus material and a 2CD compilation called The Essential Collection. One of the most familiar Project tracks is Sirius, perhaps best known as the Chicago Bulls theme. It was also used as the walk-on music for The New Orleans Saints at their triumphant Superbowl game in 2010 and at the 2012 European Cup soccer matches. Sirius has also been featured at countless other sporting events and in the movies Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and Beerfest. Alan has come full circle and is back in his role as producer and engineer both at his own Santa Barbara studio and other studios internationally. Alan produced an album called Grand Ukulele with Jake Shimabukoro, the virtuoso ukulele player, whose YouTube video of While My Guitar Gently Weeps has received over ten million hits! The album contains a

Alan has received a large number of awards including 11 Grammy nominations, The Les Paul Award in 1995 and The Diva Hall Of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award in Munich, Germany in June 2012. He is in demand as public speaker and was keynote speaker at the 1998 Audio Engineering Society Convention in San Francisco and was the opening speaker at the TEDx Conejo conference in California in April 2012. Alan has two sons, Jeremy and Daniel, from his first marriage - both living in the UK. Alan now lives on an organic avocado ranch in Santa Barbara, California with his wife Lisa and her two daughters, Tabitha and Brittni, three dogs, several cats, chickens, and an 18-hand Clydesdale called Dante.

EAGLES GREATEST HITS The Eagles • Thursday, April 9 at 8 p.m. On their first four albums, the Eagles were at pains to demonstrate that they were a group of at least near-equals, each getting a share of the songwriting credits and lead vocals. But this compilation drawn from those albums, comprising the group’s nine Top 40 hits plus Desperado, demonstrates that this evenhandedness did not extend to singles – as far as those go, the Eagles belong to Glenn Frey and Don Henley. The tunes are melodic, and the arrangements – full of strummed acoustic guitars over a rock rhythm section often playing a shuffle beat, topped by tenor-dominated harmonies – are immediately engaging. There is also a lyrical consistency to the songs, which often concern romantic uncertainties in an atmosphere soaked in intoxicants. The narrators of the songs usually seem exhausted, if not satiated, and the loping rhythms are appropriate to these impressions. All of which means that, unlike the albums from which they come, these songs make up a collection consistent in mood and identity, which may help explain why their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) works so much better than the band’s previous discs and practically makes them redundant. No wonder it was such a big hit out of the box, topping the charts and becoming the first album ever certified platinum. Still, there must be more to it, since the album wasn't just a big hit, but one of the biggest ever, becoming one of the very few discs to cross the threshold of 20 million copies and competing for the title of best-selling album of all time. ROBTARDIK Saturday, April 18 at 8:30 p.m. in The Studio Theatre In a career spanning over two decades, Rob Tardik has established himself as an award winning guitarist and contemporary jazz/world instrumental music artist. He has performed at venues all across North America including a recent sold out concert at the prestigious Glenn Gould Theatre in Toronto. Rob enjoyed a stellar release with his 2011/12 CD release Balance, Energy, Laughter, Love (B.E.L.L.) which spawned three U.S Billboard singles two of which went Top 10. Rob was featured on the cover story for the Oct/Nov 2012 issue of Smooth Jazz News Magazine and his single Christmas Morning was Billboard’s most added holiday track that year. B.E.L.L. has also made the top 50 list of 2012 on SmoothJazz.com coming in at #15 and was a top 10 album (#6) for 2011 in Smooth Jazz News magazine. From rousing strike songs to soft lullabies to toe-tapping Cape Breton ditties, Tompkinsville’s music enhances the journey of Joe Laben on his quest to get a home for his family – a quest that leads him to become more than he ever dreamed he could. LINDSAY KYTE Whether it's travelling to a new country for an assignment, embarking on a new theatre project or just going to the dentist, it seems everywhere Lindsay Kyte goes she finds a story – often in addition to the ones she is there to tell. Though she has made a career as a writer and performer of seeking the heart of others' stories, it seems the stories of her own that she stumbles across are the ones that catch ears and hearts, changing those who hear them. Telling her own stories has found Lindsay shaking Paul McCartney’s hand, having her work read by thousands, carrying a symbol of hope across continents on the lapel of her jacket and appearing on jumbo screens as hundreds wept as she told a tale close to their hearts. In 2007, Lindsay Kyte opened a book and found her Great Uncle Joe and Great Aunt Mary Laben staring determinedly up at her from the page, labelled as pioneers of the co-operative movement. Lindsay's life changed on the spot. It was then that her quest to tell the incredible story of Tompkinsville as a stage play began, leading Lindsay herself on a journey of coincidences, miracles and situations that leave you shaking your head in disbelief.

