ETT Group, as a knowledge transmission center in the field of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy, attached to the University of Barcelona (UB), develops an outstanding task in relation to training, applied research and, in general, the contribution to the professionalization and excellence of these sectors.

The present Report gathers the most outstanding quantitative and qualitative information about our activity, as well as the most relevant milestones that we have achieved during the academic year 2018-2019. Through this document we explain what we do, but also what we are and what defines us as a center that actively contributes to the sector in which we operate, through our own pedagogical model focused on students and based on rigour, quality and experience, and with a firm commitment to responsibility with the environment and with the territory. In this Report we also detail those actions that are carried out in relation to the companies that make up the Group, the links with other public and private entities, the projects aimed at Alumni around the world, the advances in the field of applied research and of course, all the news regarding the educational offer provided to CETT students. With the vocation of connecting talent and providing knowledge to the sector, we highlight the intensification of the research applied during the 2018-2019 academic year. Among the more than 200 actions carried out in this field, CETT has directed and participated in different competitive research projects and has collaborated in research and transfer contracts of special relevance with companies and administrations. It has also been present in more than 90 conferences, has co-directed up to 7 doctoral theses and CETT researchers have published 15 articles in scientific journals and have written 18 book chapters or books. Along the same lines, in 2018 the Tourism & Heritage Journal was also promoted, a publication that aims to share academic knowledge about cultural and heritage tourism, and which has a high presence of CETT researchers in its editorial team. On the verge of fulfilling, in the 2019-2020 academic year, the 50 years of our creation by Gaspar EspuĂąa i Berga, this Report shows the renewal, one more year, of our commitment and our corporate social responsibility with people, the sector and the society around us.

ETT is an international School for education and knowledge transfer in tourism and hotel management and gastronomy. CETT is affiliated to the University of Barcelona (UB). It offers training at all available educational levels providing official recognition - technical training, University graduate and postgraduate, online training, continuing studies for professionals as well as custom-made courses for companies - through its own education model based on: •

A team of teachers and professionals with academic rigor and broad experience.

The development of specialized knowledge in hospitality and tourism, through the Research Groups (Tourism, Culture and Territory, Hotel Business, Culinary and Gastronomy) and Research.

The CETT-UB Business Council, the first forum in Spain linking University and Tourism Enterprises, chaired by the Dean of the University of Barcelona.

A clear International vocation that favors the students’ mobility for both academic and professional exchanges. Its classrooms are a true meeting point of students from all over the world.

The student body distinguishes itself by its solid training and the development of the right aptitudes, which we nowadays find in companies and organizations all over the world, and by its active participation in the various initiatives of CETT Barcelona.

INTERNATIONAL REFERENCE OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES After 50 years of existence, CETT has become an international reference of academic excellence and professional services in Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy. CETT Barcelona is highly involved in the sustainable development of the sector and society and contributes through education, research, innovation and expert knowledge, highly focused on the personal and professional growth of all who form part of it. The Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation was founded in 2000 with the aim of being a boost for training, research, expert knowledge in tourism, hospitality and restaurant management. It also intends to strengthen the links with the professional and institutional sectors and strengthen CETT’s internationalization, helping students in the expansion of knowledge, both at home and abroad, with awards for academic excellence.

COMMITMENT TO CSR CETT Group is a group of companies that focus on education and on offering quality tourism, hospitality and gastronomy services. It is part of our own strategic pacification which defines and develops different actions regarding social, environmental and economic areas. The CETT Group oversees environmental, social and cultural sustainability. It also incorporates criteria of economic sustainability, with the aim of improving its global management and offering guarantees in terms of viability. In addition, it is committed to transferring students responsible management competencies in the different aspects. The CETT Group believes in the development of people, as well as in organic growth as the basis of the own strategic plan for growth and responsible development. In addition, the social aspect of the entity is one of the fundamental pillars of the Group. For this reason, from the beginnings it has promoted and developed initiatives with the different interest groups. The bond with the UB 22 years of affiliation

T

he University of Barcelona (UB) is the university with the largest number of students and with the widest and most complete training offer. In addition, it is the main university research center of the State and one of the most important in Europe, both in terms of the number of research programs and the excellence achieved in this field. It occupies a prominent place in the most important rankings worldwide, in Europe and in the state. In this sense, the results of the 2019 edition of the ranking prepared by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) place it in the 129th position among the best university centers in the world, while it is in first place in terms of the Spanish State. The UB has a tight bond with the history of Barcelona and Catalonia. It combines the values of tradition and the spirit of an innovative institution and academic excellence. It is a urban, open and multicultural university, just as the city of Barcelona.

The different faculties of the University of Barcelona are spread throughout the city, nourishing the relationship of interdependency between the university and Barcelona. This relationship contributes to the cultural life of the city and allows the university community to enjoy the services provided by both the university and Barcelona. CETT has been affiliated to the UB since 1997.

CETT GROUP COMPANIES FOR HANDS-ON TRAINING CETT School includes a series of companies (Hotel Alimara Barcelona, Àgora BCN, CETT Consultors, Barcelona Academic Services and Viatges Century) involved in the Group’s training project (see section 8). These companies play a fundamental role within CETT’s educational model. They actively shape the training of our students and contribute to the development of experience and expert knowledge which is transferred not only to our students but also to the business sector.

LEARNING SPACES CETT School’s set up is thought to favor the implementation of dynamics that foster skill acquisition, team work and the development of specialized knowledge. The School is divided in different kinds of classrooms and spaces that provide the necessary resource to stimulate creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. CAREER SERVICES Career Services is a department of CETT School that offers students professional assistance and orientation in their practical training and later incorporation to the workforce. It favors contact with companies from the industry, organizes activities and monitors closely the evolution of students throughout their studies (see section 7).

The creation and transmission of expert knowledge in tourism, hospitality and gastronomy is one of the main objectives of the CETT Group. New knowledge is generated by CETT Group’s experts. CETT Group’s Research Groups are dedicated to study and research of the tourism field. By means of these Research Groups –Tourism, Culture and Territory, Tourist Accommodation and Restaurant Services, Culinary and Gastronomy– tourism research projects are developed with the aim of investing

Language learning is an essential part of the studies. CETT’s students have the opportunity to work on their international projection since the beginning of their studies. On the one hand, classrooms are a meeting point of international students. On the other hand, our students can study aboard, do internships in international companies, do the SCP in an external company or center and even start their professional career aboard (see section 6). 15

CETT School Spaces & facilities

ETT educational model is developed at the Theory Classrooms, the Technical Classrooms, the Computer Classrooms and other classrooms and spaces, at CETT’s companies for hands-on training (Alimara Barcelona Hotel, Àgora BCN, CETT Consultors, Barcelona Academic Services and Viatges Century) and at the industry. It offers students a unique active learning experience. In addition, it also provides students with a multipurpose space dedicated to tourism, hospitality and gastronomy studies, the Resource Centre as well as the Virtual Campus and Wi-Fi services. The school, located at the Mundet area in Barcelona, also offers other facilities and services to grant the best conditions for academic activities. On February 2nd 2017, the new facilities of the center were opened to the public. The remodeling of the school implied the expansion of the center by more than 1.600 m2 and the remodeling of 2.000 m2. With the creation of new classrooms and the renovation of other existing spaces, multipurpose spaces were created for services, interaction and work to favour the fact of living a dynamic experience to be shared beyond the classrooms. The School has 30 fully-equipped Theory classrooms, 12 technical classrooms, 4 computer labs, a new Gastronomic Laboratory and other spaces for creativity and innovation, the Resource Center and Library Gaspar Espuña, tutoring room, a amphitheater with a capacity for 520 people, the Fòrum, the Jardinet del Fòrum and La Plaça, the CETT’s Training Restaurant, a hotel with 154 rooms and 20 lounges with a maximum capacity for 600 people, a parking lot and a university residence with 220 rooms for students and teachers. With loyal goals to the philosophy of CETT Group –living, experimenting, sharing and learning in a unique School–, CETT still opts for educating the best professionals in the field and offering new specialized services in leading and innovative facilities. These qualities make CETT School a center of international reference in the field of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. CLASSROOMS During the school year 2018-2019, has all kinds of classrooms, classified, in a generic way, in four large groups: •

Theory Classrooms

CETT has 30 Theory Classrooms - three of them are multipurpose classrooms - with an average capacity for 86 students. • Computer Labs There are 4 Computer Labs with a capacity for 44 students. • Technical Classrooms The center has 12 Technical classrooms with specific purposes. These classrooms are prepared either for hands-on culinary and catering training or for research including the Training Sweet Kitchen, various High-Tech Kitchen, Wine Tasting Labs, the Sensory Lab, the Restaurant Workshop, the kitchen Workshop and the Food Preparation Lab. • Other Classrooms The Culinary Demo Classrooms, the UB-Bullipèdia Classroom, The Five Senses Classroom, the Research and Innovation Classroom... RESOURCE CENTER AND LIBRARY GASPAR ESPUÑA The Resource Center counts with a vast collection of documents specialized in topics related to tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. The collection continuously renewed and expanded. It includes a Computer Lab with 23 computers, a large studying room with capacity for 100 people with 12 computers, and the new space Eidos, a space created with the intention of fostering creativity. During the school year 2015-2016, the consultation portal with links and information on tourism, hospitality and gastronomy sectors began an integration process into the Resource Center for Learning and Research of the University of Barcelona (CRAI). Currently, the consultation services of the CRAI – regarding bibliography research as well as electronic journals and resources - can be accessed from the Resource Center and Library Gaspar Espuña. VIRTUAL CAMPUS CETT’s Virtual Campus (see section 10) is a dynamic tool to support face-to-face and online training. It has a desktop and also mobile version through the corresponding app on Android and iOS platforms. The main functions of this virtual learning environment are to support face-to-face and distance training, allow communication with members of the CETT community,

inform about events that are taking place in the School and news about the sector. Besides, it also allows carrying out academic management tasks. Thanks to the Campus and the Virtual Classroom, CETT School can get anywhere and provide training to students living in another cities, towns or countries. CETT offers a variety of programs and subjects that can be taken completely online at undergraduate, graduate and continuous education levels.

