SUMMER PROGRAMS GUIDE
GROVESACADEMY.ORG/SUMMER
Dear Families, Welcome to Summer 2019 at Groves! Summer is the time of year when we are thrilled to offer tailored, intensive, and engaging academic and enrichment programs. These programs are open to all families in our community. Our Summer Program offerings allow families a unique opportunity to experience a Groves education. For many students, summer at Groves is their first positive school experience. They begin to feel confident, smart, and capable, and they may develop a completely different outlook on school. Our mission at Groves is to build confidence, success, and purpose through transformative learning experiences. With more than 45 years of experience, we are learning from our students and constantly honing our teaching methods, allowing our expert teachers to better meet the needs of struggling learners. In addition to offerings through The Learning Center, our school serves students in grades 1 - 12 from September through May. We are also making an impact on the community through our Institute for Professional Learning where we partner with local schools. These three programs allow us to positively impact over 10,000 students each year. Groves is a revolutionary place and we invite you to join us this summer!
Nancy Segreti Kristina Schatz Tutoring and Summer Program Manager Director of The Learning Center
ABOUT OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS During the summer, we are pleased to offer students from the community the same tailored, high quality Groves Academy education that we provide to our full-time students during the school year. Our summer programs employ our proven philosophy of developing strengths and talents, remediating academic weaknesses, and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. By using our research-based curriculum, while maintaining class sizes of 6-8 students, we help students close the gap between their academic potential and achievement. We offer programs for children entering grades 2-11 who have dyslexia, and attention disorders, such as ADHD.

[ ACADEMIC PROGRAM, ENTERING GRADES 2-8 ] STUDENTS IN THE MORNING ACADEMIC PROGRAM attend reading, writing, and math classes for 55 minutes each, plus recess. In each subject care is taken to begin at a level where students can experience success before confidently moving on to more advanced skills. Teachers combine their experience and expertise with care and understanding, using a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to continually assess and address individual needs. A final progress report, including recommendations, is sent following the conclusion of the program.
WE HELP CLOSE THE GAP BETWEEN ACADEMIC POTENTIAL AND ACHIEVEMENT. The 4-week academic morning program provides small class sizes of 6-8 students grouped according to age, reading, writing, and math abilities. Like all Groves programs, the academic programs for grades 2-8 are highly suited for students who have strong ability and a desire to learn along with dyslexia, and attention disorders, such as ADHD.
