I am a graduate of the City College of New York; I hold a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.
International travel and cultural and social exploration I regard among the most significant drivers towards my understanding of Architecture and its virtues. I place emphasis on bold, cerebral, and sensitive processes that catalyze ethical and expressive design solutions in the built environment. My work is featured at the threshold of design and Architecture, making connections with many aspects of culture and society through advanced mediums of representation. Gregory M Nakata

This library is an urban folly; an injection of the ethereal‌ it is situated in the back of a community garden amongst impromptu spaces adjacent to a public school. A series of choreographed entry points obscures its entry which is accessed by existing paths. While no physical connections are made, the library serves as an apparatus to the school making a visual connection directly into the library from the school’s second level. An assembly space and terrace at the garden level link the community space to the program of the school.

Living Pixels is a master planning exercise which tests the conventions of master planning by offering a more organic strategy with an inherent specificity. Each pixel relates to a different scale thereby encouraging an understanding of the full spectrum of spaces which are necessary to orchestrate the redevelopment of an inclusive community whilst engaging with the existing housing in Red Hook Brooklyn.

The Future of Productivity Offices are based on Microsoft’s Vision of the Future of Productivity, where glass and technology are fully integrated components designed to interface with the user in clutter-less environments where space becomes about experience and personalization. The building is a rational response to the context and environmental factors of the site.

Audubon Terrace is a landmark block with a central plaza enclosed by several cultural institutions and edifices of higher learning. The DIA Audubon Terrace Museum serves as an epicenter for patrons visiting the campus. The Museum is arranged sequentially, where the galleries are viewed in ascending order and are punctuated by smaller galleries designed to extend and reflect the horizon through the use of highly dark reflective surfaces akin to a mirrored tunnel looking towards an infinite horizon line.

The mapping of site conditions produced a hybrid scaffolding - a field of vectors and thresholds. A single ribbon translates the vector map into a linear sequence of nodes created by specific folding along the measured thresholds which create a series of follies that begin to imply spatial moments and connections beyond the site’s extents. The assignment of space which makes up the two primary zones of the house, perched at the top of the hill at the edge of the trees.

As the lines between design and production become increasingly blurred, innovative architectural practice requires the ability both to integrate diverse software packages and to move seamlessly from digital models to physical output. These projects aim to exploit the newest digital design and fabrication tools in ways that will advance all stages of architectural production, from conception and visualization to development and manufacturing; a framework for conceptualizing and producing physical output.

Wendy does not play the typical architecture game of ecological apology - she is pro-active. That is why Wendy is composed of nylon fabric treated with a ground breaking titania nanoparticle spray to neutralize airborne pollutants. During the summer of 2012 Wendy will clean the air to an equivalent of taking 260 cars off the road. The courtyard at MoMA PS1 will be activated by tools like shade, wind, rain, music, and visual identity to reach beyond her envelope. Wendy’s spiky arms reach out with micro-programs like blasts of cool air, music, water cannons and mists to create social zones throughout the courtyard.

Wendy’s boundary is defined by tools like shade, wind, rain, music, and a striking form to reach beyond physical boundaries - in essence not just a space but an environment. Spiky arms made of fabric mesh reach out, each with micro-programs like blasts of cool air, water cannons, and mist to create social zones throughout the courtyard.

SHADE
35% of the Site on Average
Wendy’s pointy shape looks the way it does because of one simple equation: More Surface Area = More Clean Air. The simplest, cheapest, and most abundant construction system in New York, the scaffold, is deployed to create a 56’ x 56’ x 45’ volume. Wendy hybridizes the system with a tube and clamp arrangement. That frees the fabric from any structural function.
2 acrEs of TrEEs
Wendy’s outfit is treated with Pureti titania nanofilm that neutralizes airborne pollutants. Powered by sunlight, the titania in Wendy’s surface operates as a catalyst, that removes pollutants from the air. Wendy’s surface can neutralize one half ton of nitrogen oxide particles from the air over the course of a single year - that is equivalent to planting two acres of trees. All of this means that PS1 will have the cleanest air around this summer.

The BOOM high-rise typology reinvents towers as we know them, by moving from “living on top of each other” to “living on top, with each other.” This is done by FLipping the building organization, and liberating the very top of the building by inserting amenities and informal community spaces on a top deck. By giving the top of the tower to the whole community we also create an icon for BOOM, a tower apart from traditional offerings. Floor plans inside of the tower are further re-deFIned through unit and shared living space arrangements.

PKF cited unemployment as a mixed blessing for hoteliers, as a sluggish job market has kept labor costs down on the operational side but has also restricted room-rate growth. Rate increases will start accelerating after this year, it predicted room rates would increase 5.5% in 2012 and 5.8% in 2013.

In the penultimate year of my undergraduate program I had the opportunity to study abroad in the United Kingdom. The program featured Interviews with notable British architects, engineers, and educators who coordinated tutorials, tours, and research opportunities. A one-week course at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales introduced green building modules taught by the summer faculty and MSc students. A final design project was directed through 24 hour design charrettes with Arup, Hopkins Architects, and Grimshaw Architects and presented to the public at the Building Centre in London.

Visual communication has become an important part of my understanding of Architecture and expressing ideas through all forms of media to engage and inform. My work has been featured in books, publications, and websites around the world - to audiences around the world, seeking to understand Architecture and its virtues through the medium of print and online communication. My work represents ideas at the threshold of Architecture and graphic design that seeks to explicate greater ideas of concept and pedagogy.

The furniture design course at the University of Idaho, under the direction of Frank Jacobus, was an opportunity to work with concepts of scale and proportion while coordinated within a system of constructability. A study of notable chairs initiated the discussion over craft and replicated design as an expression of the modernist movement and the designers of that period. Our own furniture design was imbued with this same emphasis on rigor and technology; three pieces were created, one reproduction and two original pieces - all were displayed in galleries and exhibitions throughout the city.

In my pursuit of understanding architecture I have known no better catalyst for discovery than that of international travel. My photography captures moments of experience that have directly influenced my interest in color, material, context, lighting, craft, and space and are referenced in my own work. I am truly fascinated in the world and have advanced my ability to express ideas of beauty, humanity, and place through these experiences.
