Lachlan Vine – VRT Hearing 7 June 2021 – GAR 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “More Deductions” free of the permanently banned prohibited substance ‘Benzoylecgonine’ for an event at the Geelong Greyhound Racing Club on 28 February 2020. Mr Vine pleaded ‘Not Guilty’. The VRT imposed a 9-month disqualification and “More Deductions” was disqualified from the event.

PROSECUTIONS OVERVIEW Victorian Racing Tribunal Barry Anderson – VRT Hearing 9 June 2021 – (GAR) 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Barellan Rae” free of any prohibited substance ‘Theobromine’ for an event at Bendigo on 18 November 2020. Mr Anderson pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a 3mth suspension wholly suspended for 24mths. “Barellan Rae” was disqualified from the event. Mim Gilders – VRT Appeal 10 June 2021 – GAR 69B(1), the greyhound “Great Question” was charged with Fail To Chase at Bendigo on 4 June 2021. Ms Gilders pleaded ‘Not Guilty’. The VRT dismissed the appeal. Paul Kaltsis– VRT Hearing 11 June 2021 – (GAR) 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Big Dove” free of any prohibited substance ‘Cobalt’ for an event at Bendigo on 30 October 2020. Mr Kaltsis pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a 12mths suspension with 10mths suspended for 12mths. “Big Dove” was disqualified from the event. Garry Barnsley – VRT Hearing 22 June 2021 – (GAR) 83(2), failed to present the greyhound “Block Star” free of any prohibited substance ‘Ketoprofen’ for an event at Warragul on 27 December 2020. Mr Barnsley pleaded ‘Guilty’, The VRT imposed a fine of $1,500, with $1,000 suspended for 12mths. “Block Star” was disqualified from the event.

Darren Langley – VRT Hearing 7 April 2021, Decision released 29 June 2021 – LRR42.18(b), On 21 August 2019, Mr Langley attempted to possess an animal for the purpose of being, or which might reasonably be capable of being, or likely to be, used as bait, quarry or lure to entice or excite or encourage a greyhound or greyhounds to pursue it or them. On 3 September 2019, Mr Langley brought onto the grounds, premises or within the boundaries of his kennel address, a lure partially made of natural animal fibres/hairs, which might reasonable be capable of being, or likely to be, used as bait, quarry or lure to entice or excite or encourage a greyhound to pursue it. Mr Langley pleaded ‘Not Guilty’ to both charges. The Tribunal has considered the circumstances of this case and accepts that special circumstances exist. The VRT imposed a 2-year disqualification on charge 1, commencing on 12 November 2019, and dismissed charge 2. Magistrates’ Court of Victoria Shane Pye – POCTA Application 8 June 2021 – Significant animal welfare issues at Mr Shane Pye’s property resulted in the seizure of three (3) greyhounds on 10 November 2020. The Magistrates’ Court granted GRV full discretion for the rehoming of the three (3) greyhounds.