Technical and professional training BACCALAUREATE-TECH AND ASSOCIATE'S DEGREES IN HOSPITALITY The Baccalaureate-tech Degree in Cooking, Gastronomy and Restaurant Business Services is a three-year program. Students choose a personalized itinerary between two specialties, Cooking-Gastronomy or Restaurant Business Services, and obtain a double official vocational training degree of Intermediate Technical Degree of Cook-ing and Gastronomy, and Restaurant Services. These studies prepare professionals with a deep vision of both areas, cooking and restaurant, and contribute to the acquisition of key professional skills, focused on the execution of culinary production operations, the service of elaborations and drinks, customer service, departmental management and commercialisation of services. The educational objective of the Baccalaureate-tech in Kitchen Management is train the students to work in restaurant businesses, as owners, kitchen manager or head of the gastronomy section. The objective of the Baccalaureate-tech in Restaurant Business Service Management is to prepare students to develop professionally in restaurant business services, as owner, maître, restaurant manager or food and beverages manager. During this course, 19 visits have been made to companies in the gastronomy sector, and 13 sessions in the classroom, taught by professionals from the most recognized companies. The students have participated in 14 cooking and restaurant competitions. ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE IN TOURISM CETT also offers the Associate’s Degree in in Travel Agencies and Events Management with the objective of training future professionals in the sector from a current perspective. Innovation and new technologies are the key factors of this degree. These studies include, besides a commercial perspective and travel management, all the aspects related with the creation and organization of package holidays. At the same time, students get training in events management with a clear emphasis on public relations and organization management, key elements to grant success. Regarding the Associate’s Degree in Tourism Accommodation

Management, its objective is to prepare professionals in the hospitality sector in the operative aspects and the management of the different sectors of accommodation establishments. The teachers are specialized in the tourism sector and responsible for the Alimara Hotel, student training center. During this period, students have visited 14 companies in the sector, while 7 professionals from relevant companies have delivered training in the classrooms of our Center. Our students have actively participated in 9 events in the sector to complement their training. OFFICIAL DEGREES All these degrees are official degrees approved by the Education Department of the Government of Catalonia. The internships in the sector (FCT) included in the educational program work like a link with the industry, allowing students to gain experience before being incorporated into the industry. CETT’s own project grants students a personalized itinerary, and offers professional orientation taking into account their own skills. During the school year 2018-2019, 450 students were enrolled at CETT School of B-Tech Studies.

Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN TOURISM The main objective of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism is to train professionals in the necessary management skills for head positions in companies and tourism and hospitality organizations and innovate in front of the challenges of globalization, sustainability and technological evolution. This degree also intends to strengthen personal skills necessary to manage teams and projects in a complex and changing environment. The Degree allows the student body to choose between two specialization itineraries: Hotel Management and Tourism Management, while for the 2019-2020 academic year a third itinerary will be offered, Tourism Digital Business Management. Students must complete, necessarily, two internships within the chosen specialty. This allows students to complement their theory education and their practical experience and learn the reality of the tourism sector. The Senior Capstone Project (SCP) is the culmination of the degree and reflects the skills acquired as well as its application and development. The total of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism can be done in English. With the Bachelor in Tourism, students may choose between two itineraries of specialities, Hotel Management and Tourism Management. BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN CULINARY AND GASTRONOMIC SCIENCES This Degree began during the school year 2014-2015, the interuniversity Degree in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences (UB-UPC) trains professionals on knowledge that allows them to understand the culinary and gastronomic phenomenon from a scientific, technologic, social, cultural and management point of view. It gives students the necessary skills to innovate, design, produce and manage services in the field of haute cuisine, restaurant services businesses and the food and hotel industries. In addition, students have the opportunity of developing research projects and advances in the culinary and gastronomic sciences. This Degree is the first one in Spain directed by two public universities. It was created from the union and commitment between the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia- Barcelona Tech (UPC), with the collaboration of the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy CEET-UB, the School of Food and Nourishing Torribera (UB), studies affiliated to the Faculty of Pharmacy, the

Barcelona School of Agricultural Engineering (UPC) and the Alícia Foundation. This collaboration was established in order to offer the best training that suits the needs of the cooking and gastronomy industry and encourage research. In addition, the Degree counts with the gastronomic advice and collaboration of the well-known Catalan chef, Joan Roca and the participation in the design and development of cooks and most recognized professionals of the sector and the food industry. Especially El Celler de Can Roca, Mugaritz, Lasarte, Disfrutar and Escribà, and the companies: ICC, Balfegó, Koppert Kress, Makro, Maheso, Bodegues Torres, Sagardi, Clúster Gourmet, Fòrum Gastronòmic, Grup GSR and Produccions de Gastronomia, as well as the collaboration of Fira de Barcelona. The internship in companies of the sector are carried out from the second year and from the third year are related to the specialization chosen by the Student: Specialization in Haute Cuisine and Culinary Innovation or Specialization in Culinary Management and Innovation in the Food Industry. The methodology of this culinary and scientific degree is to develop the ability to apply the knowledge acquired throughout hands-on training in laboratories and kitchens. Each subject implies knowledge, collaborations in activities and prestigious gastronomic fairs, visits, talks and expert collaboration. In this academic year, 17 outings have been done and we have participated in numerous gastronomic fairs, among which the contribution of 5 students in the pop-up of the Mirazur restaurant, in Madrid, should be highlighted. Students have also actively participated in cooking competitions, in which very good rankings have been obtained.


The master’s degrees CETT provides a complete offer of official master programs that fulfil the current and future necessities of companies and professionals. These programs are nourished and improved continuously by the contributions of the Center’s tourism research group (see section 4). These groups boost the creation of new expert knowledge throughout research in three different fields: Tourism, Culture and Territory; Hospitality, and Cooking and Gastronomy. CETT’s main mission is based in the education of managers and administrators capable of thinking and acting as leaders and changing agents at the sector. With this in mind, we offer a unique experience that transforms and boosts the professional carrier of the students. This experience is based in the development of a responsible leadership capable of transforming companies and undertaking new innovative business models. The improvement of the management skills necessary to face with confidence the constant evolution of the business environment and to respond to the new challenges of tourist organizations and their managers is also consolidated.

The methodologies and strategies of the master’s programs are specifically designed to combine different learning styles to assure the participation and successful learning of every student through the development of creative processes. This encourages the improvement of the necessary skills, as the knowledge of the sector’s basic, critical thinking and decision making and entrepreneurship. In this sense, the activities that take place in collaboration with companies in the sector offer the students body the opportunity to learn with the best professionals, in real case studies. A total of 236 students have completed a master's degree during the 2018-2019 academic year, while 34 outings and participations have been carried out in different relevant activities.

Non-regulated Education: University Extension Programs Regarding the Non-regulated Education: University Extension Programs offered during 2018-2019, they are consolidated as one of the options for the professionals of the gastronomy field to acquire a more professional level and a more updates vision which allows them to develop and professionally progress in the sector. This year the fourth edition of the Cocktail and Mixology program has been carried out meanwhile the new edition of the Executive and Creative Haute Cuisine program counted again with the participation of recognised experts in the field of gastronomy, such as Carles Gaig or Nandu Jubany. As well, we provided the trainings for the Superior of Sommelier, the blended Course of Sommelier, and Management for the Commercial Restaurant services and for Groups. With the new edition of the Non-regulated University Programs, CETT offers professionals of the sector university level programs that add extra value to their current professional profiles.

During the school year 2018-2019, 131 students have completed a Non-regulated Education: University Extension Programs at CETT.

Continuing Studies

CETT places at the disposal of the tourism, hotel, catering and gastronomy industries a specialised training offer, highly applicable and compatible with the work activity, whose objective is to provide added value to the training of professionals. With the purpose of meeting the demands of specialisation of the sector, since 2005, CETT has a catalog of short-term training courses, with training aimed at companies and professionals of the aforementioned sectors and any others who wish to reinvent themselves. In addition, tailored training projects for companies are also offered, in which they are accompanied throughout the process of improving skills of the teams.

In the 2018-2019 year, we have opted to maintain the offer of short-term courses in gastronomy, and above all, the focus on the tailored life-long learning projects. In this area, into the framework of the Program ITACA, it stands out the design, from Life-long Learning and CETT eLearning, and jointly with the company Areas, the specialization course in Restaurant and Retail Establishment Management, with a qualification of

Another fundamental axis that has been worked on and that is still in the process of consolidation is international life-long learning. In this sense, training has been given for the Inacap of Chile and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Colombia. In parallel, new training programs have been designed that will have their first edition in the 2019-2020 academic year: The Professional Chef Diploma and the Wedding & Social Events Management Postgraduate Diploma.


The CETT Campus receives the visit of personalities, experts and companies in the sector, that convey their talent through talks, workshops and master classes.