Tompkinsville had a first draft reading of select scenes at Festival Antigonish and was further developed when Lindsay got a Masters of Arts at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts (LIPA) in England which resulted in a staged public reading in Liverpool. LIPA is founded by Sir Paul McCartney and when she graduated, Sir Paul gave Lindsay her degree himself.

Just over 20 years ago, this not for profit charity called The Community Foundation of Oakville (renamed The Oakville Community Foundation) was established. An initial gift of $355,000 was provided and in just one year The Foundation made an initial grant of $10,000 to the Waterfront stage in Coronation Park. Today The Foundation is able to grant annually to charities over $2 million.
The Foundation is a conduit between the passions of philanthropic families and the needs of the community. As a registered charity, The Foundation is one of the largest members of a national network of over 190 Canadian community foundations. They support individuals, families and corporations who come from all walks of life, economic backgrounds and charitable interests that have one thing in common – a desire to make a difference today and leave a legacy tomorrow for Oakville. Vital Grants is just one example of the ways in which The Foundation can and does work together to achieve greater and more sustainable solutions. We all care about our homes, our communities, the places we have lived, played, worked, and raised a family and many of us want to find a way to give back to these places. The Foundation has been making it possible to give back to the community now, and leave a legacy for the future since 1994.

Performed and acclaimed on several world stages, Closer is a voluptuous and vibrant exchange, imbued with an intense yet simple sensuality, that of the tension between two bodies. Over the course of twenty minutes, Céline Cassone is carried, pulled and lifted with movements of crystalline beauty and delicacy, rousing the sentiments of the audience, who are transported into the couple’s passionate relationship.

Led by the masterful command of Artistic Director Louis Robitaille, BJM is a repertory company that presents a hybrid form of dance that combines the aesthetics of classical ballet and embraces many other different styles of dance. Very contemporary in its current approach, BJM performances are sexy, explosive, original and accessible, and its superb dancers are widely acclaimed. The term “jazz” in the name refers more to a “jazzing up” of classical ballet rather than a musical or dance style.
In this new work for BJM, the choreographer draws his inspiration from the world we live in, the frenetic pace of everyday urban life. His observations were the trigger for creating choreography inspired by the movements of crowds, moments of agitation, and the hustle and bustle of the city. Andonis Foniadakis searches for a counterbalance, bringing beauty to the fore and turning frenetic movement into a dance that brings people together in a joyous, liberating fashion.
HARRY For this new creation, made-to-measure for the BJM dancers, the Israeli-American choreographer Barak Marshall was inspired by the inner battles we all wage. “Life is a constant struggle,” he says, “in which we are continually faced with conflicts with regard to culture, gender and species.” Between men and women, in particular, compromises must be made to achieve a balance. This piece revolves around the character of Harry, who struggles to overcome forces both physical and existential. Teeming with energy, the work underscores a recurrent theme in human interactions: conflicts and our ability to overcome them.

Prince designed Purple Rain as the project that would make him a superstar, and, surprisingly, that is exactly what happened. Simultaneously more focused and ambitious than any of his previous records, Purple Rain finds Prince consolidating his funk and R&B roots while moving boldly into pop, rock, and heavy metal with nine superbly crafted songs. Even its best-known songs don't tread conventional territory: the bassless When Doves Cry is an eerie, spare neo-psychedelic masterpiece; Let's Go Crazy is a furious blend of metallic guitars, stonesy riffs, and a hard funk backbeat; the anthemic title track is a majestic ballad filled with brilliant guitar flourishes. Although Prince’s songwriting is at a peak, the presence of the Revolution pulls the music into sharper focus, giving it a tougher, more aggressive edge. And, with the guidance of Wendy and Lisa, Prince pushed heavily into psychedelia, adding swirling strings to the dreamy Take Me With U and the hard rock of Baby I'm a Star.
