Identity & Promotional Material
Create a logo/identity mark that can be applied across print and digital applications.
Karl sees his photography as him questioning his own morals and the morals of others. So the concept was to take this mirroring approach Karl takes in his work and use that as the basis of the identity.
- Logomark - Final Show Promotion - Photobook
Design and produce a photo book of the photographers best work, that can be used to show prospective clients.

Research
Research & Context
For the research to do this brief i looked into existing photographer branding with a typographic approach as this was the route i was looking to go down with Karl’s identity. I feel that the examples that i found whilst they were all nice identity i didn’t feel that the communicated the photographers conceptual thinking through them.
OUGD603
With this is minds i now knew that i needed to communicate Karl’s conceptual thinking within his identity and that i also wanted to stay away from the cliché camera references like the image in the middle of the top row.

Development
Development
At the start of the development for the identity i thought it was best for me to go away and run through some ideas and do some experimentation in the typographic route that i was wanting to follow and to then meet with Karl to discuss the direction further.
OUGD603
Karl liked the direction i was going in and selected the identities that he like but also wanted to play on the mirroring aspect some more and further development was done to achieve the final identity. The development of the photobook was fairly straight forward we had decided we were going to emboss the corner of every page and that the book would come apart as separate prints.

Final Show Promotion
Outcomes
For Karl’s end of year show promotion i had suggested that we produce an A3 fold down leaflet to accompany the show and to give attendees something to take away and remember the show by, Karl liked this idea.
OUGD603
I suggested that the front show be one larger image and the title of the show which could in turn double up as a poster, and then the reverse side should contain some more photographs and a synopsis of his concept for the pieces in the show. Karl supplied me with the photographs and the copy and it was produced as you can see above. I am happy with the outcome of this and i feel like this offers a good accompaniment to the show.

Photobook
Outcomes
For the photobook we wanted to create something that was tactile and something that any one who received it would want to keep it. But also as a away to compile a set of separate prints, that could then be used as the book or as individuals.
OUGD603
We did this through embossing every print in the bottom left corner, and decided to bind the book on the right hand side which isn’t the conventional method because this carried Karl’s conceptual approach to photography, which is questioning the viewer. It also carried through the concept of mirroring that we had for the identity.
