Studio Brief Title

Brief 14 - Mr Porter Synopsis Create a platform where the user can interact with style they see in magazines or on the street and get an exact or very near example from the Mr Porter shop, it must also function as a place to read and discover by bringing together the journalistic and digital outputs of Mr Porter.

An app that allows users to get a clothing match or recommendation from the Mr Porter stock from another users style photograph. Integrating instagram and gathering any photographs tagged with #Mr Porter. This would also incorporate the rest of the Mr Porter journalistic output.

Evaluation

This brief has been a brief i have really enjoyed doing as it allowed me to bring in one of by biggest interests being menswear and designing a concept product for a brand/retailer that i already engage with on many levels.

This was the first iPhone specific digital project i have undertaken this year and i think the outcomes are of a good standard considering this. Using the skills i have developed from designing websites and other digital projects i have tried to apply these to this brief.

I wanted to design something that incorporated the whole spectrum of Mr Porter output, including the fantastic digital and editorial content. By using full bleed images and clean functional buttons throughout the app i feel that this hits their brand and audience well. The app is aesthetically pleasing, functional and also makes the most of the content within it.

The main feature of the app is a Mr Porter Picks functions which allows the user to record/scan things and then the app will match these with products from the Mr Porter catalogue, i think this shows my ability to think conceptually and also think outside the box, come up with products/features and consider user experience as well as just designing an interface.

I think you can see the progress i have made with my digital design work from the start of the year and from not knowing anything about it in the middle of second year to now, the progression i have made i feel is very good and I’m now outputting high quality, well thought out, considered digital design.

Overall, i feel this brief has been a big success and I’m very happy with the outcomes, i feel that they could sit with the existing Mr Porter range seamlessly and as a Mr Porter user i think it is something that the audience would very much like and find very useful.