International Programs The programs of this training have been developed specially for international students interested in having a multicultural experience in Barcelona. Students may choose the program they prefer to fulfil their training necessities and personal preferences. Beyond the undergraduate, master and postgraduate formations, during the 2018-2019 academic year, 24 semester and customized programs have been offered on the CETT Campus for a total of 304 students

CETT eLearning CETT eLearning module teaching, either on-line or hybrid (online and face-to-face combination) has a number of advantages. Students opt for a personalized learning experience with the guidance of expert teachers and professionals with complete time flexibility and the comfort of being able to study anywhere maintaining the educational and academic rigor. For this reason, the online and blended learning methodology is very useful for tailor-made training for companies, entities and professionals. In the 2018-2019 exercise, 73 students have completed a CETT eLearning training, a proposal focused on professionals in the tourism sector that in the 2019-2020 year will be extended with an online postgraduate degree in Revenue Management and Digital Marketing. Also during this course, tailor-made training has been carried out for companies and entities, and it is important to highlight the high degree of satisfaction of the professionals who have been trained in it.

CETT School Guarantees Academic excellence

n October 25th, 2018 the inauguration of the 2018-2019 academic year took place at the CETTUB Campus during which an exercise full of novelties regarding the training offer was presented. The session “El Consorcio Turismo de Barcelona y el futuro del destino: cómo conectar éxito empresarial y progreso social", by Joan Torrella, general director of Turisme de Barcelona, began a course year marked by the increase in international students and the proceedings for the celebration of the 50 years of CETT. Besides the new programs incorporated, each new school year is characterized by the completion of a number of actions, the active participation in the development of the tourism, hospitality and gastronomy sectors, and the contribution to the dissemination of knowledge in these areas. ACTIONS Besides the programs taught every year at the University School (EU CETT-UB), the School of B-Tech Studies (ETP CETT), the School of Continuing Studies, the CETT Language School and CETT eLearning, the students of the different programs attend to master classes taught by experts in the subject and participate in a number of professional visits intended to supplement knowledge acquirement outside the classrooms, in real professional spaces that let students learn first-hand the reality of the sector. Regarding the CETT Group, in relation to the creation and dissemination of expert knowledge in the fields of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy, the alliances and collaboration

agreements with institutions and first level national and international organizations is to be highlighted. These collaborations also extend to the professional internships and academic stays for the students of CETT School. The CETT Group is also part of numerous prestigious institutions and associations (NECSTouR network of European regions for sustainability and competitiveness in tourism...), and the team actively participates in working groups, such as those that allow further development of the Barcelona Strategic Tourism Plan 2016-2020, the Strategic Tourism Plan of Catalonia 20182022 (PETC), the Gastronomy Plan, the Municipal Council City and Tourism, the Barcelona Brand Project, the ICT and Tourism cluster, the Advisor Council for the development of the Tourism Marketing Strategy of the Barcelona Destination (EMTDB), and the Tourism Commission of the Catalan Agency for Cultural Heritage (ACdPC), among others. Another aspect to highlight related to the objective of promoting expert knowledge, research, innovation and technology, is the remarkable presence of the CETT team in conferences, professional meetings and conferences, congresses, seminars, fairs, conventions, forums... from all over the world, to contribute academic value to the tourism, hotel and gastronomy sector (IBTM World Barcelona, Hospitality Innovation Planet, Digital Enterprise Show, Barcelona Tourist Summit, Tourist Forum, Cook & Travel, Third Congrés Català de la Cuina 20182019, Comissió de Turisme de l'Agència Catalana del Patrimoni Cultural, FITUR 2019...). In addition, the team, throughout the 2018-2019 academic year, has conducted 90 papers outside the Center, 18 publications in books, book chapters and digital publications, and 36 articles in scientific and dissemination journals. At the same time, the CETT-UB Campus is the headquarters of numerous relevant events and competitions in the sector (VIII National Forum of Directors of Hospitality Schools AEHOS, Sensory Conference on EVOO in Restaurants, book presentations...), and organizes renowned events such as the CETT Observatory, the CETT Talent, or the CETT Gastronomic Meeting, among others. THE ACTIVE STUDENT BODY CETT Campus students actively participate in events of the sector. For example, this 2018-2019 academic year participation has been done in competitions (and has been awarded numerous times), workshops, fairs and congresses... Some

Students have also been present in the IBTM World Barcelona and in international competitions, such as the EMCUP 2019 (under the name of CETT Knowmads). And it has been an active value in events organized by the CETT Campus to approach the training world and the sector, such as the XIII CETT Gastronomic Meeting, different seminars and training activities, the CETT Pop Up Restaurant, the XXIV Cooking and Services Contest of CETT Restaurants, and the XIII Bacardí-CETT Cocktail Contest, the Royal Bliss Pairing Contest 2018 organized by Coca-Cola

Spain and the CETT-UB Campus, the final of the Coca-Cola Bartalent Lab 2018..., to name a few examples. In addition, our students have participated in the 2018 CETT Sports Tournament, held at the Àgora BCN facilities. HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHING STAFF Another characteristic feature of CETT training is the qualification of the CETT School teachers as well as the collaborators in the various training groups, experts in each subject and in the sector due to their professional career. The versatility of the professional context of the tourism sector means that CETT has a teaching staff that combines teachers with a more academic and scientific profile, with teachers with a profile that is more related to professional experience in the tourist, hospitality and gastronomic fields, that constantly update their knowledge thanks to their link with companies in the sector. Thus, the table shows the teaching staff, associate professors, collaborating lecturers, professors and researchers. Also in the framework of the training, it is worth to mention the academic orientation offered to the students. It is designed to help students in each phase of their process of learning.

Quality Management System Education

In recent years, CETT has created its own Integrated Quality and Environment System (SIQMAC) that incorporates the requirements of quality management systems (based on the ISO 9001 regulations) and the environment (based on ISO 14001 and EMAS) accredited within the organization. The requirements have been adapted to the general culture, policy and objectives, as well as to the expectations and needs of the groups relevant to the organization.

What is VSMA? The Framework for the verification, monitoring, modification and accreditation of official titles (MVSMA for its acronym in Catalan) links the processes of quality evaluation (Verification, Monitoring, Modification and Accreditation), that occur throughout the studies, in order to establish coherent links between them and to promote greater efficiency in their management. The II Smart Tourism Congress Barcelona CETT-UB Three days to think about the phenomenon

O

rganized by the UB Chair of CETT Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy which promoted the CETT Campus of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy and the University of Barcelona with the Barcelona City Council, on November 21, 22 and 23, 2018, the second edition of the CETT Campus congress was held, born as an opportunity for debate and the exchange of knowledge necessary for tourism in Catalonia. In the different days of the II STCB, multiple visions of Smart Tourism appeared, a new paradigm that poses challenges in the understanding of tourism and its management. These reflections revolved around the comprehension of the phenomenon and its relation to the current challenges and opportunities of tourism. The II STCB, with a marked international character, had the participation of 77 authors/researchers, while 21 communications and articles were presented. The format combined the most professional side, with the approach to the latest trends and developments in the sector, and focused on innovation, sustainability, technology and governance. Thus, the three thematic lines under which the Smart phenomenon was focused were the intelligent, sustainable and responsible Management of tourism destinations, Innovation and creativity in business models adapted to the current situation, and the technologi-

cal State-of-the-art in destinations and tourist companies. The Congress was developed in three days -the Entrepreneurs Day (November 21st), the Academic Day (November 22nd) and the Professional Day (November 23rd)-, in which academics and professionals articulated capable synergies to draw the future and the opportunities of smart tourism. Other projects linked to research Thinking ahead

T

he CETT-UB Campus has continued to be linked to the work network “Educating City and Responsible Tourism." Heritage as an identity value of a city, project framed in the State Network of Educating Cities (RECE). Powered by the Barcelona City Educating Department of Barcelona City Council and the UB Chair of Tourism, Gastronomy and Hospitality CETT, it counts on the collaboration of the Tourism Directorate of Barcelona City Council. Progress has also been made with the European EMbleMatiC project, Mediterranean Mountains as Coastal Destinations of Excellence, of which CETT-UB is a partner. Another outstanding project is the one of Indicators of tourist sustainability in urban destinations, linked to the City Council of Barcelona, and

which aims to generate objective information about the tourist variables that condition sustainability, through the definition of a specific indicator system and index, adapted to the reality of urban environments. A very similar project is the one that has been developed with the Barcelona Provincial Council, which explores how to measure sustainability in average and small city centres. During this academic year, a new research project that analyzes the different digital marketing strategies in tourist accommodation has been started. Finally, we have continued promoting research projects in the field of Cooking and Gastronomy, among which the BRAAVA project, which analyzes the characteristics and gastronomic possibilities of Brassica, stands out.

Research and Expert Knowledge Fostering research and innovation: a strategic value

ne of the main goals the CETT Group is the generation and transmission of expert knowledge in tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. This commitment comes true through the three Research Groups, where CETT experts develop tourism research projects in order to provide

expert knowledge and innovation that enable the sector to maintain and improve competitiveness. Research collaboration between the private sector and tourist administrations is also boosted, as well as the establishment of joint research agreements with other universities of international scope.


RESEARCH GROUPS The CETT advances in applied research and knowledge transfer are manifested in the three Research Groups that have been set up in accordance with the priority areas of expertise of the center: •

TURCiT (Tourism, Culture and Territory): It has the participation of 17 professors. The lines of research of the TURCiT are Tourism and Territory, Tourism and Culture, Educational Tourism, Film Tourism and Enogastronomic Tourism.

GRATiR (Tourist Accommodation and Restaurant Services): 10 teachers are involved. The lines of research are Strategy, Performance and Productivity in Tourist Accommodation and Restaurant Services, and Sustainability in Tourist Accommodation and Restaurant Services.

