Iris na Nollag anseo, an 19ú eagráin. Comhghairdeas mór don lucht fé 13 agus don fhoireann fé 21 a bhuaigh dhá chraobh le déanaí. Nollaig shona agus ath-bhliain faoi mhaise do chách agus buíochas mór d’ár léitheóirí go léir. Beidh muid ar ais leis an gcéad eagrán eile i Mí Feabhra 2017. Bí Folláin.
The Winter Solstice The 21st December brings the shortest day to the northern hemisphere. In Ireland, we can expect less than 8 hours of light, with sunrise at 08:47 and sunset at 16:17. The winter solstice marks the moment when the north pole and the northern hemisphere is tilted away at its furthest from the Sun in the annual cycle, before it begins to tilt back sunwards again. Our Celtic ancestors had a good understanding of the seasonal cycles when they built Newgrange some 5000 years ago, where the central chamber of the tomb is filled with winter sunlight through a narrow light shaft for only a few minutes each year…on the 21st. In the southern hemisphere the exact opposite occurs: mid summer and the longest day.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY • Club AGM Sunday 18th Dec. at 4p.m. • Santa arrives in TC on Sat.10th Dec. at 11:00. • 7-a-side fun tournament for Lads and Ladies St. Stephen’s Day.
SEANFHOCAL Giorraíonn beirt bóthar - Two people shorten the road.
Under 21 Championship Div.2 Winners 2016 Congratulations and well done to our U21 squad & management on a fantastic win in the Div.2 Championship Final over a fancied Templeport team at Breffni 3G. The Gaels took the game to Templeport from the start with a terrific first half to go in at the break at 1-6 apiece. In the 2nd half the Gaels pushed on and looked comfortable after 45 minutes with a 7 point lead. However 2 quick scrambled goals from Templeport in the space of a few minutes threw the game wide open. A late goal won it for the Gaels, winning on a scoreline of 4-8 to 3-9. Comhghairdeas.
Under13 Championship Winners 2016 Congratulations to the U13 Players and Management on their excellent championship final win against Castlerahan on the 3G pitch Breffni Park. Final score was 3-15 to 0-10 after a fantastic contest between two very strong teams.

Gaels Profile KAREN BOYLE What is the best piece of advice you’ve received? It was from Cormac Neligan “Don’t try to bust it, it will come.” What is the best piece of advice that you give? All you can do is your best. Who, in the GAA world do you most admire and why? Bubbles O’Dwyer from Tipperary, he is my favourite hurling player. He is an inspiration to watch and helps his team mates on and off the field. What is your lasting memory of Terry Coyle Park? Training in the rain, sleet and snow. Which three guests would you invite to dinner, and why? Jamie Doran, Tom Ellis from Lucifer, and Will Smith. I’d let them talk away and just watch LOL. Who was your toughest opponent? Michelle Fleming from Ballinagh Camogie club. When we mark eachother it’s always a battle. What are your thoughts on game strategies to date?

I think we should just play the game like the old days, it was better. What is your favourite position on the pitch and why? I love playing full-forward. I’ve always loved scoring and at the minute my top score is 4-2 in camogie. What was your least favourite position on the pitch and why? To be honest it doesn’t matter where I’m placed on the field I will always try to my best. Finish the sentence; “If I was invisible for a day, I would...” Help someone who needs helping where ever they are.

my gaels xv KEVIN MEEHAN My Gaels XV is based on my own teammates down through the years. Very difficult decisions all over the pitch. Not many dominated underage games like Chris Quinn so he gets the nod in midfield beside “Adge”. Hard to pick anyone else but “Chesty” Reilly for captaincy.
