Brief 16 - D&AD Sky Synopsis Create a copy-led, integrated campaign that uses Sky’s unique personality to thrill and excite current and future customers through eye-catching headlines, scripts, long copy or stories. With so many ways to watch TV and movies, and new competitors entering the market all the time, Sky needs to stand out from the noise. The concept of this brief was to create a micro-site for Sky in which copy-led headlines where followed up with great Sky content.

Evaluation The competition brief i chose this year was the D&AD Sky briefs, i didn’t really like the look of any of the competition briefs this year from D&AD or YCN, but as we had to do one i chose this Sky brief. I chose it because it asked for a copy-led campaign and i thought i could improve my use of copy doing this brief. During the brief i was stuck between two idea one was to create a micro site of great sky content or to do a standard copy led advertising campaign, i decided to go with the micro site idea as it was a design for digital media idea and this is something that i have been working with all year. The major benefit for this site was that i decided to focus the design on a tablet size screen with the idea that Sky would use it at Sky stands and in stores as a marketing tool. I started by selecting words that i thought represented sky for the copy and then using them as header and then putting Sky content below them for the user to experience the word that had come before. As far as ideas go i think this was alright and as far as the design goes i think it could probably been more interesting if i would have fully invested myself in the brief, but i still think it is decent and functional as it stands. But finding it hard to fully invest myself in briefs that i am not as interested in is something that i need to improve because i realise that post degree and in a job i will not always be doing groundbreaking interesting briefs all the time. Overall, i feel that the outcomes to this brief are ok, but they probably could have been better if i had invested more time into the brief.