GRCiG (Culinary and Gastronomy): It has the participation of 10 teachers. The three lines of research of the GRCiG are Gastronomic Innovation, Health in the Environment of the Catering Industry and Culinary Heritage.

It should be noted that, since 2017, both TURCiT and GRATiR are Emerging Research Groups Recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya. THE FIGURES In the following pages the three Research Groups of CETT are defined and a summary of the global data of each of them is presented during the 2018-2019 academic year, from September 2018 to August 2019. Each RG has its own memory of academic year activities, which can be consulted on the respective website. These documents specify the following data: • •

I RESEARCH DAY On June 12th, the CETT-UB Campus held the I CETT Research Day, to foster collaboration between RGs and the rest of the CETT research community. Members of the three research groups shared research and research projects and transfer of active knowledge in which they participate, and the doctoral theses developed by some of the CETT-UB researchers were presented to share the progress made.

uring the 2018-2019 academic year, the TURCiT (Tourism, Culture and Territory Research Group) has developed 147 actions, a much higher figure than the previous year, in the 5 different lines of research: Tourism and Territory, Cultural Tourism, Educational Tourism, Cinematographic Tourism and Eno gastronomic Tourism. In relation to the indicators used, and in addition to those specified on the previous page, in this period only the final Degree and Master's projects that have made a relevant contribution have been included. Among the highlights of the year, we must mention the continuity of the European EmbleMatic project - Emblematic Mediterranean Mountain as Coastal Destinations of Excellence project, in which TURCiT is an academic partner and tourism expert; and that of Educating Cities and Responsible Tourism, which must have continuity until 2020. A third relevant project that is being developed with the City Council of Barcelona is that of indicators of tourism sustainability in urban destinations.

First, Estrategias de generación de ingresos de los museos y otros espacios de presentación del patrimonio, by doctors Nayra Llonch and Eugeni Osácar, and published by Trea publishing house, into the collection Manuals, Museum, Heritage and Cultural Tourism. Secondly, Barcelona, una ciudad de película, by Dr. Eugeni Osácar, the second edition of the work published in 2013 by Diëresis publishing house and Barcelona City Council, which in this case includes five new and two expanded chapters. Precisely the presentation of this work has had a great impact on the media and the sector, as well as a remarkable presence in national and international fairs. Finally, Dr. Oscar Casanovas participates as a director in the new book El derecho a la ciudad: el reto de las smart cities with professors Dr. Vicenç Aguado, from the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona, and Dr. Vera Parisio, from the Università degli Studi di Brescia. GRATiR

D

uring the 2018-2019 academic year, the GRATiR (Tourism Accommodation and Restaurant Research Group) has conducted a total of 42 research actions, 35 of which correspond to the Strategy, Performance and Productivity in Tourism Accommodation and Restaurant research line, and seven that are part of the Sustainability line in Tourist Apartments and Restaurants. The research activities of the first line want to contribute to a better understanding of the functioning and strategies of the companies in the sector to improve their performance and productivity; while those of the second line want to contribute knowledge that allows establishing the feasibility of following the business principles associated with sustainability, as well as identifying what are the benefits derived from them for companies in the sector and for society in general.

The OTR provides valuable information on this sector both in the field of supply (owners) and demand (travellers). In the fifth edition (2019) of the Observatory, through a rigorous methodological process - with the sum of qualitative and quantitative techniques -, it has been possible to obtain answers from more than 21,000 rural tourists and almost 4,000 rural owners in Spain, through which, and after analysis, global reports are generated, by territory, on key aspects in the rural tourism sector. Also in this 2018-2019 year, different research should be highlighted. One of them has been the study on the relationship between the position of the official website of a hotel in a metasearch engine and the proportion of direct sales that this hotel can obtain, a research directed by Oriol Anguera-Torrell and Claudia Langer, and that It was presented at the 2019 APacCHRIE & EuroCHRIE Joint Conference international conference, held in Hong Kong. Precisely at this conference, Dr. Oriol Anguera-Torrell presented his study "Hotel firms: Who internationalizes and how?", which analyzes the relationship between the productivity of hotel firms and their expansion strategies, and Claudia Langer presented her research "Social innovation in tourism & hospitality: A bibliometric analysis of its implementation through social entrepreneurs", on social innovation in hospitality.

In relation to the indicators used, and in addition to those specified on page 45, only those final Degree and Master's works whose respective tutors have considered that they have made a relevant contribution to any of the research lines of the GRATiR have been included. GRCiG

D

uring the 2018-2019 academic year, the GRCiG (Culinary and Gastronomy Research Group) has had three lines of research -Gastronomic Innovation, Health in the Restaurant and Culinary Heritage Environment- and has developed a total of 33 research activities, a fact which shows a considerable increase in relation to the previous course. The GRCiG develops research projects, focusing its efforts on establishing guidelines for the development of a research methodology in the culinary and gastronomic world that includes its different facets. The Group is committed to culinary research and innovation focused on its applicability in the professional sector, taking into account the academic world, in order to be the engine that stimulates synergies between these areas and, especially, the expert context that facilitates naturally for future professionals to approach the field of research in cooking and gastronomy. The objective of the GRCiG is to be able to generate and transmit expert knowledge to the cooking and gastronomy sector to respond to current and future challenges in the future in the side of research, and contribute to the generation of the new

research language in culinary science and in the gastronomic world. In this 2018-2019 academic year, different projects should be mentioned. Around the relationship and the new spaces for collaboration in the duality of science and cooking or cooking and science, it is necessary to mention the realization of the project “La Ciencia que se adquiere en la cocina” of the FECYT1 (FCT17-12153), directed by the DHIGECS group, in which, among others, the TURCIT3 group and the GRGiG (Culinary and Gastronomy Research Group) of CETT-UB have participated, with the involvement of GCCG teachers. This project is an example of the use of experimental teaching, which seeks to bring science closer to the daily life of young people and promote scientific thinking with the application of the scientific method in the classroom. All the knowledge generated must be transmitted in different formats (face-to-face workshops, mobile laboratories, a virtual learning center ...), with the support of a web page, an app and the book La cocina como herramienta educativa (Cooking as an educational tool), of the Trea publishing house. Social Responsibility Policy at CETT

T

he CETT Group, as a group of companies dedicated to training and offering quality services in tourism, hospitality and gastronomy, regards corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a part of the founding commitment and allows it to become a reality. The Group focuses their efforts and works to achieve a sector more committed to society and people. It encourages initiative, integrity and self-development, and works as a team in an international context, while maintaining a commitment to the country. Efficiency translates into competitiveness, a fundamental feature to guarantee continuity of the CETT Group, which reinvests the results in education and in the community. Therefore, the Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation, established in 2000, guarantees and promotes the continuity of this philosophy and foundational commitment, through, for example, the granting of scholarships. In addition, another example of this corporate philosophy is the fact that no dividends are distributed. In this context, CSR is conceived at CETT as a tool for corporate improvement, which is integrated into the Group's philosophy and culture. Achieving it means taking a step further in terms of competitiveness, value and business positioning. At the same time, it is an opportunity to develop individual social responsibility (ISR ), encouraging the participation of the whole team and favoring continuous improvement. CSR is part of the CETT Group’s philosophy. It is an attitude shared by the whole team that makes an effort to show this commitment to society throughout their work. In addition, as a training institution, CETT School has the responsibility of

transmitting these values of social responsibility to students. Students are encouraged to develop social responsibility in academic and professional activities. The entire CETT community (students, residents, teachers, professionals...) maintains an individual commitment to share criteria and sensitivity in the field of CSR, and is involved and participates in the current implementation program that is carried out. CSR MILESTONES AND ACTIONS Right from the beginning, the CETT Group has pursued CSR goals. This attitude has been progressively developed thanks to various actions and measures taken in this direction. These measures are intensified by the new long-terms commitments taken on by the Group in order to work towards excellence always keeping social responsibility in mind. The Group also shares a Code of Ethics and Best Practices, created with the intention of maintaining a firm commitment to act with integrity, ethics, transparency, openness and to comply with the current legislation, the recommendations established by the public authorities, social responsibility and best practices related to the right corporate professional behavior CSR COMMITTEE The CETT Group's CSR Committee is made up of volunteers from the CETT team that organizes and manages the different CSR actions that are carried out or promoted by the Group. During the 2018-2019 academic year it was formed by: Carme Cassà, Josep M. Arcos, Meritxell Cuní, Marta Cusó, Blanca Garcia, Rachel Mantiñan, Amaya Morago, Montse Noguera, Esther Obiols, Maria Soy, Melissa Torres and Blanca Viladoms. COMMITMENTS The CETT Group understands CSR as a fundamental structural element of the business culture of the Group. The Group is continuously working on the improvement and responsible management of social, economic and environmental aspects. Our commitment is to improve the management of the company every day to make it more sustainable, committed to Catalonia, understanding the respect for the language as a contribution to multiculturalism, a characteristic of an organization

with a strong international orientation and prioritizing local action regarding social action. The CETT Group is committed to providing added value to the staff, students, residents, guests, suppliers and companies hired, the tourism and hospitality sector, the academic and scientific community, and the community. It also commits itself to minimizing the environmental impact and preventing the pollution derived from the activities and services offered. This commitment is intended to foster a more sustainable and competitive tourism in the local and global perspectives which can work as an incentive for economic and social development. AGREEMENT WITH THE RESPONSIBLE TOURISM INSTITUTE On January 24th, 2019, CETT and the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) signed the Commitment Agreement with training, responsible tourism and the 17 Objectives of Sustainable Development (ODS) of the UN integrated into the 2030 Agenda. The agreement allows these aspects to be promoted through training: both institutions must work together to create online programs, of national and international scope, which will have as their common purpose the development and dissemination of research and knowledge of the System of Responsible Tourism, as well as the sustainability criteria applied to tourism through the Biosphere methodology.

