Ms. Marion Wohlrab Events and Programs Director 5662 Cougar Lane Kearns, UT 84118
Dear Ms. Wohlrab:
The Greensboro Sports Commission could not be more pleased or supportive of our bid to host the United Sates Speedskating Congress and Hall of Fame Induction in May, 2015. In the early years of our Commission, we assisted Greensboro native and highly promising speed skater Joey Cheek with his training needs and I was also privileged to serve on the planning committee that recognized his Olympic achievements with a city‐wide “Joey Cheek Day” celebration. Interest here in speedskating has remained strong as Heather Richardson from neighboring High Point has emerged as one of the world’s best, so it would be highly fitting for the USS Congress and your prestigious Hall of Fame ceremony to be staged right here in the Piedmont Triad! Our nickname “Tournament Town” speaks to a lot of things, but most importantly, it reflects our attitude and can‐do spirit in bringing great organizations like US Speedskating to our community and helping achieve a first‐class experience. We are committed to working closely with you and your staff in meeting the expectations of your delegates and guests and helping make your meetings and celebration event memorable. The Greensboro Sports Commission along with the exceptional staff at the Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau looks forward to hosting the USS Congress in the spring of 2015!
Very best wishes!
Sincerely,
Kim A. Strable President

Greensboro Profile Throughout years of growth and prosperity, Greensboro has always held a long tradition of hospitality, beauty, cleanliness and safety. Even with a population of more than 240,000, the city has an atmosphere and personality that invites visitors to relax, feel at home and enjoy the leisurely pace that its residents know as a way of life. Many factors blend to make the city great, and variety is chief among them. Whether it's shopping, dining, the arts, entertainment or recreation, Greensboro offers an array of choices that are easily accessible via well-planned traffic patterns. The city is a shopper's paradise. Spacious malls and shopping centers with department stores, restaurants, spas and salons, specialty shops, movie theaters and more are cities within themselves. An abundance of unique restaurants makes eating out in Greensboro a true pleasure. Asian, Greek, Italian, Mexican, Indian and French cuisine, as well as specialty establishments offering seafood delights, supreme steaks and gourmet hamburgers, promise satisfaction for any palate. For some time, North Carolina has widely been known as "The State of the Arts," and Greensboro's contribution to that distinction is without rival. Music, drama, art and dance entertain patrons throughout the year. Two universities and four colleges issue a standing invitation to cultural events, such as extensive recitals and concerts, art exhibits and a full season of theater with everything from original dramas to classics to touring Broadway shows. The busiest host in town is the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Sporting events, recreational activities and consumer shows abound at this state-of-the-art entertainment venue. Greensboro is well-known for its outdoor celebrations. All year long, traditional, historical and contemporary events stir citizens together. In fact, the history of Greensboro proudly links the area with the early heritage of the United States. Lastly, a stroll through a park amid blazing fall colors, a hot dog on the Fourth of July, a glass of apple cider freshly pressed, a crowd cheering for a home run and a pops concert on the lawn at sunset in summer, all are a part of Greensboro. And, they all speak profoundly of a way of life that has a special flavor — a flavor called home. A home where company is always welcome.
Welcome to North Carolina Variety Vacationland Here is a land that will charm and captivate you for as long as you can stay. You won't want to leave because there is so much of this state to see, feel and touch. The highest and oldest mountains in the eastern United States are in North Carolina, where virgin forests are still intact for all mankind to enjoy. Here, the air is washed by the morning dew and is so clean that you can see and smell its purity. The Piedmont's gently rolling hills link eastern and western North Carolina and are home to the state's urban areas. Some of the best golf courses in the country dot the landscape. North Carolina is home to more than 300 miles of beautiful beaches, including some 100 miles of national seashore that is forever safe in its natural state. The famous Outer Banks, where isolation has created a very special charm unique to coastal America, are a proud part of the state's coast. Four distinct seasons provide a charming change of pace and a variety of activities, ranging from enjoying spring flowers to sunbathing to snow skiing. And yet, the state has a mild climate year-round. All this and more can be yours in North Carolina.

Dining Greensboro's selection of restaurants promises pleasure for every palate. Creative cuisine blends traditional Southern recipes with authentic dishes brought by a diverse ethnic population from around the world. You can still sample purely delicious Carolina barbecue and a plate full of down-home cooking. If you prefer classic and elegant continental fare, many restaurants oblige with regal service and ambiance. Not to be missed are the subtle — and sensational — flavors of ethnic foods prepared by native chefs. Chinese, Italian, Vietnamese, French, Indian, Mexican, Thai, Greek, Caribbean and Japanese are a few of the many possibilities. Specialty restaurants highlight seafood, pasta, desserts and favorite regional dishes from around the world. Many Greensboro restaurants are becoming known for using locally-produced goods and products. These restaurants strive to support local farmers and manufacturers by buying seasonal fruits and vegetables, locally made goat cheese and different stone ground meal, and even local textiles in wait staff uniforms, as noted by food critics and editors. Greensboro also enjoys a myriad of catering, takeout and delivery services.
