The University of West Florida (UWF) English Department hosted a Writing & Editing Intern Fair at the UWF Commons Auditorium. Various local businesses were on hand to encourage students to apply for an internship to gain valuable skills to boost student resumes and connect with potential future employers.

The student attendees visited the booths to learn about each entity. Regina Sakalarios-Rogers, Ph.D. coordinated the fair. Area businesses, non-pro t organizations like the Council on Aging and Open Books-Pensacola, as well as local publishers including our very own VIP Pensacola, Associate Publisher Verla Price were there to share expertise. Writers were also present including a Poet Laureate with Emerald Coast Writers and the UWF Creative Writing Lab. The University Archives and West Florida History Center Archives Manager brought a unique, local, advertising book which predated ‘phone books and Google’.

Dr. Rogers stated, “We hold the Intern Fair each spring semester so students can nd community partners who are willing to provide experiences that will shape career goals and further develop their writing and editing skills.”