SUSTAINABILITY, DAY BY DAY The CETT Group looks out for being responsible and caring for the environment, incorporating measures and actions that contribute to making CETT a more sustainable organization. During the 2018-2019 academic year, the global increase in supplies -electricity, water and gas- on the CETT Campus was 4.03%: electricity consumption (+3.71%), gas (+5.24 %) and water (+3.80%), figures that must be analyzed taking into account that the increases in the percentages of activity have been higher. The continuity of the initiative, in collaboration with GreenCustomers, must also be highlighted at the Alimara Hotel Barcelona, in order to raise awareness about its energy consumption through a mobile application.

Quality and Environment Integrated System An efficient proposal

T

he CETT Group's development of systematic and planned quality management actions begun in 1998 and it is still maintained in order to provide an efficient response to the needs and expectations of the costumers, staff, workers, shareholders, the market and society in general. With this intention, CETT has created its own Integrated Quality and Environment System (SIQMAC). This system incorporates the requirements of quality management systems (based on ISO 9001 regulations) and the environment (based on the ISO 14001 regulations and the EMAS) accredited within the or-

ganization. The requirements have been adapted to the general culture, policy and objectives, as well as to the expectations and needs of the groups of interest. 55

Signing between CETT, the Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation and the University of Barcelona of collaboration agreements with its Program of support for refugees and people from conflict zones, coordinated by the UB Solidarity Foundation, to promote access to this Collective to higher education.

CETT-UB gastronomic initiatives in relation to the VIII edition of the Tapa Solidaria project for the benefit of Casal dels Infants. Participation of the CETT Restaurant Classroom and the Summum Restaurant, of the Alimara Hotel, with the inclusion of dishes such as "Avocado roll, salmon Tartar and cilantro" and "Our bravas potatoes".

Participation of the Hotel Alimara in the IV edition of the Inter-Hotel Games, a sports competition aimed at raising money for a solidarity cause -in this case, the NGO Make a Wish- in the modalities of bowling, running, zumba, basketball and gincana. Leadership by the CETT Campus of the gastronomic proposal and the cooking team of the #zerofoodwaste Day organized by the Aprofitem els Aliments Platform, with the preparation of a solidarity menu for more than 1,000 people.

Collaboration, through the Restaurant Classroom, in the IV Panera Solidària of the University of Barcelona, for the benefit of the Sant Joan de Déu Social Work.

Organization of a solidary sale of doughnuts and apples in the Forum, in the Summum Restaurant of the Alimara Hotel and in Ágora BCN, for the benefit of La Marató de TV3.

Development of training workshops - Catalan Cooking Bases and Doughs- for young people from the Casal dels Infants who are training to become kitchen assistants.

Participation in the Blood Donation Campaign organized by the Banc de Sang i Teixits, with the presence of Blood Bank teams in the CETT Campus facilities. In total 73 donations were made.

Sustainable initiatives. In the CETT Forum, replacement of single-use cellulose tablecloths with reusable vinyl tablecloths that can be washed. In the Alimara Hotel, replacing the plastic water bottle with a glass bottle in the minibars of the rooms. Introduction of filtered bottled water for consumption in different services of the Forum, the Classroom Restaurant, the Summum, Agora BCN, in meetings... Substitution of the single-use material for earthenware at the cocktail party of the Alimara CETT Barcelona 2019 Awards party, and creation and sale of the CETT reusable glass bottle with thermal cover.

Workshop, jointly with the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya and with the participation of about twenty experts in sustainability and catering, to analyze the criteria necessary for the creation of a Distinction of Guarantee of Environmental Quality in catering (DGQA).


The Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation CETT Group values and principles support

he Gaspar Espuña-CETT (FGE-CETT) Foundation shares the principles and values of the CETT Group and makes sure they are preserved. The Foundation was created in 2000 by the founder of the CETT Group, Gaspar Espuña, in order to guarantee and promote the philosophy that he himself instilled, and aims to be a drive for education, research and knowledge of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. It is a private foundation, inherent in the CETT Group, open, creative and encourages Group's own activity. It has a strong commitment to social responsibility and aims to extend it to the companies that make up the CETT Group and the actions it undertakes.The Foundation extends their values and principles to the CETT Group. It leads with the example by preserving and defending these values every day. PRINCIPLES • Promoting more tourist knowledge. • Promoting the Science of Tourism, by promoting research of the investigation. • Promoting the sustainable growth of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. • Promoting the internationalisation of CETT. • Maintaining and expanding the connection with the tourism sector. • Helping students expand their knowledge. • Having a social responsibility. • Ensuring the durability of the Group's activities. 18 YEARS IN ACTION During the 2018-2019 academic year, the Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation, headquartered in Àgora BCN and with Narcís Coll Ferrer as president, continues to face future challenges. Every year, the FGE-CETT, is holding numerous prizes and contests to stimulate innovation and excellence in the sector. It also has a scholarship program, edits and publishes books... and collaborates and supports different projects, such as the CETTUB Chair in Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy. In the case of the awards, in addition to organising the Awards for the Best Research Projects in Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy of High School Diplomas, the Ramon Arcarons Award to the Best Final Project of the Degree in Tourism of the EU CETT-UB and the Award to the Best Final Project of the Higher Degree in Vocational Training ETP-CETT, in 2018-2019 the XV edition of the Entrepreneur Projects Competition in the Tourism Sector was held. From the 2016-2017 period, this contest has continuity with the subsequent mentoring of the award, based on the transfer of knowledge and the experience of professionals to guide entrepreneurs (see section 7 of this Report). Regarding scholarships, also since the year 2016-2017, the Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation has one scholarship available for the student body of CETT-UB who want to carry out an internship abroad. The FGE-CETT also maintains a commitment to collaborate with Tecnológico de Monterrey (Nuevo León, Mexico), within the framework of the Líderes del Mañana program, through which it grants a five-year scholarship to a student of this institution, financing 100% of his/her training and residence. In addition, during the 2018-2019 academic year, the CETTUB and the Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Barcelona, within the framework of the Program for the support of refugees and from conflict zones, coordinated by the UB Solidarity Foundation, to promote the access of this group to higher education. Through this agreement, the CETT-UB and the FGE-CETT make available to the beneficiaries of the program a scholarship to study one of the postgraduate courses included in the Campus training offer. FGE-CETT Awards

Fostering Innovation and excellence in the sector XIII AWARDS TO THE BEST RESEARCH ESSAYS IN TOURISM HOSPITALITY AND GASTRONOMY AT BACCALAUREATE Out of the 40 essays submitted to the contest in these awards aimed at boosting and promoting the development of research, the knowledge of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy, and the training of students, 7 were finalists. The student Marta Bertomeu Sancho, from the Secondary School Deltebre, from Deltebre, was awarded the first prize for the essay “Som més que un riure: pla de màrqueting turístic del Delta de l'Ebre”, for being a very good job done with rigorous research. The second prize went to Laura Rivero Antón, a student at the IES El Foix, in Santa Margarida and els Monjos, for the work “100% homemade jelly. Why not?". The jury noted that it was a complete project in the experimental field. The third prize went to Ona Vilà i Colomer, a student of INS Montgrí, of Torroella de Montgrí, for “Guia arqueològica per descobrir petits jaciments romans del Baix Ter”. The jury decided to recognize it for its innovative tourist approach with a high research content, with many possibilities, and for the fact that the author has successfully implemented it. These awards, organized by the FGE-CETT and the CETT Campus, are sponsored by Àgora BCN, International University Residence, and are supported by the UB, the Department of Business and Employment, the Department of Education of the Generalitat and the Catalan Youth Agency. RAMON ARCARONS AWARD FOR THE BEST FINAL DEGREE PROJECT IN TOURISM OF THE EU CETT-UB For the 2018-2019 academic year, among the 7 projects presented (6 corresponding to the Tourism Degree and 1 of the Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences Degree of the EU CETT-UB), “Caracterització i debats sobre el turisme de voluntariat”, written by Marta Salvador, received the award for the best DFP of the Tourism Degree, for the rigor and depth of the research carried out. The jury, who highlighted the author's talent and potential in the field of research, gave a special mention to the work “Oferta y condiciones del turismo rural comunitario en las provincias

de Salta, Jujuy y Tucumán, Argentina”, by Carla Izcara and Raúl González, for “the quality of the field work carried out, which has been able to demonstrate the hypothesis that was marked and highlight the task of tourism professionals”. Regarding the best DFP of the Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences Degree, the jury decided to award the prize to the student Mar Saló, for the project “Presència de la cuina tradicional catalana a El Celler de Can Roca. Anàlisi quantitativa de corpus de receptes”, as it is a “brilliant and complex work, where both deep and risky research, as well as the expert methodology used, stand out”.

AWARD FOR THE BEST VOCATIONAL TRAINING FINAL PROJECT HIGHER DEGREE VOCATIONAL TRAINING OF THE ETP-CETT Of the 4 projects submitted to the contest, "Hotel 679" was the worthy winner of the award. Hotel 679, created by the students of the Higher Degree in Tourism Accommodation Management Francisco García, Marta Blasco, Christian Sierra and Guillermo Salas, and tutored by Professor Ramón Rodrigo, is a four-star superior urban hotel located in the center of Barcelona and characterized by offering a space of tranquility in the midst of urban chaos and an excellent service aimed at caring for customers. The jury highlighted the fact that it is a viable project, worked with great depth and that transmits professionalism.

