Shane Keating – VRT Hearing 17 March 2021 – (GAR) 83(1A), 83(2) & 84A(1), failed to present the greyhound “Woolybully Keats” free of any prohibited substance ‘Pholcodine’ for an events at Sale on 14 June 2020 & 24 July 2020. Mr Keating pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a $1,000 fine, with $500 suspended & $300 on the 3rd charge. Woolybully Keats was disqualified from both events.

David Willcocks – VRT Hearing 22 March 2021 – (GAR) 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Big Bash Punter” free of any prohibited substance ‘Procaine’ for an event at Healesville on 15 June 2020. Mr Willcocks pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a 3 mths suspension wholly and a $2000 fine with $1000 suspended. Big Bash Punter was disqualified from the event.

PROSECUTIONS OVERVIEW Victorian Racing Tribunal Matthew Marshall – VRT Appeal 1 March 2021 – GAR 69(1), the greyhound “Isla Bale” was charged with Marring at Bendigo on 19 February 2021. Mr Marshall pleaded ‘Not Guilty’. The VRT dismissed the appeal. John Mangion – VRT Hearing 11 March 2021 – (GAR) 83(2) & 84A(1), failed to present the greyhounds “Awesome Asset”,“Moonyeen” & “Taipan Jill” free of any prohibited substance ‘Arsenic’ for events at Shepparton on 5 March 2020, Sandown on 3 May 20 & 10 September 2020. Mr Mangion pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a total period of 18 mths suspension with 14 mths suspended and a fine of $1500. Awesome Asset, Moonyeen & Taipan Jill were disqualified from the events.

Mario Briganti – VRT Hearing 23 March 2021 – GAR 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Rockstar Ruby” free of any prohibited substance ‘Meloxicam’ for an event at Sandown on 16 July 2020. Mr Briganti pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a 3 mths suspension, with 1 mth suspended for 24 mths and a fine of $2000 with $500 suspended for 24 mths. Rockstar Ruby was disqualified from the event. Barry Mills – VRT Hearing 24 March 2021 – GAR 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Nunniong Bear” free of any prohibited substance ‘Meloxicam’ for an event at Meadows on 29 July 2020. Mr Mills pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a $1500 fine with $500 suspended. Nunniong Bear was disqualified from the event. Sean Lithgow – VRT Hearing 25 March 2021 – GAR 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “New Sense” free of any prohibited substance ‘Pentobarbitone’ for an event at Healesville on 17 April 2020. Mr Lithgow pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a 3 mths suspension with 2 mths suspended. New Sense was disqualified from the event. David Burnett – VRT Hearing 26 March 2021 – GAR 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Who Told Stevie” free of any prohibited substance ‘Procaine’ for an event at Geelong on 7 August 2020. Mr Burnett pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a a $1500 fine with $500 suspended. Who Told Stevie was disqualified from the event. Melanie Lithgow – VRT Hearing 25 March 2021 – GAR 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Gotham Duke” free of any prohibited substance ‘Pentobarbitone’ for an event at Warragul on 5 May 2020. Mrs Lithgow pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a 3 mths suspension wholly suspended for 24 mths. Gotham Duke was disqualified from the event.
Clinton Capuano – VRT Appeal 12 March 2021 – GAR 69B(1), the greyhound “Snapper Smith” was charged with Fail To Chase at Sandown on 4 March 2021. Mr Capuano pleaded ‘Not Guilty’. The VRT dismissed the appeal.
Pia Triaca – VRT Hearing 10 March 2021 – LRR42.9(a), LRR42.9(c) & GAR105(4)(i), Ms Triaca failed to notify GRV of the deaths of three greyhounds within 2 working days and failed to dispose of these greyhounds in an approved manner. Additionally, Ms Triaca failed to notify GRV of the location of 14 greyhounds in her possession within 3 working days. Ms Triaca did not attend the hearing and failed to enter a plea. The VRT imposed a 3-month disqualification and a $1000 fine on each charge, with the disqualifications to be served cumulatively.
Peter Terry – VRT Hearing 12 March 2021 – (GAR) 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Impending” free of any prohibited substance ‘Prednisolone’ for an event at Sale on 19 June 2020. Mr Terry pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a of 4 mths suspension and a $1,500 fine with $500 suspended. Impending was disqualified from the event.
Braden Finn – VRT Appeal 23 March 2021 – GAR83(2)(a), GAR79A(4), GAR83(2)(a) & GAR86(o), On 16 March 2021, Mr Braden Finn filed a notice of appeal regarding the suspension of his registration on 25 May 2020 due to prima facie evidence of rule breaches relating to prohibited substances. The VRT refused leave to extend the time within which to appeal.
