Branding
Create an identity for David Parry Employment Law, an employment law firm in New York, USA.
The concept was to create a two part logo that featured a monogram and also a typographic element, this is so the identity can be used on a large variety of printed ephemera and across a wide ranging variety of mediums.
- Logomark - Identity - Suitable Stationery
The identity needs to function across a range of suitable stationery.
The identity was to be kept classic and formal with the use of a sans-serif typeface.

Research
Research & Context
As this brief was a quick turnaround day brief the research i undertook was some quick research into existing corporate branding using serif typefaces. Everything i have seen is exactly what i thought it would be using primary blues and a crested logo as i would have expected from law firm or in the associated industries.

I did find some different, conceptually and aesthetically more interesting pieces like the photograph above that utilises layout and finishes in a much more effective way than the others.

Development
Development
During the development of the brief i went through a few different iterations of the identity using different elements, layouts and typefaces as you can see above. Focusing on the use of serif typefaces as i felt these carried the purpose and formality i was trying to convey with the identity.
OUGD603
After some development, and because i only wanted to spend a day on this brief i decided to incorporate the monogram style logo with the typographic logo to create a unified identity.

Printed Stationery
Outcomes
I’m pleased with the outcome of this brief especially as it was just a one day brief. I think the identity communicates the formal and professional approach of the law firm and the stationery i have chose to apply it to here shows that.

The production of the printed ephemera was kept to one colour to keep the cost of production low. But as the business cards are something that would be exchanged between potential clients they needed to have a little bit more detail to them, this was applied by sandwiching the front and back with a layer of black card in the middle. This carries the colour scheme through further but also adds an extra detail to the cards. On reflection they could be further improved if the monogram was embossed into the cards.