O

ne of the characteristic features of the CETT Group and, at the same time, a pillar of the pedagogical model is the commitment to internationalization, applied throughout the whole learning process. In addition to enhancing language training, CETT’s students have the opportunity to work on their international projection since the beginning of their studies. On the one hand, classrooms are a meeting point of international students. On the other hand, our students can study aboard, do internships in international companies, do the SCP in an

external company or center and even start their professional career aboard. CETT Group includes International Programs, has numerous agreements with universities, centers and international institutions, fostering alliances with international partners, and it also participates in international networks and institutions. The teaching staff also participates in events and training programs around the world.

Erasmus stay + teaching of the cookery teacher of the Professional Technical School, Ricard Gil, at the Ter Groene Poorte Hospitality School of Bruges (Belgium), within the framework of the Erasmus + KA102 ATELIEURS project “Attracting Teachers Learning in European Systems”, managed by the FP Network (Barcelona City Council) through a consortium of training mobility of which the PTS of CETT is part. Participation of students and teachers of the Professional Technical School (PTS) in the second edition of the Erasmus + “Taste Europe on the Go” educational collaboration project, based on digital learning, online cooperation and international mobility. Design and commissioning by students of the four participating countries of a food truck at the Teurastamo Christmas Market in Helsinki, and of an original international street food gastronomic offer in the town of Bardolino, in Italy. Welcome by the PTS of CETT to the visit of two regional officials of the Foundation INFA, an entity with which the CETT has a long trajectory of formative collaboration: Fabienne Le Velly-Certain, responsible for training in the center of Montpellier ( Région Occitanie), and Nadine Combes, coordinator of the Tourism section at the Narbonne school

Student and Professional Exchange Commitment to the future

ETT Group, through its pedagogical model, enhances the mobility of its students, both in the academic as well as practical and professional aspects. For students, international stages and internships are an opportunity to train and acquire new knowledge, for cultural exchange, to live experiences in different social and learning environments, and to develop key competencies (linguistic, multidisciplinary, personal growth...), a fact increasingly valued by companies by incorporating professionals.

STUDY ABOARD

CETT Career Services advices, facilitates and promotes these internships abroad, as well as professional stays at national level, in very different destinations. A lot of collaborations are consolidated thanks to the participation of companies in the CETT Talent and in the corporate presentations that are carried out constantly at CETT.

Either within the Erasmus program in European centers and universities or through bilateral or specific agreements with centers around the world, students of the CETT Bachelor in Tourism who participate in exchange programs acquire new skills in new environments. During the 2018-2019 academic year, Austria, Belgium, USA, Finland, France, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Romania, Turkey, China... are some of the destinations where CETT students stayed to expand their studies.

During the 2018-2019 academic year, 41 CETT students have lived a work experience in international companies, countries and destinations around the world. 23 have done so in the framework of internship programs (in Norway, Greece, Finland, Belgium, Guatemala, Portugal, Peru, France and Germany); 11, thanks to management programs (in the US ); 4, through practical stages with scholarship (in France, Greece and Italy), and 3 students of the Tourism Degree have completed internships as DFP in Holland and Argentina.

Outgoings & incomings During the 2018-2019 academic year, 66 students studied abroad at universities overseas. Meanwhile, CETT-UB received 134 university exchange students and one student from Spanish universities to study a semester or a school year – at the Bachelor in Tourism, master’s degrees and International Programs. INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS CETT conceives the students and staff mobility as a strategic priority, oriented to the continuous improvement of the quality and the modernization of the learning. This strategy has as a central focus the intensification of the international experiences of student by completing the compulsory internships in companies and institutions from other countries. In addition, students also have the opportunity to participate in professional stays once they have completed their studies. It also establishes associations to promote mobility activities for the teaching and management staff. The international internships in companies and high quality establishments help students develop their professional carrier

SESSIONS TO PROMOTE MOBILITY CETT Career Services department organizes different initiatives aimed at promoting international internships among students, such as Alumni sessions to explain their experiences, or the Go Abroad with CETT-UB Fair: in the 2018-2019 academic year it was held its third edition, in which university students received information about the academic mobility opportunities available for the 2019-2020 academic year. MENTORING AMONG STUDENTS LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL On December 14th, 2018, the first meeting of the CETT Buddy Program took place, a mentoring program between local and international students of the TD (Tourism Degree) and the GCCG (Gastronomy Degree) in order to better integrate international students into the environment of CETT and to improve the intercultural and communication skills of local students and expand their international experience.

Collaboration with institutions and companies Fostering the bond with the industry

T

he CETT Group is working to maintain close ties with the companies in the industry, to guarantee the employability and the development of the professional career of graduates and, at the same time, respond to the evolution of the needs of the world of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy.

Each year more than a thousand collaboration agreements are established (this year it has been 1,090) with the main companies and entities in the sector. Companies and entities participate directly in training activities (435 have done so in the 2018-2019 academic year) and in research projects or events organized by CETT. Another main element of CETT’s training project is the management of hands-on training companies. These companies are part of the CETT-UB School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy. These training centers allow students to train and research in a real business context (see section 8). CETT-UB UNIVERSITY-COMPANY ADVISORY COUNCIL The CETT and the Gaspar Espuùa-CETT Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, created the first CETT-UB University-Company Advice Council in 2008. It is formed by 13 companies and institutions. The Advise Council main priorities are establishing permanent communication and dialogue on market changes in order to adapt the studies to the real needs of the industry; support and participate in the activities linked to Career Services and CETT Alumni, and collaborate in the research activities carried out by CETT or the companies of the Group.

areer Services is formed by a team of professionals whose main responsibilities are to guide and to assist students in their practical training and subsequent job placement, facilitating contact with the best companies in the sector, organizing activities aimed at the knowledge of these entities, as well as conducting a personalized follow-up during their studies. In this sense, during the 2018-2019 academic year, 71 orientation sessions and 29 company presentations were held, which involved 948 participants. Also, during this academic year, CETT has received 1,271 job demands and 2,071 internship offers for students and former students, and 1,090 collaboration agreements have been signed with the main companies in the sector. Similarly, Career Services manages and coordinates the international practical stages and the Degree Final Project (DFP) and the Master Final Project (MFP) in companies, looking for the most suitable proposals for each student, formalizing the agreements, monitoring, tutoring and supervising in the final evaluation. This tutoring from the teaching center is reinforced by the figure of the tutor himself/herself within the company and with follow-up meetings with the students. Also, during the 2018-2019 academic year, classroom sessions have been developed for university degree students, with the purpose of training them to face the selection processes and improve their knowledge of the functioning of the job market. COMPANY INTERNSHIP Career Services manages and coordinates the Practicum subject in the aspects of the realization of the agreements, the monitoring of the internships and the assessment of the subject, with three purposes: to achieve the theoretical and practical integral training of the students, to adapt the professional profile of the student body to the needs of companies in the tourism sector and to contribute to obtaining quality training by students.

Currently, CETT students and alumni have the option of consulting on the Virtual Campus all job and internship demands offered and submitting an application. OPERATION OF THE SERVICE FOR COMPANIES Any company looking for a candidate to work, can send Career Services the job application, which will be published on the Virtual Campus of CETT's website. Career Services makes a pre-selection of possible candidates that respond to the requested profile, who are informed of the conditions of the mentioned offer. The department also answers requests from companies that want to make ad hoc selection processes to cover internship and/or employment opportunities. The department makes a call to the corresponding students and/or Alumni according to the training and profile, coordinates the presentation and is responsible for managing the interviews. NEW CAREER SERVICES TEAM Since teamwork is key to guarantee a good service, Career Services constantly works to provide people who respond to the needs of students, companies and collaborators in the sector. With this objective, it counts with professionals with experience in the sector, loaded with international life experiences and with enthusiasm to carry out a common project. Thus, the department integrates six people, who provide students, with the application of an innovative and future vision, of the appropriate tools to face their incorporation into a job market that poses more and more challenges.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES Career Services is present during the entire training and professional degree of the students: once their studies are finished, they are given personalized attention, guiding, advising and helping in the insertion and job upgrade. The service maintains

O

n February 11th, 2019, some eighty companies from the tourism, hospitality and gastronomic sector met at the CETT Campus to share with the students a new edition of El Encuentro (The Encounter), which this year has received the name of CETT Talent. The event, which celebrated its 18th edition, created a favourable environment to help promote the value of CETT-UB students. “WE CONNECT, APPROACH AND PROGRESS” Leading companies in the tourism, hospitality and gastronomic sector participated in this edition, one of the most numerous in recent years: the approximately 80 companies present conducted more than 1,800 interviews with 460 students and alumni from the various trainings offered at CETT-UB Campus. Among the attending companies, there were hotel groups such as Barceló Hotel Group, Palladium Hotel Group, Meliá Hotels International or Iberostar Hotels & Resorts; gastronomy and catering groups such as Grupo Nomo, Unilever or Caelis, and tourism, such as Pangea, Grupo Julià, Value Retail or the Turisme de Barcelona entity, among others. The activities took place during an intense day, in which the companies interacted with the students and the Alumni, with the intention of knowing and coming into contact with the CETT-UB talent, as well as identifying potential candidates to cover the more than 150 internship offers and 100 job offers published by CETT Talent. In addition, both students and companies were able to count on the mobile application CETT Events, an app of the Meetmaps platform to interact and expand diary contacts. The feedback from the companies was very positive: it highlighted the assessment regarding the treatment received, the organization and the management of the event; It was noted that the students interviewed were able to demonstrate professionalism, and it was positively considered the fact that events with this format were organized to give students the opportunity to meet companies in a quiet and friendly atmosphere. But in addition, CETT Talent served to celebrate the #meetup of CETT Alumni, a great opportunity to find former students who have become prominent professionals in the sector, potential candidates for interesting job offers, as well as recently

graduated students who want to improve their employment status and seek adequate support in CETT. RECOGNITION OF THE BEST COLLABORATING COMPANIES OF CETT CETT Talent 2019 recognized the task of three companies for their collaborative trajectory and link with CETT in the tourism, hospitality and gastronomic fields: they are, respectively, Julià Tours, Grupo Julià; Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, and Areas.

