Hau'pal (Red Tail Hawk) Health Center The Hau’pal (Red Tail Hawk) Health Center was opened in 2018 to enhance healthcare services for members of the Gila River and Ak-Chin Indian Communities. It also serves Native Americans from federally-recognized tribes living in the heavily-populated southeast area of metropolitan Phoenix. In most cases, depending on the level of care needed, and the time of day, patients will see a provider that day. If you call (520) 796-2600 ext. 2967, 2968 before 2 pm, we will offer you a same-day appointment. If you call after 2 pm, we will offer you an appointment for the next day.
Audiology Audiology services began February 4, 2019. Services are available to assist all levels of hearing health, addressing the needs of patients ages six months old to adults. Services Offered to All Patients: • Audiologic testing for symptoms of hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness • Audiologic evaluations • Cerumen removal

Gila River EMS (GREMS) was established in 1974 and is a community sworn, primary responder, multi-hazard, emergency medical services department within the Gila River Indian Community covering nearly 600 square miles. GREMS role is part of both public safety and healthcare as a department of Gila River Health Care. We work very closely with our public safety partners (Fire, Police, Corrections, Dispatch, Emergency Management) and are charged as the lead provider of out of hospital patient care for the Community. We take this responsibility and duty very seriously, only hiring qualified employees who are willing to serve with respect and dignity and provide the best patient care possible.

Gila River Indian Community Tobacco Tax funds make it possible for Gila River Health Care to plan, develop, and administer several health programs for GRIC members. ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES PROGRAM
To provide alternative holistic therapy to include acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic services to patients who are Community members.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCHOOL COUNSELORS
To provide school based behavioral health services at Community schools.
DENTAL ORTHODONTICS PROGRAM
To provide dental orthodontic services to children who are Community members.
DIALYSIS ADVOCACY PROGRAM
To provide resources to dialysis patients and their families.
EYEGLASS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
To provide one pair of eyeglasses per year to Community members and assist those with low vision in acquiring low vision devices to maximize their remaining vision.
AUDIOLOGY/HEARING AIDS
To provide hearing aids, battery replacement, and assistive devices to Community members with impaired hearing.
To provide medical transportation services for Community patients that are not AHCCCS eligible or for trips not reimbursed by AHCCCS.
PERITONEAL DIALYSIS
To provide startup funding for Peritoneal Dialysis services to Community members.
SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES
To enhance health and wellness of GRIC students by implementing health education, behavioral wellness, nursing assessments that encompass the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of students and families. SHS promotes healthy lifestyles through case management of students’ health care needs.
SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAM
To promote population health by enhancing programming to increase awareness, establish systems to connect GRIC individuals/families to resources for suicide and/or mental health concerns with respect to the culture and heritage of GRIC.
THE CARING HOUSE
To provide financial assistance to GRIC members who reside at The Caring House.

Non-Emergent Medical Transportation Services Transportation may be provided to and from any of GRHC’s locations. We also transport to other local and urban medical offices, hospitals, and clinics. The Navigator Program provides a professional pathway for aspiring Community members desiring meaningful careers in healthcare. This six-month training program prepares GRIC members to meet the minimum qualifications for designated healthcare positions.
