October 9, 2017 On day one we welcomed back the “Training Institute� - a day and a half of intense training for practioners. We also hosted our first ever Resident Summit a day facilitated and planned by our Resident Ambassadors designed to engage shared-equity residents in leadership development. Over 242 attendees joined us early to gain in-depth knowledge to advanace their programs and professional development.

October 10, 2017 On day two we officially kicked off Intersections 2017 with our welcome address and Keynote. Dr. Tiffany Manuel’s remarks were inspired - she helped attendees understand why our collective messages don’t work and how we can change our approach to make an impact. After a full day of session, we ended the day at our Grounded Solutions Network reception. WIth the support of JPMorgan Chase, we took our party to the street - closing down a block in Oakland to connect and celebrate together.

October 11, 2017 On day three we hosted the third annual IGNITE! Community Pitch Fest. It was a session filled with heartfelt, inspirational five-minute descriptions of innovative ideas and projects from conference attendees. Participants voted for their favorite idea and help award a “Voters’ Choice” prize. During the plenary session, we also awarded the Swann Matthei Award, John E. Davis Award for Scholarship and the Inclusive Communities Impact Award.

David Zisser, of Public Advocates in Oakland, CA, won the “Voter’s Choice” Award for their work advancing the legal argument that “renters rights are civil rights!”
Catherine Harrington was awarded the 2017 Swann Matthei Award and Stephen Hill was awarded the John E. Davis Award for Scholarship, for their work to advance housing for all in the United Kingdom.
October 12, 2017 On the final morning of Intersections 2017, we took a Bay Area Deep Dive - exploring what’s working and what’s not as the Bay Area strives to fix its housing affordability crisis - and empowering conference attendees to take these lessons home to their own communities. We also enjoyed the conlusion of our live mural all week Muralist Amaranta Colindres joined us in live painting the themes from Intersections 2017. The completed mural broke into eight panels and were presented to our hosts at the closing plenary.