elebrities of the world of haute cuisine met on April 1st and 2nd at the XIII Gastronomic Encounter organized by the Professional Technical School of CETT, which this time was framed within the III Congrés Català de la Cuina. Chefs, sommeliers and renowned culinary journalists shared their experiences with the students of the Centre and reflected on the present and future challenges facing the sector. RECLAIMING THE CATALAN CUISINE IN THE HIGH GASTRONOMY On the day of April 1st, Dr. Maria Abellanet, CEO of CETT Group, began an Encounter that especially focused on Catalan cuisine, a cuisine that “is up-to -date, respects tradition and works modernity, besides knowing how to adapt to the territory, the season and also the producers.” During the day, some fifteen renowned restaurateurs, bakers and chefs placed value on the culture and tradition of Catalan cuisine, claiming their role in haute cuisine. Through various presentations and round tables, conducted by the gastronomic journalist Carme Gasull, renowned chefs such as Sergi de Meià, Fina Puigdevall, Ada Parellada or Marc Gascons, among others, presented their vision on issues such as the basis of Catalan cuisine, the Catalan bread, the products of proximity, the crafts and the challenge of innovation. There was also a debate about sushi or fricandó, starring Michelin star chefs Nandu Jubany and Hideki Matsuhisa.

The students also had access to culinary demonstrations, wine tastings and gourmet products, which allowed them to know first-hand the latest developments in the sector, in a pedagogical environment. On the second day, on April 2nd, students could discover the origin and potential of the ratafía, thanks to La Sobirana Cooperativa and the Confraria de la Ratafia. In addition, two CETT students, with their respective grandmothers, held two master classes, which served to recognize the tradition and role of grandmothers in the kitchen: they prepared the "Sunday paella" and other elaborations, such as a stew. Organized with the collaboration of the B-Travel Tourism Hall and the Generalitat de Catalunya, the XXXV edition took place on March 21st at the Alimara Hotel Barcelona. ALIMARA AWARD TO PROMOTION IN INNOVATION IN COMMUNICATION The Award went to “Legends of Catalonia”, of the Catalan Tourism Agency, a very powerful and pioneering branded content campaign worldwide, which promotes Catalonia in the USA through a virtual reality video game with icons of our country; for “Bus a cegues del turisme industrial”, by the Xarxa de Turisme Industrial de Catalunya (XATIC), for presenting an innovative format and product that have helped promote industrial tourism in Catalonia, and for “Noah's Ark”, by Axel Hotels, for being an innovative and transgressive communication campaign, which reinforces the positioning, value and brand image, its social involvement in the struggle for the rights of the LGBTI collective and which is also aimed at raising awareness of society about values of inclusion, equality and diversity. ALIMARA AWARD TO PROMOTION IN INNOVATION IN PRODUCT AND SERVICE “Tu i Lleida”, from Tu i Lleida SL, was awarded for being a perfectly designed and marketed product that contributes to

O

ne of the most representative values of the CETT Group is the commitment to entrepreneurship, both from the academic and pedagogical aspects, as well as the promotion of different projects. This quality is enhanced in the classrooms, incorporating it throughout the entire academic curriculum, so that students develop an entrepreneur spirit.

XV EDITION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION OF TOURISM PROJECTS One of the objectives of the Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation (see section 5) is to promote training, research and knowledge in tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. One of the principles of the institution is to stimulate entrepreneurship and awareness to contribute to the growth of sustainable tourism. The FGE-CETT defends responsible, open and network entrepreneurship. It works to foster the generation of entrepreneurial projects, promoting innovation and creating synergies where business ideas can take shape, thanks to projects with a future perspective. Therefore, in its desire to promote and foster the development of tourist activities, the FGE-CETT wants to encourage young entrepreneurs to develop their ideas, shape them and help them to make their projects come true. Hence, as an entity with social interest, it aims to promote entrepreneurial initiatives, supporting them through the Entrepreneurship Competition of Tourism Projects. Thus, it rewards the best tourism company projects by providing them with financial resources, offering the know-how of professionals through mentoring, generating networking and facilitating the contact of entrepreneurs with potential investors. Winners of the XV edition Out of the 36 projects that were submitted to the contest, the six finalist projects were presented to the final jury, who chose the three winners. “Vanwoow”, by Auxi Piñero Martos, Manuel Guisado Peña, Javier Guisado Peña and Ana Margarita Galindo Álvarez, was the winning business initiative of the Contest, which the Gaspar Espuña Foundation and the Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy Campus CETT-UB, annually announce, with the sponsorship of the Diputación de Barce-

lona. Of the winning project, the jury highlighted the fact of presenting a tourism business model that replaces the hotel or campsite, with a positive legal shape and social vocation, while referring to its territorial impact and sensitivity. The second prize went to "Chartok", by Luz Alvarado Zaiz and Joan Sanz, for being "a good idea that covers the need for large hotels, where often there is a shortage of communication for decision-making among departments." As for the third prize, the award went to “Avinturat”, by Elisabet Cots Foraster, a project with the desire to find a specialized marketplace in Catalonia, with potential and scalability. Within the framework of this contest, after the awards ceremony a meeting between mentors and the winners takes place to launch the mentoring of the prize. As, in addition to the financial endowment for the winners to help them launch the project that has been proven economically viable, since the 2016-2017 edition, this mentoring has been incorporated as a prize, based on the transfer of knowledge and experience of the professionals in order to guide entrepreneurs, a fact that accelerates the project development process, and helps to conduct the business in an optimal way. Thus, networking is generated and contact with potential investors is facilitated.

During the 2018-2019 academic year, the mentoring of the winners of the XIV Entrepreneurship Contest was held: the Maurici Cot Patisserie and Desserts project (first prize), a business initiative that serves people with celiac disease and gluten and lactose sensitivity in all Catalonia; EasyTravel App (second prize), by Closer2event, an innovative technological solution to package multiple combinations of products related to travel and event attendance, and the Sharify app (third prize), a live map of Barcelona to share moments from the day by day in three clicks: what, when and where.

On November 6th, 2018, the three winners (Maurici Cot, Guillermo Onrubia and Víctor Corominas, and Gemma Prenafeta) presented their respective projects to about thirty possible mentors. Two months later, on January 11th, the winners, mentors and mentoring team of CETT held the first joint meeting at the Campus, which marked the launch of this six-month stage of CETT mentoring. In the 2018-2019 academic year, the CETT Mentoring team has been trained by professionals and businessmen/women of recognized prestige in the world of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. Àgora is a residence hall affiliated to the University of Barcelona. The headquarters of the Gaspar Espuña-CETT Foundation are also located at Àgora. Further information: www.agorabcn.com ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019 During the 2018-2019 academic year, all kinds of proceedings and actions have been organized for 391 residents, both shortterm and long-term, 51% of which have been women and 49%, men were organized in Ágora BCN. By origin, 9% came from Catalonia, 20%, from the rest of the Spanish State, and 71% were foreigners. In total 40 different nationalities have been represented. Among the most relevant actions carried out, in addition to the traditional celebration of the start-up party for all residents, organized together with Animarius and in which a dinner was offered, a few months later the protagonist was the Chinese New Year, with a lunch and dinner that included a variety of dishes from the Chinese cuisine. Another event to highlight was the Sport Tournament of CETT 2019, held at the Ágora BCN sports center, which this year, in addition to having CETT students and residents of the International University Residence, was opened to the participation of CETT staff. And in the cultural

field, on April 23rd, the Day of Sant Jordi was celebrated with the residents and the team, to whom a rose and a bookmark were given. In relation to the daily life of the Residence, directed Zumba classes have been given in the of Ágora BCN gym, and a granted resident has carried out monthly, from October to June, the Agora Magazine.

C

urrently, CETT has approximately 19,800 alumni. CETT Alumni, the Association of Alumni of CETT, whose main mission is to strengthen the feeling of belonging and enhance the relationship between the former students, with the creation of a network of professionals who participate in a series of activities related to the professional, training and social fields. PROFESSIONAL AREA Alumni may choose to consult, on the Virtual Campus Job Board, the various job offers available. They can also have access to the Professional Directory, a personalized career guidance and career service, and they are offered the possibility to participate in company events and presentations, talent fairs and selection days, as well as in the rest of activities and events that are organized from the University. TRAINING AREA CETT Alumni offers discounts on training, as well as the possibility of participating in workshops..., updated information of interest and access to the Resource Center, among many other advantages. Also, during the 2018-2019 academic year trai-

ning sessions have been organized in the field of development and personal branding. SOCIAL AREA With the purpose of generating networks and interconnections between the Alumni and finalizing students of all the trainings, CETT Alumni organizes promotional dinners, talk dinners and networking activities, among others. WINTER NETWORKING CETT ALUMNI This encounter, which took place on October 27th, 2018, allowed the Alumni to discover the Ca n’Estruc winery, in the municipality of Esparreguera, and visit the 22 hectares of vineyards on the estate, documented since 1574. In addition to knowing the facilities, attendees were able to taste the young and aged wines that are made in them, accompanied by a gastronomic selection of cheeses, ham and sausages from Vila Viniteca.

