Studio Brief Title

Brief 08 - Work In Progress Synopsis Create a digital timelapse film for the Work In Progress exhibition at Leeds College of Art, the film is to be played in the gallery on the closing night.

I wanted to create a timelapse film showing the process of the weeks working in the gallery. I wanted it to show the evolution of the space from being a stark empty space to being a gallery full of work.

Evaluation During the year i had decided that i wanted to try and work with some different mediums, and this brief presented this opportunity.

For the exhibition of our work in the Leeds College of Art gallery Amber had decided that we would work in the space for 3 weeks and then the outcome of the exhibition would be our working process for this 3 weeks and then the work we had produced during that time, and then there would be a closing night celebration. This was something i thought was an interesting idea and wanted to get involved with so myself and a group of students took the reigns in planning and getting involved with the exhibition.

We worked down in the gallery space for three weeks which was unusual at first but then as time went on i really started to enjoy the different environment we were working in and this really started to give me some head space to produce some good work. For the outcome to this brief i decided to document the process of us as students working in this environment by producing a short time-lapse film for the closing night of the exhibition.

I think the outcome has really worked quite well in documenting this process and has allowed me to develop new skills in working with this different media. I have developed my skills in the program Final Cut which i think gives me another skill that not everyone will have so can only benefit me in a positive way. The film went down well at the closing night with both staff and students so in that sense the brief has been a success.

Overall, i think this process and brief has been valuable to me because it has meant that i have been able to further my ability to organise and collaborate with other students and staff, and it has also allowed my to work and develop skills in different areas.
