NEW VINTAGES 2020 70% ALBARIÑO 22% CAÍÑO BLANCO 8% LOUREIRO

This vintage shows an impressively powerful structure, character and meatiness, filling the palate with its voluminous and velvety mouthfeel. It is also fresh, cheerful and very lively. Its intense flavour is accompanied by mineral and creamy sensations that give it even more character.

2020 100% ALBARIÑO

This wine is made from the Albariño grown in our highest-altitude, less humid, cooler vineyards where there is a regater day-night temperature differential, thus favoring slower ripening, giving us a fresher Albariño of great aromatic intensity, a greater degree of acidity and smoothness on the palate. The 2020 vintage is characterised by a balance between the lovely ripe pineapple and peach aromas and the fresh, delicate citrus notes of lime and grapefruit, accompanied by slight hints of bananas and Golden Delicious apples.

2017 GARNACHA TEMPRANILLO GRACIANO MAZUELO

The balanced produccion of the 2017 vintage gives us a fine and elegant wine, in which the Garnacha fruit really comes to the fore. Very suitable for barrel ageing and long maturation.

2020 100% MENCÍA

We started with small plots of hundred­ year-old Mencía vines, distributed on the slopes in the mountainous part of the Bierzo wine region. Petit is sourced from east- and north-facing slopes with fresher clay soils. These locations reflect the region's Atlantic style very precisely.

2019 TEMPRANILLO GARNACHA ALBILLO SYRAH MALBEC CABERNET SAUVIGNON

To make this wine, we look for the freshest, lightest soils in the Duero River Valley, with highly aromatic grapes and good acidity. Goblet vines on small plots selected for their purity and the expertise of the vine-growers in each location.

reserving and promoting the winegrowing legacy as a show of our commitment to environmental sustainability and the conservation of our surroundings has been the driving force behind some of the R&D projects we have developed

O

ne of them has been the recovery of the native variety Caíño Blanco. Because of the difficulties associated with its cultivation, it was on the way to disappearing, in spite of its excellent winemaking qualities. We currently account for 85% of the entire D.O.

I

t is so closely linked to its terroir that the taste of shale is noticeable, as is the proximity of the sea and the Atlantic influence on the valley of O Rosal, things that are difficult to transfer to any other region in the world.

We strive for harmony and balance between the soil, climate, grapevine and the natural environment.

old vines The disparity of soils in terms of slopes, orientations and microclimates allow us to obtain grapes with very distinct characteristics, each of which is vinified separately. 29


La Prohibición

Over the years, we have located hundred-year old Garnacha Tintorera vines growing amongst the Mencía. As soon as we managed to gather around 8,000 kg, we created La Prohibición, a wine with its own style that expresses its strong Atlantic character.

FROM BRAZIL... We received a visit from our importer, Luli Dias. Primera parada: Bodegas Pittacum. First stop: Pittacum Wineries. Antón Fonseca played host, accompanied by Sales Director Iago Becerra, and the Oenology Director of our winery in El Bierzo. The route continued to Terras Gauda, with a tour of the vineyards and a wine tasting.
