RIOJA In Alfaro, we have welcomed teams from our national distribution companies. We are proud of the magnificent response from the more than 70 professionals who have traveled from all over Spain to visit the winery and taste our new wine.
RIOJA After touring the winery and before revealing the brand, President José María Fonseca gave an enthusiastic thanks for the magnificent response from so many partners, now friends, who have wished to accompany them at this event. Vice President Antón Fonseca and enology director for red wine, Alfredo Marqués, also addressed the distributors. The General Manager, Enrique Costas, was in charge of presenting the new brand image.
HERACLIO ALFARO
The mystery of the brand chosen for the winery and the wine is revealed: a designation of origin with history and soul, but who was Heraclio Alfaro? A pioneer of aviation, he was an aeronautical engineer ahead of his time who piloted and designed airplanes at the beginning of the 20th century. His entrepreneurial spirit, capable of crossing borders, permeates this first Rioja crianza wine. The El Estarijo estate, where the vineyard is currently located, was an airfield that opened in November 1919, 99 years ago. It serves as a basis to build the brand.
Heraclio Alfaro has left his mark on aviation history. So much so that in a recent visit, Group President José María Fonseca, accompanied by board member Benito González, discovered his name on a commemorative plaque in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, which houses the largest collection of airplanes and space ships in the world.

INTERNATIONALITATION
The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Montevideo, Uruguay was Antón's first stop on his trade mission to this country.
Next, the Vice President of the Terras Gauda Group set off for the famous area of Punta Ballena, where he presented our wines at the Club de los Balleneros.
Hosting the event was Amirwor’s team, our importer in Uruguay.
