Spring Plays have sprung ‘Lockerbie’ and ‘Diviners’ running this weekend

Alison Kjergaard Contributing Writer

There is a certain connotation that goes along with plays: they are colorful, humorous and have a happy ending. The Grove City College spring plays (yes, plural) this year have a different flavor to them, one that defies these connotations and takes things to a deeper level. The two plays focus on the underlying theme of grief, how to cope and how to learn to keep living. “We are delving into heavy material,” Sara Giesler, a junior with a key role in “The Women of Lockerbie,” said. The two plays being performed this spring are “The Diviners” and “The Women of Lockerbie.” “The Diviners” takes place in Zion, Ind. in the dustbowl era. The story circles around Buddy, an “odd” boy who can divine water even though he fears it. When ex-pastor CC Showers comes to Zion, he forms a bond with Buddy and helps him and the other townspeople to “seek to divine the truth from within themselves,” according to the official synopsis. The “Women of Lockerbie” is based on true events surrounding the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Scotland in 1988. The story SPRING PLAYS 8

The results are in and the real-estate mogul Donald Trump is the clear victor after this week’s Super Tuesday primaries. With four other Republican candidates in the race, Trump’s opposition is struggling to unite against the anti-establishment juggernaut. Despite Trump winning seven states Tuesday, the race is far from over. Senator Ted Cruz won three states and a significant delegate count. RealClear Politics shows Trump with 319 delegates, Cruz with 226, and Rubio with 110. Winning only Minnesota’s caucus, Marco Rubio’s performance was largely disappointing in terms of delegates won. Rubio may have easily clenched a win over Trump in Virginia if not for John Kasich, who is continuing what looks like a futile bid for the presidency, is siphoning votes from the Party’s serious contenders. With plurality victories in

10 of the 15 state primaries so far, Trump and his loyal base of supporters have taken advantage of the already fractured Republican Party. He has polled consistently between 30 and 40 percent nationally despite negative publicity that many argue would have fatally injured any other campaign, such as failure to deny the support of the Ku Klux Klan and advocacy for many illegal interrogation practices. Leading into Tuesday’s voting, some Christian evangelicals are becoming increasingly vocal against the leading candidate whom they believe to be devoid of a genuine faith and morals. Publications such as the Christian Post have broken their political silence in an effort to mobilize evangelicals against Trump, remarking “This is a critical time in American history and we call on all Christians to pray for personal repentance, divine forgiveness and spiritual awakening for