SUMMER NETWORKING CETT ALUMNI On May 18th, this encounter was held, aimed at sharing knowledge bringing together, in addition to members of the CETT Alumni organizing team, representatives of companies and Alumni of different trainings and promotions. The Summer Networking 2019 CETT Alumni took place at the headquarters of Kami de Deus, one of the winning projects of the 2017-2018 edition of the FGE-CETT Entrepreneurship Contest. Robert Ruiz, CEO of Kami de Deus and Alumni of CETT, explained to those present the secrets of the fermented foods and how, after having made personalized drinks for years in the best restaurants in Spain, he decided to open a gastronomic laboratory. He illustrated how drinks like kombucha, cider, mead or tepache can bring together cultural, historical and scientific aspects, and invited to make a tasting of some fermented foods. THE BOARD OF CETT ALUMNI Tere Díaz Comas and Jordi Sala are the president and vice president of CETT Alumni, respectively. Elisabet Ferrer is the treasurer and Elisenda Farràs, the secretary. The spokespersons include Jordi Palou, Jordi Tell, Helena Puig, Neus Carruesco, Damià Serrano and Roberto Torregrosa.

T

he CETT Group has different tools and media to ensure the correct internal communication between its members and the external communication with the groups of interest.

The Website A door to the world

T

he website of the CETT Group (www.cett.cat), available in Catalan, Spanish and English, is the main communication space with all the groups of interest. It includes, among others, information about the Group, about the academic offer, the link with companies and the areas of knowledge and research. The section "Press Room" has a diary, news on the current affairs of CETT Group and the news clipping of CETT, which includes all the news published on CETT, as well as others in the field of tourism, hospitality, gastronomy and training extracted from different newspapers (Ara, Avui, El País, El Periódico and La Vanguardia, among others). In the 2018-2019 academic year, the website has had a fresh and modern image, in line with the adaptation of the CETTUB Campus to new technologies. In addition, the message has

focused on the commercialization of the programs themselves. For this reason, images with more vivid colors have been updated, linked to the color of each program. As for the companies of practical application, they have their respective web pages. Highlights include those of the Alimara Hotel (www.alimarahotel.com and www.alimaraevents.com, both in five languages -Catalan, Spanish, English, French and German-) and that of Ágora BCN (www.agorabcn.com).


CETT Communication and dissemination actions

T

here are numerous communication actions carried out all year round to show information related to the CETT Group. The main communication actions are the magazine Tot CETT and the dissemination on social networks.

TOT CETT Tot CETT is CETT Group’s corporate magazine, which deals with current issues related to the tourism, hospitality and gastronomy industries and the CETT Group. Each issue deals with different topics and news related to the fields of tuorism, hospitality and gastronomy. In addition, Tot CETT includes a section that addresses the different corporate social responsibility actions carried out by the CETT Group, professional visits, appearances in the media, CETT teachers, relevant research, former students (current professional situation, entrepreneurship and students aboard) ... and a collection of the new references that can be found in the CETT Resource Center and Library. The students and CETT Alumni members receive the magazine at their home address. Professionals, institutions and companies in the sector also do so. he Virtual Campus is CETT’s main tool regarding the functional development of the studies. Students can access all the necessary information while they complete their studies at CETT.

This Campus, which has a space -the ICT Area- with information on ICT resources, can also be accessed from the CETT app available for mobile devices.

They have become a basic element in the bilateral communication with all the collectives and groups of interest. ETT Group has a wide impact on the media, not only in relation to the actions and events that it promotes, but, increasingly, around the professionals of the team and the research projects that are carried out and that provide relevant data for the sector as a whole.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019 During the 2018-2019 academic year, the CETT Group has added a total of 280 appearances in the written (print or digital) and audiovisual media, and has achieved an approximate audience of more than 52,000,000 reached people. This media impact has occurred both in specialized media in the fields of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy, as in general media such as La Vanguardia, 20 minutos, El Periódico, El Punt Avui or La Razón. Regarding the topics with which CETT is most commonly related, the research, events and information related to the center's experts stand out mainly. Sustainability, the academic field and collaborations with other entities in this area are also some of the issues on which CETT has a presence in the media. Future projects The future of the CETT Group

C

ETT, next year, we will be facing a very special milestone: the year 2019-2020, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of our creation by Gaspar EspuĂąa i Berga. A project that has been growing and evolving, since then, until it reaches what it is today: a university center of international reference in the tourism, hotel and gastronomy sector. This commemoration will undoubtedly mark the actions and events that we will carry out during the academic year and that we want to share with all the people who are and have been part of the project. In accordance with our maverick essence and with the innovative spirit that characterizes us, in CETT we face this celebration as an opportunity to continue evolving and transforming, with the objective not only of adapting to the constant changes that our sector is experiencing and, in general, society, but also to be able to anticipate them and generate them. Tourism is one of the main engines of economic, social and cultural growth and development and, currently, this industry contributes 10.4% to world GDP. However, the context in which we move is uncertain, volatile and complex and demands flexible professionals capable of taking on these challenges. From CETT we work to train people who have a critical view and are able to transform the sectors from within. We understand training as a process of transformation through experiences and, as an integral center that seeks the balance between scientific rigor and practical relevance, we propose to

contribute to this goal, with a vision of the future, through new education adapted to the new context and the changing demands of the sector. A good example is the new Degree of Digital Business and Innovation in Tourism, within the framework of its own pedagogical model that combines theoretical knowledge with the development of practical and professional skills developed in our application centers, as well as applied research in close connection with the sector. In short, an educational model focused on the student with the vocation to offer the necessary resources to enable the student to sense the challenges of the sector and to manage them. Furthermore, during the next academic year, CETT intends to continue working to promote responsibility policies, not only in the companies that make up the Group, but as a change agent in the sector. In addition, it is expected that we will be part of the Board of Directors of Affiliated Members of the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization), to which we want to contribute our experience, contribute to generating synergies between the academic world and the business fabric and, of course, ensure for an increasingly respectful and sustainable sector, in accordance with cultural identity and territory. We will face, then, the new academic year with the determination to continue investing on positioning people at the core center, as we have always done, and contributing to society from excellence in everything we do.

a visió de futur al CETT passa perquè el Grup segueixi sent un referent d’excel·lència acadèmica i de serveis en turisme, hoteleria i gastronomia en l’àmbit internacional, compromès amb el desenvolupament responsable del sector, les persones, la societat i el país, que aporti formació, recerca, innovació i coneixement expert, i aposti decididament pel creixement personal i professional dels qui en formem part.

Un dels projectes iniciats el curs acadèmic 2015-2016 i que ha de culminar en l’exercici 2016-2017 és l’ampliació i la remodelació de les instal·lacions del Campus CETT-UB. La reforma, d’una gran envergadura, afecta més de 2.000 m2 i implica una ampliació de més de 1.600 m2, amb la construcció de noves aules especialitzades i la reorganització dels espais i serveis que ofereix el Campus. Aquestes millores permetran a l’alumnat, el professorat, l’equip, les empreses i entitats col·laboradores... assolir els reptes de futur. En aquest sentit, el Grup CETT vol seguir apostant per formar els millors professionals i oferir nous serveis especialitzats en instal·lacions capdavanteres i innovadores.

Finalment, un altre projecte de futur del CETT rep l’aval de l’acord signat aquest exercici 2015-2016 amb l’Ajuntament i la Universitat de Barcelona, per promoure els programes de doctorat en turisme, hoteleria i gastronomia. Gràcies a aquesta col·laboració, els investigadors del CETT podran participar en programes de doctorat, a través de l’Escola de Doctorat de la UB, per tal de dur a terme direccions de tesis doctorals, mitjançant la seva vinculació a una o diverses de les línies de recerca definides en els citats programes. Aquesta figura facilitarà la creació de programes de doctorat en turisme propis i la participació del CETT en programes de doctorat d’altres universitats. Amb una mentalitat oberta al món, seguirem treballant en equip amb la il·lusió i l’optimisme de compartir un projecte creixent i amb vitalitat, referent d’excel·lència acadèmica internacional en turisme, hoteleria i gastronomia.

Un altre dels projectes engrescadors amb vista al futur és la Càtedra de Turisme, Hoteleria i Gastronomia CETT-UB, de la qual l’Ajuntament de Barcelona i el CETT són coimpulsors i agents actius, a fi d’identificar les tendències, les oportunitats i els reptes de la ciutat per desenvolupar un turisme responsable i sostenible. En aquesta línia ja s’han endegat tres projectes: l’Smart Tourism Congress Barcelona CETT, que s’ha de celebrar del 9 a l’11 de novembre de 2016, l’Índex de Sostenibilitat de les Destinacions Turístiques, i el projecte Ciutats educadores i Turisme. D’altra banda, es prepara una renovació de les bases dels Premis Alimara, que reconeixen l’esforç i la qualitat de la promoció turística, i que el proper curs arribaran a la 33a edició. Els Premis Alimara faran un gir i evolucionaran com ho fa la societat i el nostre entorn, tant des del punt de vista dels criteris d’avaluació com de les categories premiades. També durant el curs 2016-2017 es treballarà per millorar els estàndards de qualitat del Grup CETT. D’acord amb la filosofia, els principis i valors que en conformen la identitat, el compromís corporatiu amb la qualitat es constata mitjançant l’estructuració d’un sistema i d’uns processos organitzatius que aposten per l’orientació cap al desenvolupament dels objectius en aquest marc. En aquest context es preveu renovar les diferents acreditacions que avalen les formacions del Grup.
